Box Office: 'Sitaare Zameen Par' Opening Day Early Estimates

Mumbai, June 20 - Superstar Aamir Khan's comedy drama Sitaare Zameen Par has taken a decent start at the domestic box office. The film picked up well towards the evening and night shows, and managed to cross the double-digit mark by a decent margin. ## According to early estimates, SZP has scored in the range of 11-12 crores net collection. It was also released in Telugu and Tamil, in which, it has earned around 15-20 lakh collection. The trade was expecting an 8-9 crores opening, so considering that, it is a decent start. ## The opening of Sitaare Zameen Par is almost in the same range as Aamir's last film, Laal Singh Chaddha, which scored around 11.75 crores net in all versions. Another similarity between both films is that their genre are the same, and both performed best in urban centres. ## The audience word of mouth for SZP is on the positive side, and the advances for the weekend are much better, which indicates solid growth on Saturday and Sunday. Mumbai, June 20 - Bollywood star Ajay Devgn's romantic action comedy Son of Sardaar 2 is reportedly getting a solo release as Maddock Films' romantic comedy Param Sundari is set to be delayed, according to the report by Peepingmoon.com. ## There had been speculation about the postponement of Param Sundari for some time, but the makers recently announced that it would be released on July 25, on the same day SOS2 hits the big screen. But the Maddock has now decided to postpone Sidharth Malhotra and Janhvi Kapoor's film. ## Producer Dinesh Vijan of Maddock believes that Param Sundari has a strong chance of succeeding at the box office, and he doesn’t want it to get lost in a crowded release schedule. Both SOS2 and Param Sundari are in the same genre, but the former has more face value due to star power and franchise. ## Vijan has strategically opted to reposition the film to ensure it receives the attention it deserves, both for its narrative and its music. The political drama has now been titled as The Bengal Files: Right To Life, which is the third film in Agnihotri's Files trilogy after The Tashkent Files (2019) and The Kashmir Files (2022). ## Taking to social media on Tuesday, Agnihotri shared the new title along with a poster of the film, which examines the horrific communal violence that took place in undivided Bengal during the 1940s. The filmmaker announced that the teaser of the movie will be out on June 5, while the film will hit the big screen on September 5 this year. ## The Bengal Files: Right To Life delves into historical events such as the Direct Action Day and the Noakhali riots. Agnihotri has described these incidents as a "Hindu genocide" and expressed his intent to bring to light a largely neglected chapter of Indian history. "This is the truth, and I know it will attract a lot of criticism, but that will not deter me from saying the truth," he said in a recent interview. ## Produced by Abhishek Agarwal Arts and I Am Buddha, the film stars Mithun Chakraborty, Anupam Kher, Pallavi Joshi, Puneet Issar, Govind Namdeo, Mohan Kapur, and Satwant Kaur, among others, in key roles. YRF Pauses Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan's 'Tiger vs Pathaan'?

Mumbai, June 10 - Yash Raj Films' ambitious crossover Tiger vs Pathaan has reportedly been shelved. The spy action thriller was supposed to bring together Indian cinema's two biggest stars, Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan, for the first time in full-fledged roles since Karan Arjun. ## According to the report by Peepingmoon.com, YRF's head, Aditya Chopra, is reassessing the future of Spy Universe to give it a new direction. It is said that Chopra is concerned about spy universe films becoming formulaic and "veering towards repetition". ## Chopra believes that the franchise needs a revitalised approach to storytelling and presentation, and in this process, the studio has reportedly paused the development of Tiger vs Pathaan, which was supposed to start rolling in late 2026. ## YRF next has Hrithik Roshan and Jr. NTR's War 2, scheduled to hit the big screen on August 14, followed by Alia Bhatt's Alpha in December this year.
