Chennai, December 17 - Tamil star Chiyaan Vikram teamed up with director Pa Ranjith for a period action drama film titled Thangalaan. The film is set during British rule in India and is about the tribal leader Thangalaan's valiant struggle against the British after they plot to seize their land for gold mining. ## Chiyaan Vikram recently shared on social media that he has started dubbing work for the movie, which gave the impression the film would be ready to release by January 26, 2024, as announced earlier. But now, according to the latest reports, Thangalaan is set to be pushed from its original date. ## It is said that the makers have submitted the film to screen in multiple prestigious national and international film festivals, and for that reason, it has been pushed to June 2024 release in multiple languages. Chennai, December 16 - Blockbuster Tamil director Lokesh Kanagaraj will next be directing superstar Rajinikanth in an action-packed entertainer, tentatively titled Thalaivar 171. The film marks the maiden film of the duo, and director Lokesh has planned to make it a high-octane action thriller which Rajinikanth hasn't done in a long time. ## Thalaivar 171 will be a Pan India release and for this, director Lokesh is in the process of locking a Bollywood star for an extended role. Over the last few weeks, there have been rumours that the filmmaker approached superstar Shah Rukh Khan for a key role in the movie, however, it wasn't confirmed by trusted sources. ## Now, according to a report in Pinkvilla, SRK was indeed approached for the movie but he politely declined the offer. It is said that SRK doesn't want to feature in an extended role though he has huge respect for legendary Rajinikanth. The Jawan actor declined the offer saying that he is focussing on doing standalone movies as he has done a few cameo appearances over the last couple of years and is not interested in doing anymore at this point. ## The report further added that even though SRK is not doing Thalaivar 171, he has shown interest in doing a standalone movie with Lokesh Kanagraj if he wants and come up with a good script. The duo might collaborate after some time in the future. ## Lokesh, meanwhile, has discussed the same part with Ranveer Singh now and the actor is showing keen interest in coming on board. The Leo director has also discussed the possibilities of a spin-off to the character if Thalaivar 171 succeeds. The more clarity about the same will be known soon. Chennai, December 13 - Director Lokesh Kanagaraj's much-talked-about cinematic universe (LCU) is about to its origin story in the form of a short film. Lokesh Cinematic Universe (LCU) has been the best thing that happened to the Kollywood industry in the last few years and the fans are keen to know what is in store for them next. ## As confirmed earlier, Karthi's "Kaithi 2" will be the next full-fledged film in the LCU but before that, a 10-minute short film about its origin will be released. Interestingly, "Kaithi" was the first film in the LCU, followed by Kamal Haasan's "Vikram", and Thalapathy Vijay's "Leo". ## Narain, the renowned actor in Tamil and Malayalam cinema, said in a press conference for the upcoming Malayalam film "Queen Elizabeth" that he is collaborating with Lokesh on a brief 10-minute short film that unveils the origin story of LCU and it will be released before "Kaithi 2" which begins late 2024. ## The last film in the LCU was "Leo", released in October this year. The next film, "Kaithi 2" will mainly focus on the back story of Karthi's character Dilli. Mumbai, November 29 - After completing its box office run, Thalapathy Vijay's blockbuster Leo recently started streaming on Netflix, and surprisingly, the Hindi version turned out to be the most-watched in India in its first weekend. ## "Leo" debuted on Netflix on November 24 in India while it started streaming globally on November 28. During the week of November 20 - November 26, the Hindi version of the movie was the most-watched title in India. Netflix doesn't reveal data for a particular country. ## At the box office, the "Leo" Hindi version grossed approx. 32 crores despite not getting released in multiplex chains. It was a missed opportunity for the makers to not get a proper release in Hindi which is now benefitting Netflix. ## The original Tamil version of "Leo" was the third most-watched title in India during the same week, followed by the Telugu version at number 4. Chennai, November 20 - Thalapathy Vijay's action blockbuster Leo is nearing its box office run after debuting in theatres on October 19. The Lokesh Kanagaraj's directorial has grossed over 600 crores at the worldwide box office and is currently the third highest-grossing Tamil movie of all time. ## There is not much gas left in the film to fire at the box office, and as pre-scheduled, the gangster drama is gearing up for its streaming debut on Netflix. "Leo" will be streaming on Netflix after 5 weeks in all the languages in which it was released in theatres. ## On Monday (November 20), Netflix officially confirmed that the film will start streaming from November 24 in Hindi and November 28 globally, in Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, Malayalam, and Kannada, languages. The shoot of the movie is currently in progress for 2024 release, and as speculated, the movie will be released in two parts.## Over the last few months, it has been reported that director Shankar would split the "Indian" sequel into 2 parts as the story of the movie can't be told in one film. Chennai, November 4 - Thalapathy Vijay's mega-hit Leo becomes the second film to hit 200 crores gross collection at the Tamil Nadu box office, after Mani Ratnam's "Ponniyin Selvan - 1" last year. ## Lokesh Kanagaraj's directorial movie grossed approximately 198.60 crores until yesterday (16 days) and with today's collection, it will go past the 200 crores mark. Superstar Rajinikanth's "Jailer" is the third highest-grossing movie in the state with over 189 crores. ## "Leo" has been on a dream run since its debut on October 19. The movie has slowed down over the last few days but still has enough gas in it to keep going. The film is now targeting history in Tamil Nadu of becoming the biggest-grosser by crossing "PS-1's" 213 crores gross. ## Produced by Seven Screen Studio, "Leo" has grossed approximately 561 crores at the worldwide box office in 16 days. Sources added that the movie will go on floors in 2024 and will release in 2025. This is likely to be a huge project given that it is about one of India’s music legends and has uber-talented Dhanush playing the role. The project is said to be produced by Connekkt Media", the tweet reads.## Isaignani Illaiyaraaja is one of the most decorated Indian musicians. He has worked in over 1000 films and has been awarded Padma Vibhushan and Padma Bhushan by the government of India along with 5 national awards. ## Interestingly, Yuvan Shankar Raja, who is the third and youngest child of Ilaiyaraaja, had said a few months back that he would love to see Dhanush playing the role of his father in his biopic and it seems, things are falling in place. Chennai, October 30 - Thalapathy Vijay's action drama Leo has become the second highest-grossing film in Tamil Nadu, beating superstar Rajinikanth's mega-blockbuster "Jailer". Lokesh Kanagaraj's directorial is also inching towards hitting the 200 crores mark in the state. ## The latest Lokesh Cinematic Universe (LCU) blockbuster crossed "Jailer" in 12 days. The Rajini-led movie scored approximately 189.50 crores gross collection in Tamil Nadu and "Leo" scored around 191.50 crores. It is now behind only Mani Ratnam's "Ponniyin Selvan - 1" which grossed approx. 213 crores last year. ## "Leo" will become only the second movie to top 200 crores gross in Tamil Nadu and it is heading towards finishing around 210 crores gross. The movie, however, has the potential to become the number 1 movie in the state and it needs to hold strong during the weekdays. ## Produced by Seven Screen Studio, the third LCU movie has already become the third highest-grossing Tamil movie of all time at the worldwide box office.
