Kochi, June 5 - Prithviraj Sukumaran and Basil Joseph's comedy-drama Guruvayoor Ambalanadayil becomes the 10th highest-grossing Malayalam film of all-time at the worldwide box office.## Directed by Vipin Das, Guruvayoor Ambalanadayil has grossed approximately 85 crores in 21 days. In India, the movie has minted approximately 51.75 crores while the overseas collection is an estimated 33.25 crores so far, to become the 10th biggest Malayalam grosser ever. ## The movie has crossed RDX (82.75 crores) and will next beat Neru (85.60 crores) in the next couple of days and will be looking to top Bheeshma Parvam (88.20 crores) in the coming days to become the 8th biggest Mollywood title at the worldwide box office. ## In 2024, Malayalam cinema has been on the rise and Guruvayoor Ambalanadayil is one of the reasons for it. Kochi, June 3 - Actor Fahadh Faasil's action comedy Aavesham has completed its box office run with an excellent collection in India and worldwide despite missing a couple of milestones due to premature digital release.## Released on April 11, Aavesham scored the second-biggest opening week domestically for a Malayalam movie of 2024 with a collection of 35.45 crores gross, before showing an incredible hold in the second week for 29.10 crores, followed by another solid hold in the third with 21.70 crores gross. ## Aavesham was well on track to enter the 100 crores gross club in India but due to the early digital release after the 4th week, the collection dropped heavily in the following weeks which kept it under the 100 crores mark. Overall, the movie missed the 100 crore gross collection by just above 1 crore. ## Overseas, Jithu Madhavan's directorial has been one of the biggest hits with an estimated 56 crores gross collection, pushing the total worldwide to approximately 155 crores. Kochi, May 29 - Megastar Mammootty has his second 50 crores grosser of the year after the action comedy Turbo hits the milestone on its 6th day. Earlier, the horror thriller Bramayugam topped 50 crores gross collection worldwide. ## Directed by Vysakh, Turbo grossed approximately 2.10 crores domestically on its 6th day which took its total India collection to approximately 26 crores. Overseas, the movie has minted an estimated 25 crores, for worldwide approximately 51 crores gross. ## Turbo is the 8th Malayalam movie of 2024 to reach 50 crores at the worldwide box office. For superstar Mammootty, it is his 4th movie to top the milestone after Bheeshma Parvam, Kannur Squad, and Bramayugam. Interestingly, all four films have been released in the last two years. ## In the movie, Turbo Jose, a Jeep driver from Idukki, gets in trouble and is forced to relocate to Chennai, where he gets entangled with Indhulekha and his friend Jerry. Kochi, May 28 - Malayalam star Fahadh Faasil's action comedy Aavesham has emerged as a box office blockbuster but it will miss the coveted 100 crores gross, which once looked like a sure shot, in India due to the premature digital release. ## Directed by Jithu Madhavan, Aavesham was well on track to hit 100 crores gross collection domestically till 4th week. When things were looking all good, the movie was made available to stream online which had a drastic effect on its box office as the collection dropped by over 80% in the 5th week and it couldn't recover since then. ## In its 6th week, the movie minted just 37 lakhs gross, followed by 5 lakhs in the 7th weekend as a total domestic collection after 46 days is approximately 98.75 crores gross and it will finish around 99 crores in India. It could have become the second Malayalam movie of 2024 and 4th overall to top 100 crores gross domestically but this is not the case anymore. ## Nonetheless, despite missing out on the major milestone, Aavesham is one of the biggest Malayalam blockbusters of all time. Kochi, May 26 - Megastar Mammootty's Turbo has a fantastic opening weekend at the domestic and worldwide box office. Directed by Vysakh, the action comedy scored the second-biggest opening weekend for a Malayalam title in 2024, behind Prithviraj Sukumaran's Aadujeevitham. ## Turbo scored an estimated 5+ crores gross collection on its first Sunday which takes its total 4-day weekend to approximately 21.25 crores gross. Aadujeevitham grossed approximately 35 crores in its 4-day weekend and is currently the biggest Malayalam opener of the year. ## The Mammootty-starrer also has an excellent weekend at the Kerala box office with approximately 18 crores gross, including an estimated 4.25 crores on Sunday. Kochi, May 25 - The Malayalam film industry is reaching new heights in 2024 and for the very first time in its history, Malayalam movies have topped 1000 crores gross collection at the worldwide box office in a single year. ## The total worldwide collection of 2024 Malayalam movies is approximately 1030 crores gross, including 660 crores gross in India and 370 crores overseas, as of May 24. Domestically, Mollywood has contributed approximately 20% of the total collection this year, behind Hindi (40%) and Telugu (23%). ## The real-life inspired survival thriller Manjummel Boys has been the highest-grossing Malayalam film of 2024 with a worldwide collection of 241 crores, including 167.50 crores gross in India and 73.50 crores overseas. It is also the highest-grossing Mollywood title of all time. ## Among the other major contributors, Prithviraj Sukumaran's Aadujeevitham: The Goat Life and Fahadh Faasil-fronted Aavesham at the second and third position with 157.50 crores gross and 153.50 crores gross worldwide, respectively. Romantic-comedy Premalu is the 4th biggest with 131.50 crores worldwide collection. ## Mollywood had a slow start to the year with the disappointing outcome of a big-budget entertainer Malaikottai Vaaliban along with a couple of other anticipated films. Kochi, May 24 - Megastar Mammootty's action comedy Turbo set the box office on fire and scored the second biggest opening of 2024 for a Malayalam film after Prithviraj Sukumaran's blockbuster Aadujeevitham: The Goat Life.## Turbo has had one of the biggest releases for a Malayalam title. On its opening day, the movie minted approximately 7.20 crores gross collection at the Indian box office, including 6.15 crores gross in Kerala state alone which is the biggest opening for Mammootty. Aadujeevitham took the opening of 8.75 crores gross in India.## In Kerala, Turbo had the biggest start of the year and third biggest overall after Odiyan (6.75 crores) and Marakkar (6.25 crores). It is the second biggest opening for Prithviraj Sukumaran's career, behind Aadujeevitham which was released earlier this year. ## The opening of 8.15 crores gross of Guruvayoorambala Nadayil is the 4th biggest for a Malayalam title of 2024, behind Aadujeevitham (16 crores), Malaikottai Vaaliban (12.15 crores), and Aavesham (10.50 crores). The two of the three aforementioned films (except Vaaliban) went on to gross over 150 crores worldwide and are one of the biggest Malayalam blockbusters.## The word of mouth for Guruvayoorambala Nadayil is super positive and it is already coming into effect on the second with superb hold all over.
