Aamir Khan's 'Sitaare Zameen Par' Cleared By CBFC
Mumbai, June 17 - Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan's much-awaited comedy drama Sitaare Zameen Par, which is the adaptation of the 2018 Spanish film Champions, has reportedly been cleared by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) for June 20 release.
Directed by RS Prasanna, the film was in trouble over a few scenes, as the CBFC stalled the censor formalities and requested a couple of cuts. However, Aamir and director Prasanna disagreed with the same, according to a report by Bollywood Hungama.
It is said that the film has now been cleared by the CBFC, though it is not mentioned how both parties reached a consensus, as per the report. The film is reportedly 2 hours and 35 minutes long, making it shorter than Taare Zameen Par, of which the upcoming film is a spiritual prequel.
Produced by Aamir Khan Productions, Sitaare Zameen Par follows a suspended basketball coach who must serve community service by helping a team of players with disabilities prepare for a tournament. It also stars Genelia Deshmukh alongside 10 newcomers in key roles.
