Mumbai, May 16 - SS Rajamouli's global blockbuster, "RRR" is all set to premiere its Hindi version on Netflix from June 2nd. The period action drama starring Jr. NTR, Ram Charan, Alia Bhatt, and Ajay Devgn, in playing in theaters since March 25th and has had a glorious run at the box office so far. ## Netflix had already acquired the global streaming rights for the Hindi version of the film a long time ago. The Hindi version will stream after 70 days of its theatrical release, as planned earlier. The Pan-India biggie, which was released on April 14 in theaters worldwide, has been on a dream box office run and grossed over 1170 crores worldwide so far, the third biggest ever for an Indian movie. ## Directed by Prashanth Neel, "KGF Chapter 2" has completed 5 weekends at the box office and is nearing its end, though the Hindi version is still going strong. Box Office: Punjabi Movie 'Saunkan Saunkne' Scored A Blockbuster Opening Weekend

Chandigarh, May 16 - The Punjabi film industry is shining bright like never before with back-to-back blockbusters over the past few months. After testing the recent success with Honsla Rakh, Qismat 2, and Chal Mera Putt 2, the latest romantic-comedy film, Saunkan Saunkne, has set an all-time record for a Punjabi movie on the opening weekend. ## Directed by Amarjit Singh Saron, who also directed the last year's blockbuster Honsla Rakh, Saunkan Saunkne scored 9.65 crores net in its opening weekend, which is the highest-ever for a Punjabi movie. The film beat the record of Shadaa (2019) which had collected 9.15 crore net in the first weekend.## Saunkan Saunkne, starring Ammy Virk, Sargun Mehta, and Nimrat Khaira, grew over the weekend after taking the opening of 2.25 crores net. The movie received excellent reviews which helped it to jump approx. 47% on Saturday for 3.30 crores net. On Sunday, the movie was at its peak and scored 4.10 crores which is probably the highest single-day box office collection for a Punjabi film. ## At the overseas box office, Saunkan Saunkne has scored Rs 6.90 crores gross in the first weekend, taking the total worldwide collection of the film to 18.10 crores gross. There was a time about 6-7 years ago when Punjabi movies used to earn blockbuster status with a lifetime collection of 4-5 crores, and now, tripling it in the opening weekend itself, is really heartening to see. ## The movie is produced by Sargun Mehta, Ravi Dubey, and Jatin Sethi, and distributed by Zee Studios. Mumbai, May 16 - Marvel/Disney's "Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of the Madness" has completed two weekends at the Indian box office and scored a fantastic Rs 153 crores (est.) gross.## The superhero movie, directed by Sam Raimi, remained one of the first choices for the moviegoers over the first two weekends. While it completely outshined Hindi films, "Doctor Strange 2" competed with the likes of "Sarkaru Vaari Paata", and "Don" in the South belt and still managed to score some footfalls. ## The movie, starring Benedict Cumberbatch in the titular role, scored 104.69 crores net in the first week at the Indian box office and was the number 1 movie for the week all over India. During its second weekend, the sequel to 2016's movie managed to score about 15.50 crores net, pushing the total net collection to about 120 crores for all languages. It is currently the 6th highest-grossing non-domestic film in India and is likely to add a few more crores to finish around 135 crores net or 170 crores gross. ## Meanwhile, "Doctor Strange 2" is nearing $700 million at the worldwide box office. In the first two weekends, the movie has generated $688 million worldwide, including $292 million domestically (North America), and about $396 million at the overseas box office. Bengaluru, May 14 - Executive producer at Hombale Films, Karthik Gowda has clarified that the studio will not be starting working on KGF Chapter 3 anytime soon. The statement from Gowda comes a few hours after the reports of Hombale Films head, Vijay Kiragandur confirming the development of the third installment of the film. ## Earlier in the day, it was reported that Vijay Kiragandur had confirmed that the shooting of KGF 3 will kick-start from October this year after completing the Salaar shoot. Mumbai, May 14 - The Indian entertainment sector is witnessing a major change and no one was prepared for that. The largest and arguably the most influential Indian film industry, Bollywood is going through the worst phase of its history which is truly shocking to the fraternity. ## Bollywood, which has always been considered the heart of Indian cinema, has produced many blockbusters and path-breaking films over the years. However, ever since the covid-19 pandemic has broken out, Bollywood has been really struggling to find audiences in theaters. Apart from a few movies like Sooryavanshi, Gangubai Kathiawadi, and The Kashmir Files, almost all other Bollywood films have struggled at the box office over the last year. ## While the covid-19 pandemic has actually challenged and changed the entertainment consuming pattern of the audiences, this is, by no means, the sole reason behind Bollywood's downfall. Apart from the aforementioned box office hits, most of the other Bollywood films weren't appealing to the audiences that are now looking for a larger-than-life cinema. ## However, the struggle of Bollywood does not mean that other Indian regional film industries are going through the same. There was a time when regional films were finding it difficult to get success, but the time has changed since SS Rajamouli's Baahubali 2, and now, the movies of South, Marathi, and Gujrati are proving a boon to the Indian exhibition sector. ## Since January 2021, the South Indian movies have been running the whole show. While films from Telugu, Tamil, and Kannada, have broken the barrier of languages and found immense success in Hindi, there were films that couldn't make it to the Pan Indian audiences but still did wonders at the box office. Among those, Uppena, Jathi Ratnalu, Doctor, Love Story, Akhanda, Kurup, and others proved standout performers and brought the audiences back to theaters in large numbers. ## It's not only that South Indian movies are working well at the ticket window, the Marathi, Punjabi, Gujrati, and Bengali movies also seem to be at their peak post-pandemic. Over the last few months, Marathi films like Pawankhind, Sher Shivraj, Lochya Zaala Re, and the latest in theaters Dharmaveer, have really done well at the box office. The same can be said for Punjabi films like Honsla Rakh, Puada, Qismat 2, and Chal Mera Putt 3, among others, have struck gold. ## The downfall of Bollywood is a worrying sign for the Indian exhibition sector and there is an urgent need to relook at it. On the brighter side, Bollywood has been investing in some of the larger-than-life films, which used to be the biggest USP of Bollywood in the late 90s.
