Kochi, April 30 - Superstar Mohanlal's drama thriller Thudarum has stunned the trade and has stormed into the 100 crores club at the worldwide box office within a week, becoming one of the fastest Malayalam films ever to do so. ## Directed by Tharun Moorthy, the film has been running riot ever since it was released, despite the not-so-good buzz before the release. In 5 days so far, it grossed approximately 95 crores globally, and at the time of writing this piece, it has entered the 100 crores club. ## The film's 5-day worldwide collection includes a domestic gross of approximately 44 crores, while the overseas total is 51+ crores. It is the 11th Malayalam film of all time and the 4th for Mohanlal to achieve the milestone of 100 crores gross collection. Kochi, April 28 - Superstar Mohanlal's drama thriller Thudarum has stormed the box office with one of the biggest opening weekends ever for a Malayalam movie. The movie is a major surprise box office winner, though the buzz was decent before release. ## Directed by Tharun Moorthy, Thudarum in its first 3-day opening weekend has scored approximately 28 crores gross collection at the domestic box office, including over 20 crores gross in the home state, Kerala. Overseas, the movie is estimated to gross around 41.50 crores, for approximately 69.50 crores worldwide opening weekend.## Subject to the official overseas figures, this (68 crores gross) marks Mollywood's second biggest opening weekend, after Mohanlal's recently released Empuraan, which scored a massive 174 crores gross in its 4-day opening weekend. Thudarum has beaten Aadujeevitham's 4-day weekend of 64.85 crores to claim the second spot in the all-time ranking.## Thudarum is certain to enter the 100 crores club, and it is likely to achieve this feat before the first week ends or by the second Friday. Mumbai, April 19 - Superstar Mohanlal's action thriller L2: Empuraan is nearing its box office run but not before creating history for Malayalam cinema. The movie has emerged as the highest-grossing Mollywood film ever. ## Directed by Prithviraj Sukumaran, the film has grossed 266+ crores at the worldwide box office so far. In India, it has minted around 124 crores gross, while overseas collection is around 142 crores. L2 is the biggest Malayalam grosser at the domestic as well as overseas box office, while it will finish as the second biggest grosser in Kerala, behind 2018. ## Meanwhile, the makers have revealed that the total business of Empuraan is 325 crores, which includes theatrical and non-theatrical business (so far). There have been rumours that the film's OTT and satellite rights were sold for 100 crores, but the latest update from the makers reveals that non-theatrical rights are not more than 60 crores.## The non-theatrical rights of the movie are said to be the second highest ever for a Malayalam film, behind Dulquer Salmaan's King of Kotha. Kochi, April 16 - Superstar Mohanlal's crime suspense thriller Drishyam is one of the most popular franchises to come from Malayalam cinema, and it reached the next level with the remake versions, especially the Bollywood star Ajay Devgn-led Hindi remake. ## The second part of the original film was directly released on OTT in 2021, before the Hindi remake set the box office on fire in 2022 with around 350 crores gross worldwide. Ajay Devgn has confirmed that the work on Drishyam 3 will begin soon, but it might be in trouble, as per the latest report. ## Recently, Mohanlal and director Jeethu Joseph confirmed Drishyam 3, and now, according to the latest report by Mid-Day, the Malayalam makers are also targeting the Hindi audience with the upcoming film as it is already a popular franchise in North India due to the remake versions.## The report says that Mohanlal and Joseph are keen to make Drishyam 3 a bilingual offering to be released in Malayalam and Hindi to make it a proper pan-India outing. Kochi, April 5 - Superstar Mohanlal's action thriller L2: Empuraan has become the highest-grossing Malayalam film of all time after beating last year's mega blockbuster Manjummel Boys in just 9 days at the worldwide box office. ## The sequel to the 2019 movie Lucifer, Empuraan has grossed approximately 241.50+ crores worldwide, including 106.50+ crores domestically through the second Friday. It has beaten the lifetime total of Manjummel Boys, which scored 241 crores in 2024. ## Empuraan is currently the third biggest Mollywood grosser in India after 2018 (110.50 crores gross) and Aadujeevitham (167.50 crores), while it is by far the biggest grosser at the overseas box office with 135+ crores, which is nearing double the second best Manjummel Boys (73.40 crores). ## Among the biggest grossers of the year, Empuraan is currently in third place behind Sankranthiki Vasthunam (255+ crores gross) and Chhaava (800+ crores gross) globally. Kochi, April 4 - Superstar Mohanlal's action thriller L2: Empuraan has topped 100 crores gross collection at the Indian box office, becoming only the 4th Malayalam movie of all-time to achieve the feat. ## Directed by Prithviraj Sukumaran, Empuraan scored approximately 4.50 crores gross collection on its 8th day, which took its total to around 103 crores gross domestically. The collection includes approximately 71.50 crores gross in the home state, Kerala. ## Empuraan is the 4th Malayalam film after Manjummel Boys (167.50+ crores gross), 2018 (110.50 crores gross), and Pulimurugan (100 crores gross), and the second for Mohanlal to score the milestone of 100 crores gross in the domestic market.## The film might become the biggest Mollywood grosser in India, but for that to happen, it needs to perform strongly outside Kerala, which hasn't happened due to mixed word of mouth. The previous biggest opener was Mohanlal's Marakkar with 20 crore gross worldwide. ## Directed by Prithviraj Sukumaran, Empuraan received mixed reviews, but despite that, it was in its full glory on the opening day. In India, the film grossed around 24.50 crores, including around 14 crores gross in the home state, Kerala. It has beaten Thalapathy Vijay's Leo (12+ crore gross) to score the biggest opening day in the state. ## While the domestic opening was gigantic, L2 also stunned the trade by grossing a mammoth $5 million (43+ crores gross), which is the biggest Malayalam opening and bigger than any Bollywood film at the overseas box office. It has already become the biggest Malayalam opener with pre-sales only but there is more to come. ## The pre-sales of Empuraan on the opening day are 35+ crores, and the same has crossed 50 crores gross for the entire opening weekend at the worldwide box office, with 3 days still left for the release. It has become the first Malayalam movie to hit 50 crores in sales before its release. ## At the overseas box office, Empuraan's pre-sales gross is nearing $4 million (30+ crore gross) while domestic sales are 23+ crore gross. 'L2: Empuraan' Breaks First Day Advance Booking Record In India

Kochi, March 22 - Superstar Mohanlal's highly-anticipated Malayalam action thriller L2: Empuraan has shattered a massive record in advance booking, beating the biggies of Bollywood and Tollywood industries. ## Empuraan is witnessing an unprecedented demand for tickets across Kerala state and this led to the record-breaking response on the first day itself. The pre-sales of the movie were opened on March 21, and in the first 24 hours, it sold 628K tickets on the ticketing platform Book My Show which is a record. ## No other film ever has sold more than 350K tickets in the first 24 hours of opening of advance booking on the platform. The previous biggest was Prabhas-fronted Kalki 2898 AD which sold 341.78K tickets on the first day and now, Empuraan has topped this by nearly a double margin. Superstar Shah Rukh Khan's Jawan is the third on the list with 253K tickets. ## These 628K tickets sold are for all days, and not necessarily for the opening day of the release. The movie is scheduled to hit the big screen on March 27, and for that day, it has already sold over 500K tickets which is the highest ever for a Malayalam title by a good margin. ## Meanwhile, in terms of advance gross collection, Empuraan has minted around 12 crores (including fan shows) for the first day in India. Worldwide, the pre-sales have crossed the 30 crore mark which is already the highest first-day collection for a Mollywood film.
