Box Office: Top 5 Punjabi Films With Biggest Opening Day In India; Jatt and Juliet 3 Eyes Second Spot

New Delhi, June 28 - 2024 has been a poor year for the Punjabi film industry with only two films (Shinda Shinda No Papa and Jatt Nuu Chudail Takri) able to score double-digit collections at the domestic as well as the worldwide box office.

After the dull first 5 months, the first half of the year is expected to end on a strong note with Diljit Dosanjh and Neeru Bajwa's Jatt & Juliet 3 which is the third instalment and first since 2013 of the duo's blockbuster romantic comedy franchise.



Jatt and Juliet 3 scored the highest-ever opening day pre-sales for a Punjabi film with close to 1.50 crores gross. With this sort of advance, the movie could have easily emerged as the biggest Pubjabi opener but it faced a mighty challenge in the form of Kalki 2898 AD which has taken the nation by storm.

The movie, however, still scored the second-biggest opening ever for a Punjabi title with 3.50 crores net, behind Carry On Jatta 3 which took the opening of a huge 4.55 crores net and went on to become the first Punjabi movie to score 100 crores worldwide gross. J&J3 has beaten Dosanjh's film, Honsla Rakh to take the second-best opening.
