Akshay Kumar's 'Sooryavanshi' Remains The Highest-Grossing Indian Film At The UK Box Office 2021
Mumbai, January 13 - Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif-starrer "Sooryavanshi" turned out to be a savior for the Bollywood film industry in the last year. The cop-drama not only became the biggest Bollywood hit during the covid-19 pandemic but also emerged as the highest grosser of the year with a worldwide collection of Rs. 293 crores.## Directed by Rohit Shetty, "Sooryavanshi" grossed Rs. 230.8 crores in India while its overseas collection finished at Rs. 62.2 crores. Meanwhile, it was the highest-grossing Indian film at the United Kingdom box office 2021. Released by Reliance Entertainment, it generated a total of £584,469 (Rs. 5.92 crores) over six weeks, according to Comscore (via BollyNewsUK).## Ranveer Singh-starrer sports biopic "83", which is also released by Reliance Entertainment, is the second-highest-grossing Indian film in the UK with £526,321 (Rs. 5.33 crores) and still running while Punjabi movie "Honsla Rakh", starring Diljit Dosanjh, and Shehnaaz Gill, takes 3rd spot with £468,153 (Rs. 4.74 crores). It was released by White Hill Productions.## Among the top 10 Indian grosser of 2021 in the UK, 4 Punjabi movies make into the list followed by 3 Bollywood titles, and apiece Telugu, Tamil, and Malayalam. Dulqueer Salmaan's Malayama blockbuster "Kurup" (6th) grossed Rs. 2.38 crores while Rajinikanth's "Annaatthe" (8th) minted Rs. 1.88 crores and recent Telugu blockbuster "Pushpa - The Rise", starring Allu Arjun scored Rs. 1.63 crores and is currently at the number 10 in the list. ## The big-budget Hindi films such as Radhe, Antim: The Final Truth, Bunty Aur Babli 2, Bell Bottom, and Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui failed to make the list of the highest-grossing Indian films at the box office.
