Box Office: 'Sitaare Zameen Par' Second Day (Day 2) Early Estimates

Mumbai, June 21 - Superstar Aamir Khan's comedy drama Sitaare Zameen Par goes overdrive on the second day and scores an almost perfect 100% growth after the double-digit opening day. This is the biggest second-day jump for a Bollywood movie with a double-digit start.

According to early estimates, the film has scored in the range of 21-22+ crores net on Saturday, which takes its total collection to around 32 crores net in 2 days. The opening weekend, which looked like it might finish in the mid-40s, is now aiming for 55 crores net or might be even higher as pre-sales for Sunday are excellent.



The huge second-day growth has made up for most of the lost ground of the opening day, which saw a decent start, but it couldn't be called good, given the fact that Aamir's film used to take much bigger openings in the past. However, the openings, even for a superstar movie, haven't been the same post the Covid-19 pandemic, especially for non-mass movies, so considering that, SZP's weekend can be called decent to good.

The success of the movie will depend on how strong the hold will be on Monday, which has become a crucial factor for all the movies with low openings. However, the audience's word of mouth is highly positive, which indicates strong legs beyond the weekend.
