Chennai, October 1 - Filmmaker Mani Ratnam's Ponniyin Selvan - Part 1 scores another big day at the domestic box office, after taking the biggest opening for a Tamil title in 2022. It grossed a bombastic Rs. 83.60 crores worldwide, including Rs. 42.80 crores, and continues its dominance on the second day. ## The movie witnesses a slight drop of approx. 10% (expected) for an estimated Rs. 38-40 crores gross on its first Saturday (second day). In Tamil Nadu, the movie grossed an estimated Rs. 23 crores, dropping approx. 14% from the opening day. The total domestic gross after two days stands at approx. 81 crores.## The epic period action drama film, based on Kalki Krishnamurthy's 1955 novel of the same name, is Mani Ratnam's first 100 crores worldwide grosser. "PS-1" is the biggest Tamil to date with an estimated budget of 500 crores for both parts (PS-2 will release 6-9 months after the first part). ## Meanwhile, the Kannada movie Kantara, starring Rishab Shetty, witnesses a big jump on the second day. It is one of the highest-rated Kannada movies of all time and super positive word of mouth is coming into the play big time. ## Written and directed by Rishab Shetty and produced by Hombale Films, "Kantra" grossed 4.60 crores on the first day at the domestic box office. With a jump of approx. 65%, the movie minted an estimated 7.70 crores on the first Saturday. While the movie was shot in Telugu, it was actor Sharad Kelkar who gave his voice to Prabhas' Baahubali, and this played a massive role in the film's huge success. ## After "Baahubali" Prabhas dubbed his own Hindi voice in his next two films' "Saaho" and "Radhe Shyam" and this didn't go well with the Hindi audience. "Saaho" still became a hit at the Hindi box office but "Radhe Shayam" completely washed out in Hindi. And now, the makers of his next "Adipurush" are trying to apply the Baahubali formula with Prabhas. ## According to Pinkvilla, Sharad Kelkar has returned to give his voice for Prabahs' character in "Adipurush", which is scheduled to release on January 12, 2023. Prabhas plays the role of Lord Rama in the movie which will showcase Ram's warrior side. "Sharad Kelkar has dubbed for the Hindi version of Adipurush. He will be the voice of Prabhas in the film, and ones who have heard the dub are already going berserk over the quality of dubbing", says the report. ## The teaser of "Adipurush" will be launched on October 2 in Ayodhya and it is believed to be spectacular. The teaser will be launched at 7:11 PM while it will be digitally released via T-Series' YouTube channel. Chennai, October 1 - The cinematic adaptation of Kalki Krishnamurthy's 1955 novel Ponniyin Selvan has brought up the charm to the box office. ## Directed by maverick Mani Ratnam, Ponniyin Selvan - Part 1 records the biggest opening for a Tamil movie at the worldwide box office. The movie grossed ₹ 42.8 crores at the domestic box office, including ₹ 26.95 crores in Tamil Nadu alone for all languages. It is the third biggest in TN in 2022 after "Beast" and "Valimai". ## "PS-1" has equally been strong at the overseas box office on the first day. The overseas collection of the film came way above the projection with approx. ₹ 40.80 crores gross. The total opening day worldwide gross collection of the film is ₹ 83.60 crores, which is the highest for a Tamil film in 2022. The movie started on a fantastic note in the morning and it kept improving as the day progressed despite the mixed to positive reviews from critics.## "PS-1" was expected to take a big opening and it has managed to live up to those expectations as early estimates suggest 45-48 crores gross on an opening day for all languages. The movie witnessed a significant jump in advance sales in the last 48 hours to breach the $1 million mark. Los Angeles, September 30 - Marvel Studios has made a big change in its upcoming Armor Wars project, starring Don Cheadle.## According to The Hollywood Reporter, Marvel Studios' upcoming "Armor Wars", which was supposed to be a 6-episode series on Disney+, is now being developed as a feature film for theatrical release. ## It is said that Marvel was committed to getting the story told the right way and in that process realized that a feature was better suited for the project. Don Cheadle, who is reprising his longtime Marvel Cinematic Universe role as Colonel James "Rhodey" Rhodes, AKA War Machine, remains on board to star.## The plans to make "Armor Wars" was first announced in December 2020 by Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige. The logo of the project was revealed during the D23 Expo last month. At that time, it was going to be a Disney Plus series, but now, the plans have been changed to make it an MCU theatrical release. The title may also get changed.## This is not the first time Marvel has changed the development of a title in this way. 'Brahmastra Part One: Shiva' Becomes The Third Highest-Grossing Indian Movie of 2022

Mumbai, September 30 - Director Ayan Mukerji's Brahmastra Part One: Shiva has become the third highest-grossing Indian film during the entire covid-19 pandemic.## The fantasy action adventure film has grossed over Rs. 416 crores at the worldwide box office, crossing Kamal Haasan's mega-blockbuster Vikram's Rs. 414.43 crores gross. "Brahmastra" is already the highest-grossing Bollywood movie since Hrithik Roshan and Tiger Shroff's "War" (2019). ## In 2022, four Indian films crossed the Rs. 400 crores mark at the box office worldwide. Yash-starrer KGF: Chapter 2 is the biggest Indian grosser with Rs. 1,207 crores, followed by SS Rajamouli's trendsetting RRR, which has so far grossed approx. Rs. 1,112 crores. "RRR" will be released in Japan next on October 21st. ## "Brahmastra", meanwhile has grossed Rs. 307 crores at the domestic box office in flat 3 weeks while overseas collection stands at approx. Rs. 109 crores.
