Box Office: 'Sitaare Zameen Par' Third Day (Day 3) Early Estimates

Mumbai, June 22 - Superstar Aamir Khan's comedy drama Sitaare Zameen Par scored a good opening weekend after another big jump on Sunday at the domestic box office. The film witnessed almost 200% growth from Friday to Sunday, which is excellent.

According to early estimates, R.S. Prasanna's directorial venture scored in the range of 28-30 crores net on its third day, pushing the total domestic opening weekend to around 60 crores. The movie really turned the tide after the low opening with massive growth on Saturday and Sunday, as the weekend, which looked like it might finish in the 40s, has come up much higher.



The opening weekend trend of the movie has stunned the trade, first with the opening and then with what followed next. It is the first instance that a movie, which opened to around 10.50 crores net, went on to score 60 crores weekend, and this is a big positive sign for the film going forward.

The things now rest on Monday, which has become a crucial factor for a film's success in recent times. A good hold is a must for longevity, but the kind of weekend it has had, indicates that SZP is likely to have a good run during weekdays.
