Sivakarthikeyan's Madharaasi Struggles To Reach 100 Crore Worldwide

Chennai, September 15 - Tamil star Sivakarthikeyan's psychological action thriller Madharaasi was released amid decent hype, but it surprised everyone by opening to better-than-expected collection at the worldwide box office. However, things haven't gone as planned since then for the movie. Directed by AR Murugadoss, Madharaasi had a good opening weekend worldwide with approximately 62 crores. At that point, the movie looked like a sure-shot blockbuster, but after the opening weekend, the pace had slowed down, as the movie had been struggling to reach 100 crores globally. In the second weekend, the maiden collaboration between Sivakarthikeyan and Murugadoss has managed to gross only 10-11 crores worldwide, dropping by a huge over 80% from the first frame. The film's total collection through the second frame (10 days) is around 91 crores gross, including around 67 crores in India. Madharaasi will still be able to cross 100 crores worldwide, but it will take a lot of effort for the film to reach there. A milestone, which looked inevitable at one point, has become a mountain to climb. The early word of mouth suggested a positive reception, but the sharp downward trend has dampened the momentum. Much now depends on whether the film can stabilise during the weekdays and attract audiences to go beyond the century mark. Stay tuned...

Top Bollywood Films Post-Pandemic Footfalls Ranking: Shah Rukh Khan's Jawan Leads As Six Movies Top 3 Crore Admits

Mumbai, September 14 – The post-pandemic era has been a rollercoaster for Bollywood, with the industry witnessing both unprecedented highs and major setbacks. The box office dynamics in this age and era have changed drastically, where the brand value doesn't guarantee success. However, in the post-pandemic world, Bollywood has reached new highs, not just once, but on many occasions, with record collections, and those films have managed to pull massive footfalls, reaffirming the enduring charm of the big screen. According to the estimates, six Bollywood blockbusters have managed to breach the coveted 3 crore footfalls mark since cinemas reopened in late 2021, proving that audiences are still willing to flock to theatres when offered the right blend of entertainment, star power, and emotion. Topping the list is Shah Rukh Khan's action phenomenon Jawan, which stands tall with 3.80 crore admissions, making it the most-watched Bollywood film of the post-pandemic period. The film's pan-India appeal, coupled with Atlee's mass entertainer packaging, made it a cultural event across the country. Not far behind is SRK's comeback film Pathaan, which kick-started the revival wave for Hindi cinema in early 2023. Sunny Deol's Gadar 2, fueled by nostalgia and patriotic fervour, follows closely with over 3.40 crore admissions, proving that emotional connect remains as powerful as ever. Ranbir Kapoor's intense action drama Animal registered over 3 crore admissions, marking it as a remarkable run for an A-rated film in India. Shraddha Kapoor's horror-comedy Stree 2 and Vicky Kaushal's Chhaava were among the biggest surprises in recent times as they managed to top 3 crore admissions each in India. Meanwhile, Allu Arjun's Pushpa 2 - The Rule remains the biggest blockbuster in Hindi with an estimated 3.90 crores tickets sold. Top Bollywood Films' Theatrical Performance In Post-Covid Era (Est.) No Valentine's Day Release: Kartik Aaryan, Ananya Pandey's Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri Gets Rescheduled To An Earlier Date

Mumbai, September 14 – Kartik Aaryan and Ananya Panday's much-awaited romantic comedy drama Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri has undergone a major release date shift after backing out of Valentine's Day debut. The film, which was earlier locked for February 13, 2026, will now arrive much earlier, hitting the big screens on January 31, 2025, coinciding with the New Year's weekend. The decision to prepone the release has surprised many, but the industry insider believes that it is to avoid the Valentine's Day rush as well as the film's early availability. By arriving in January instead of February, the film has secured a relatively open window. The New Year period is also considered a lucrative time for releases, with audiences in a festive mood and ready to embrace big-screen spectacles. Produced on a grand scale by Karan Johar's Dharma Productions and Namah Pictures, Tu Meri Main Tera marks another collaboration between Kartik Aaryan and Ananya Panday after their earlier pairing in Pati Patni Aur Woh. It also marks Kartik's reunion with director Sameer Vidwans after Satyeprem Ki Katha. The romantic entertainer is said to be high on music, emotions, and youthful charm — making it a potential crowd-puller. With its new release date locked, Tu Meri Main Tera now becomes one of the most anticipated Bollywood films of early 2026. Fans of Kartik and Ananya can look forward to celebrating the New Year with a fresh dose of romance on the big screen. Mirai 2 Days Box Office: Teja Sajja Delivers Big Again

