Aamir Khan Opts For Strategic Release of 'Sitaare Zameen Par'

Mumbai, June 11 - Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan is opting for a strategic release of his upcoming film Sitaare Zameen Par, which debuts on the big screen on June 20. The film is the spiritual successor to Khan's 2007 film Taare Zameen Par.

Sitaare Zameen Par has been in the news for all the right reasons. It has already been confirmed that the movie won't be released on any OTT platform after its theatrical release, a decision which is being enjoyed by exhibitors.



According to the report by Pinkvilla, Aamir, along with his national distributing partner, PVR-Inox, has decided to give a platform release to Sitaare Zameen Par, which is basically to increase the shows on a real-time basis throughout the day. It is a one of its kind strategy to release the film.

It is said that Aamir Khan is super confident of the film, but he is also well aware of the change in audience dynamics post the Covid-19 pandemic. Keeping this in mind, the makers have reportedly decided to release the film on around 1200 screens nationwide on the opening day.

The idea is to add more screens based on audience word of mouth. "The release will be more concentrated towards the high-performing cinema halls in the respective areas, before slowly transitioning to the mass belts on demand", says the report.



The good thing is that no one knows when the film will be available on home media since Aamir has decided not to release it on OTT, and this gives the makers enough time to implement their release strategy. It will also have the same kind of release in international markets, but the details are not known yet.

Sitaare Zameen Par is directed by R. S. Prasanna and produced by Aamir Khan Productions. The movie is scheduled to hit the big screen on June 20.
