Mumbai, March 29 - Dharma Productions has announced that the shooting of the keenly awaited superhero film, "Brahmāstra Part One: Shiva" has been wrapped up in Varansi. The film, directed by Ayan Mukerji, stars an ensemble including Amitabh Bachchan, Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Mouni Roy, and Nagarjuna Akkineni in prominent roles. ## Karan Johar, head of Dharma Productions, took to Twitter and announced the shoot wrap with a video and also shared pictures of Ranbir, Alia, and Ayan. "And this wonderful, exciting, thrilling journey...one filled with the utmost hardwork, dedication, love & passion has come to an end. It was originally announced for a 2019 release but the delay in production pushed it further. The covid-19 pandemic further pushed shooting and release plans. The makers recently announced that the movie will now be released in theaters worldwide on September 9, 2022, in Hindi, Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, and Kannada, in standard formats, 3D, and IMAX 3D. ## The first look motion posters of Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt were recently unveiled. The film apparently is set in two timeframes. Los Angeles, March 29 - Hollywood star Will Smith was one of the highlights at the 94th Academy Awards, held on March 27-28. While he won his first Oscars ever for his portrayal of Richard Williams in "King Richard", the 53-year old actor faced criticism for his misconduct with comedian Chris Rock at the star-studded ceremony. ## Chris Rock, who was on the stage to present the Oscar for documentary feature, made a joke about Will's wife being in "G.I. Jane" because of her shaved head. However, the joke didn't go well with Will Smith as he took the stage and slapped the comedian which stunned everyone. He later apologized to Academy while receiving his Oscars but didn't apologize to Rock. ## However, a day later, Will Smith realized his misconduct and offered an apology to Rock via Instagram post and said that his "behavior was unacceptable and inexcusable". RRR vs Baahubali 2 Opening Weekend Worldwide Gross Comparison

Hyderabad, March 28 - SS Rajamouli's "RRR", has roared at the worldwide box office, as expected. With Everest-like expectations, the period action drama delivered big time and was the number 1 movie worldwide during its 3-day opening weekend, becoming the first Indian title since "Padmaavat" in July 2018, to gross 500 crores (502 Cr.). ## While the opening weekend box office numbers of "RRR" are no less than blockbuster stuff, the movie fell an inch short to create an all-time record for an Indian title. Rajamouli's own historical action drama film, "Baahubali 2: The Conclusion", retained its record of scoring approx. 512 crores worldwide in 2017 in the first weekend. ## "RRR" has had direct competition with "Baahubali 2" as far as the box office is concerned and it nearly equaled BB2's record. Comparing the day-wise worldwide gross, "RRR" scored 223 crores gross on the first day against 217 crores of BB2. However, BB2 came above "RRR" on the next two days with approx. 140 crores and 153 crores against 127 crores and 150 crores, respectivaly of "RRR". ## At the Indian box office, the latest blockbuster flick grossed 380 crores in the first three days while during the same time, "Baahubali 2" did gross 382 crores. State-wise, the Jr. NTR/Ram Charan-fronted made 203.5 crores gross against 105.7 gross of BB2 in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana during the first weekend. The massive gap between the two movies in AP/TG was mainly because of the higher ticket prices for "RRR". ## Apart from AP/TG, both "RRR" and "Baahubali 2" were neck to neck in Karnataka (38.5 Cr. vs 39 Cr.) and Tamil Nadu (32 Cr. vs 31.75 Cr.). However, the former legged behind the ATBB in Kerala with 12 crores against 17 crores of BB2. In North belt, there is no comparison between the two movies as BB2 was miles ahead of "RR". While BB2 generated 188.3 crores, "RRR" could only manage to made 94 crores (still excellent) in North region during the debut weekend. ## Overseas, the current global box office sensation has grossed approx. 122 crores while "Baahubali 2" was a little bit stronger with 130 crores. Hyderabad, March 28 - SS Rajamouli-directed "RRR" took just 3 days to set the Indian box office on fire and break the unreachable post-pandemic target. The period action drama has become the first Indian movie since "War" (2019) to cross 300 crores net at the box office. ## The Jr. NTR and Ram Charan-fronted with Ajay Devgn and Alia Bhatt in important roles, "RRR" scored 317 crores net in all languages. In the original Telugu version, the movie has scored 209.48 crores, while in Tamil, Malayalam, and Kannada, the film minted 30.38 crores. ## Meanwhile, the Hindi version was in full flow over the weekend and generated 75.32 crores net. It also recorded the second-biggest opening weekend in Hindi during the pandemic after "Sooryavanshi" (77.09 crores). The movie grew from strength to strength after taking the opening of 20.07 crores on Friday, before jumping on Saturday to 23.75 crores and 31.50 crores on Sunday. ## Overseas, "RRR" scored approx. 120 crores gross in the first 3 days. At the USA box office, the critically hailed film minted $9.4 million (71.55 cr.) in the first weekend, which is the second-biggest start for an Indian movie ever after "Baahubali 2" ($10.4M). The Tom Holland-starrer has stunned the trade section with its historical biz at the worldwide box office amid the covid-19 pandemic. ## The Marvel/Sony's superhero flick has done an unthinkable and crossed $800 million at the domestic (North America) box office. On its 15th weekend, it earned another $2 million, which took it past $800M at $800.5M. The movie was released in theaters worldwide in December 2021 and opened to a massive $250M+ in North America. ## At one point, the now breached box office milestone was looking a far cry. SS Rajamouli's period action drama film, "RRR", and Vivek Agnihotri's "The Kashmir Files" together brought about 95 crores net this weekend at the Hindi box office. ## "The Kashmir Files", which is based on the true facts of the exodus of Kashmiri Pandits, is putting on strong legs despite the onslaught of "RRR". After ruling the first two weeks, TKF registered another solid 3rd weekend at the box office, entering the top 10 biggest 3rd weekend grosser of all-time in Hindi. ## The Anupam Kher-starrer scored 20.85 crores (-70.27% vs 2nd weekend) and became the 8th biggest Hindi movie in the 3rd weekend, beating "Bajirao Mastani" (20.51 Cr.), and "Bajrangi Bhaijaan" (19.98 Cr.) to enter the top list of all-time. Prabhas-fronted "Baahubali 2" remains the highest-grossing Hindi film in the 3rd weekend with 42.55 crores, followed by Aamir Khan-starrer "Dangal" with 31.77 crores. ## The top 10 biggest 3rd weekend grosser in Hindi are as follows - 1. It has become the first Indian movie since Aamir Khan-fronted "Thugs Of Hindostan" (2018) to reach the box office milestone. ## At the USA box office, "RRR" had the second biggest launch ever after "Baahuabli 2" ($10.4M) for an Indian movie, grossing $9.7 million (74 cr.) in the first 3 days. The film landed at number three this weekend in the USA, after "The Lost City" ($31M), and "The Batman" ($20.5M). ## Apart from the USA, the Jr. NTR/Ram Charan-fronted movie has done approx. $1.10 million (8.39 cr.) at the Australia and New Zealand box office, followed by the United Kingdom ($875K or 6.68 cr.), and approx. $2 million (15.25 cr.) in the rest of the world.
