Los Angeles, July 29 - Sony Pictures set to debut a Venom movie in the summer season for the first time as Tom Hardy's "Venom 3" has been confirmed to hit big screens on July 12, 2024. The first two movies, "Venom", and "Venom: Let There Be Carnage" opened in the month of October in 2018 and 2021, respectively. ## "Venom 3" release date puts in-between Disney's "Mufasa: The Lion King" (July 5, 2024) and Universal Pictures' "Twisters" (July 19, 2024). Tom Hardy has written the script for the third Venom installment with Kelly Marcel, who is also stepping into the director's chair to helm the Marvel superhero movie. ## The first Venom movie was highly successful, grossing $856 million at the worldwide box office. The sequel was released during the covid-19 pandemic and still grossed $502 million. Interestingly, "Venom 2" had a bigger opening with a $90 million opening weekend in North America as compared to its predecessor's $80 million start.## Apart from the setting "Venom 3" release date, Sony made several major changes to its release calendar, including delaying "Kraven the Hunter" to August 30, 2024, from October this year and a "Ghostbusters: Afterlife" sequel to March 29, 2024, from December this year. ## Meanwhile, "Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse", which was supposed to hit screens on March 29, 2024, has now been postponed indefinitely by the studio due to SAG-AFTRA's strike. Margot Robbie-led "Barbie" and director Christopher Nolan's "Oppenheimer", two completely opposite films brought in over $15 million combined gross collection in their opening week in India. ## Nolan's atom bomb movie, "Oppenheimer" has been by far the biggest movie since its release in India with a gross collection of 87 crores ($10.5 million) in the first week. The movie had a fantastic opening weekend of 58 crores gross, before showing a very good hold during the weekdays to score approx. 29 crores gross from Monday to Thursday. ## "Oppenheimer" has already become the highest-grossing film of Nolan in India after beating his superhero movie "Batman: The Dark Knight Rises" in just 4 days. It will be crossing 100 crores gross during its second weekend and will become the second Hollywood movie of the month after "Mission Impossible 7" and 3rd of the year after "Fast X" to do so. ## Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling-starrer fantasy comedy film "Barbie" clocked 32.50 crores gross (~$4 million) in its first week at the Indian box office, and was the second most-watched movie during its week in India. Directed by Greta Gerwig, "Barbie" had a good opening weekend with 22 crores gross. It witnessed a drop on Monday but held extremely well since then to bring in another 10.50 crores (Mon-Thu).## The combined first-week collection of Barbenheimer (Barbie and Oppenheimer) is approx. 129 crores ($15.70 million) which is huge. Mumbai, July 24 - The Rise of Hollywood films in India has been exceptional over the last few years where English films are consistently performing well at the box office. In the first half of 2023, there have been at least, 3 films (outside Marvel and DC) which have emerged as big hits, and now, things went a notch higher in the first month of the second half, July.## In July, three of the biggest Hollywood films of the year were released in the form of "Mission Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One", "Oppenheimer", and "Barbie" and all three have emerged as super successes. It began with Tom Cruise's "MI7" which is nearing 100 crores net (already crossed 100 crores gross), and the momentum continued with "Barbenheimer" mania, which literally has set the box office on fire. This past weekend (July 21-23), "Oppenheimer", "Barbie" and "MI7" scored an estimated $11.5 million (95 crores) in what is one of the biggest all-time single weekends for Hollywood movies in India. ## Oppenheimer - Maverick director Christopher Nolan's atom bomb movie has had an excellent opening weekend and is the biggest for the filmmaker in India. After taking the biggest Hollywood opening of 17.50 crores ($2.1M) of the year here, "Oppenheimer" concluded the 3-day weekend on high with 58 crores gross ($7 million), and it will become the biggest film of Nolan in India by the end of its 4th day. India was the second-biggest international market for the film that otherwise was second to "Barbie" in almost all the markets.## Barbie - The Margot Robbie-led fantasy comedy movie got the benefit of the Barbenheimer phenomena in India at least and smiled with a $2.7 million (22 crores) 3-day opening weekend. The movie has had a limited release in only the English version and has done very well at the box office. The Warner Bros. The total collection through the first Saturday reaches around 32 crores net (~38 crores gross).## The brand value of Christopher Nolan is driving massive biz. It is mainly in the original English format as the Hindi version contributed just 15% to the opening day collection. The same trend is also being witnessed on its second day as well where the English version is ruling the overall biz. ## The fellow Hollywood movie, "Barbie" also witnessed a good jump today after a good opening day of 5 crores net. It is set to overcome industry projections and is now eyeing a mammoth $140+ million opening weekend launch. ## Christopher Nolan's atom bomb movie "Oppenheimer" too is set for a huge weekend after explosive $10.50 million Thursday previews, the biggest ever for Christopher Nolan's original film. Los Angeles, July 20 - Margot Robbie-led fantasy comedy film "Barbie" is about to begin its party at the box office. The Great Gerwig's directorial has been one of the hotly anticipated Hollywood movies and it is set to win the opening weekend at the domestic (North America) box office. ## "Barbie" is having insane pre-sales domestically, as according to Deadline, the film has sold the highest number of tickets since James Cameron's "Avatar: The Way of Water" hit theaters back in mid-December of last year.## While the advance booking numbers are not revealed, it is believed to be historical, this too, when the movie will directly indulging a clash with Christopher Nolan's "Oppenheimer" which is raising eyebrows in the trade as well as the studio.## According to the Box Office Company (via Deadline), Barbie is outrunning every other movie so far this year.
