Rajinikanth's 'Coolie' Filming Wrapped; To Clash With 'War 2'?

Chennai, March 18 - One of the biggest films of the year, superstar Rajinikanth's action drama Coolie has completed the entire shoot, the makers announced on Monday (March 17) with a short video glimpse from the sets.## Directed by Lokesh Kanagraj, Coolie was shot in multiple locations over a period of 8 months. It kicked off in mid-July 2024 and wrapped up in mid-March 2025. The filmmaker maintained his efficacy in completing his film shoots in a planned manner without causing delays. ## As the filming is done, the real question now is when the film will hit the big screens. It was originally planned for a May 2025 release but it has been postponed from there. It has been reported by reliable media sources that Coolie may release on August 14, 2025, but there is a catch. ## Yash Raj Films' highly-anticipated spy action thriller War 2 is already scheduled for August 14 release in Hindi, Telugu, and Tamil. It stars Hrithik Roshan and Jr. NTR who are big stars in the Hindi and Telugu markets, and that is a big hurdle for Coolie makers to cross. ## It is said that the makers are discussing the release of Coolie with distributors and although they are looking for an August 2025 launch, it might shift to another date to avoid this unwanted clash. Mumbai, March 17 - Chinese mega-blockbuster Ne Zha 2 is showing no signs of slowing down and is continuing to score big at the China and global box office. The movie had already crossed $2 billion and now become the 5th biggest grosser ever worldwide. ## Made on a budget of $80 million, the animated blockbuster has overtaken Star Wars: The Force Awakens ($2.07 billion) to climb the 5th spot among the all-time biggest grossers globally. The movie has grossed $2.08+ billion, including $2.05 billion in China alone through Sunday (March 16).## The sequel is projected to finish its box office run with $2.10 billion in the home market. It is already the highest-grossing animated movie ever worldwide and the highest-grossing title in a single market. No other movie has ever topped $1 billion in a single market before with The Force Awakens being the previous biggest ($936 million in North America). ## James Cameron's Avatar continues to be the number 1 film worldwide with $2.92 billion, followed by Avengers: Endgame ($2.79 billion), Avatar: The Way of Water ($2.32 billion) and Titanic ($2.25 billion) as the next three, respectively. Ne Zha 2 is expected to finish with its current ranking. ## Ne Zha 2 is adapted from Chinese mythology stories and the 16th-century Chinese novel Investiture of the Gods (Fengshen Yanyi). Mumbai, March 17 - Superstar Shah Rukh Khan is gearing up to start shooting for director Siddharth Anand's action drama King in the next couple of months. It is the actor's first film since Dunki (2023) and his reunion with Anand after their mega-blockbuster Pathaan. ## After King, Shah Rukh Khan will start Pathaan 2 by the end of this year or early 2026. Now, according to the latest reports, the Badshah of Bollywood is in talks with Pushpa director Sukumar for a rural political action drama film and the actor has reportedly shown interest in it. ## SRK will reportedly play the anti-hero in the movie that promises to show him in a raw, rustic, and desi avatar that blends his mass appeal with his global superstar image. Hyderabad, March 16 - The third instalment of superstar Allu Arjun's Pushpa will be hitting cinemas worldwide in 2028, the makers confirmed on Sunday. The second part, Pushpa 2 - The Rule, which was released in December last year, emerged as one of the biggest Indian blockbusters at the worldwide box office with a gross collection of nearly 1750 crores. ## During the media interaction, producer Ravi Shankar confirmed that the third instalment, which is titled Pushpa 3 - The Rampage, will come out sometime in 2028. The filmmaker also revealed that Allu Arjun will next be doing director Atlee, followed by Trivikram's film and both will be completed in the next 2 years. ## Meanwhile, Pushpa director Sukumar will be directing superstar Ram Charan in his next before starting work on Pushpa 3, as confirmed by producer Ravi Shankar. Kochi, March 15 - After weeks of suspense and uncertainty, one of the biggest Malayalam films, superstar Mohanlal-fronted action thriller Empuraan is set to storm the big screen on March 27, as originally scheduled in multiple languages.## As reported earlier, there was uncertainty over the release date of the film due to the internal tussle between Aashirvad Cinemas and Lyca Productions. It was reported that Aashirvad wanted the other studio to exit the film on its terms but Lyca disagreed for the same. ## Now, as per the latest development, Gokulam Gopalan of Sree Gokulam Movies has stepped in to solve the issue and it is said that the studio has replaced Lyca as it has paid the required amount to get all the rights from the Tamil production house. ## Meanwhile, the upcoming posters of Empuraan will still reportedly feature Lyca. Mumbai, March 13 - Bollywood superstar Ranbir Kapoor has teased the announcement of Brahmastra Part Two — Dev soon. It is the sequel to Brahmastra Part 1 - Shiva and is the second instalment of a planned trilogy, which is itself planned to be part of a cinematic universe titled Ä€straverse. ## Director Ayan Mukerji confirmed the second part was supposed to start immediately after the first film which was released in 2022. However, the filmmaker decided to re-work the script which delayed its production and in-between, he took up Yash Raj Films' highly-awaited spy action thriller War 2 which is slated to release in August this year. ## Since there was no development taking place regarding Brahmastra 2, rumours about its cancellation started spreading until recently when Ranbir himself cleared the air on this mega project. The actor along with his wife Alia Bhatt conducted a meet-and-greet session with the media in Mumbai recently where they spoke about their future project .## When asked about this epic fantasy action-adventure film, Ranbir confirmed that Ayan Mukerji will start pre-production work on it after War 2.