Hyderabad, September 14 – After the monumental success of HanuMan last year, many debated if actor Teja Sajja could deliver the same success again, as trade believed that the success of HanuMan was associated with its theme, which is rooted in Indian history. The young, unbothered about the chatter, started working on his next film Mirai silently, and putting all the debates to rest, the film has opened to a huge collection at the worldwide box office. The sci-fi action entertainer, directed by Karthik Ghattamaneni, has resonated with audiences across the Telugu states and beyond. Backed by strong pre-release buzz and positive word of mouth, Mirai witnessed a fantastic opening of around 23.50 crores worldwide, which is the biggest for Teja Sajja, with packed shows in major centres. On its second day, the film rose above the pre-release buzz and showed the power of word of mouth as it delivered growth, which is not a regular thing in Telugu cinema. As per early estimates, the film has minted over 24 crores gross worldwide on day 2, pushing the 2-day total to over 47 crores, which is an excellent collection for the talent involved. The film's youthful concept, high-quality visuals, and engaging action sequences have made it a hot favourite among younger audiences, while family crowds, too, are turning up in large numbers to experience the divine touch of it. With two back-to-back box office successes, Teja Sajja is rapidly rising as one of Tollywood's most bankable young stars. While many people will still associate Mirai's success with its theme, which is similar to Hanuman's, Teja Sajja's ability to blend unique scripts with commercial appeal should be applauded. The actor's script selection has not only won him a loyal fan following but also positioned him as a promising force in the industry. As Mirai continues its triumphant run, all eyes are now on where the film will land in the all-time charts and whether Teja Sajja can replicate the historic success of HanuMan. Stay tuned...

Kalyani Priyadarshan's Lokah Triumphs Overseas Box Office; Tops 100 Crore

Kochi, September 13 - Kalyani Priyadarshan's superhero saga Lokah Chapter 1: Chandra continues to run riot at the worldwide box office. The Dominic Arun directorial is on its way to becoming the second-highest-grossing Malayalam film worldwide by the end of this weekend. While Lokah continues to triumph at the global box office, it has registered yet another historic milestone by becoming only the second Malayalam film of all time to top 100 crores gross collection overseas, reaching there on its 16th day. Malayalam giant Mohanlal's political action thriller Empuraan is currently the number 1 overseas grosser with over 142 crores gross collection. Lokah, even though it might not emerge as the number 1 Malayalam overseas grosser, the film has enough stamina left to come close to Empuraan, which is remarkable. The pre-release buzz and strong word of mouth propelled Lokah to a sensational opening worldwide, followed by strong legs during the weekdays. While the domestic collections had already soared past 100 crore, the film's international reception has been equally impressive. It has performed best in the Middle East, which has historically been the strongest international market for Malayalam cinema. At the worldwide box office, the first film in Dulquer Salmaan's Wayfarer Cinematic Universe has grossed approximately 225 crores, including 123.50+ crores gross domestically. It will cross Thudarum (235+ crores worldwide) and Manjummel Boys (241+ crores) by the end of the third weekend, and become the second biggest Mollywoog grosser of all-time. Currently, Mohanlal's Empuraan (267 crores) is the number one, and Lokah will look to take down this coming days to claim the historic top spot. Stay tuned...

Rajinikanth's Coolie Shatters Aamir Khan's Superhero Dream With Lokesh Kanagaraj?

Mumbai, September 13 - Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan's courtesy cameo in director Lokesh Kanagaraj's recently released Coolie seems to have backfired. The actor played a cameo role as Dahaa, a gangster, in the film, which didn't go as planned for him. While Aamir Khan called his cameo a big moment as he got to share screen space with Rajinikanth, the audience didn't resonate with this character, and called it one of the weakest parts of the film. Apart from the cameo, the Dangal star also confirmed a full-fledged superhero film with Lokesh Kanagaraj, which was supposed to start rolling next year. There have been reports that Aamir Khan's superhero film with Lokesh has been shelved after the criticism for his cameo in Coolie. Now, according to Bollywood Hungama, the duo has indeed parted ways, but the reason is not Coolie, but rather the script. "Aamir Khan and Lokesh Kanagaraj have parted ways on their next film. The real reason the project was shelved is the script. While Aamir prefers to have the entire screenplay locked much in advance, Lokesh believes in the idea of having a draft in place and writing through the process of shooting," says the report. It is said that Aamir Khan wanted Lokesh to fully focus on the script as he believed that it had the scope to redefine Indian Cinema. However, the director insisted on following his own process of work, which didn't go well with the actor on the creative front, and decided to part ways on a good note with the intent of collaborating in the future.
