Akshay Kumar has reportedly been attached to headline the sequels to these blockbusters and it seems, "Welcome 3" will be the first among them to go on floors. ## Over the last few months, "Welcome 3" has been in the news regarding its casting. While Akshay Kumar and Paresh Rawal were already confirmed, it was recently reported that Sanjay Dutt and Arshad Warsi will also be making their debut in the "Welcome" franchise before Arshad confirmed the same. It has been reported that the duo will be replacing Nana Patekar and Anil Kapoor as Uday Shetty and Majnu, respectively. ## Now, according to Pinkvilla, the makers have also roped in Bobby Deol to play an important role. It is said that the script of "Welcome 3" has turned out to be really hilarious and the makers are on the verge of getting a big ensemble cast on board for this film. Mumbai, August 2 - The Independence Day 2023 week is expected to be a big money spinner at the Indian box office with multiple tentpole movies lined up for release across different languages. There is Rajinikanth's much-awaited Tamil blockbuster "Jailer" as well as Chiranjeevi's Telugu movie "Bhola Shankar", and two of the highly-awaited Bollywood biggies, Akshay Kumar's "OMG 2" and Sunny Deol-fronted "Gadar 2". ## "Gadar 2: The Katha Continues", which is the sequel to the all-time blockbuster "Gadar: Ek Prem Katha" (2001) has been one of the most anticipated Bollywood movies ever since it was announced. As the release date is getting nearer, the anticipation for the movie is going up with each passing day, especially, after the teaser and trailer launch.## Directed by Anil Sharma, "Gadar 2" is expected to release on over 3500 screens nationwide and advances were opened nearly two weeks before the release. It is one of the very few movies post the covid-19 pandemic to open advances so early and it seems the decision to open early bookings is bearing fruit for the film. It has sold approx. 720K tickets worth approx. 17.60 crores gross collection as of 5 AM on August 11. In three national chains, the movie has sold approx. 285K tickets with PVR leading with 120K tickets for the opening day, which is excellent. ## Going by the pre-booking trend, "Gadar 2" looks like a big opener at the box office and is set to emerge as the second-biggest opening day grosser for an outright Bollywood movie of 2023. It is a complete mass entertainer with a patriotic theme that has a tendency to explode in advances in the last couple of days. With one day to go, the trend indicates an opening of around 35 crores net and might go towards 40 crores which remains to see. These are high-end projections that might change if word-of-mouth is not favorable. However, the movie is the sequel to an all-time blockbuster, which has generational fans who are expected to turn in, so the opening of 35 crores looks like a safe bet.## "Gadar 2" is set 20 years after the events of the first movie. It is set against the backdrop of the "Crush India" campaign in 1971 when Tara Singh (Sunny Deol) travels back to Pakistan on a personal mission to save his son Charanjeet "Jeete" Singh (Utkarsh Sharma) who is imprisoned and tortured by the Pakistan soldiers under Major General Hamid Iqbal. ## The movie is produced by Anil Sharma Productions in association with Zee Studios. The film stars Sunny Deol, Ameesha Patel, and Utkarsh Sharma reprising their roles from the first film while it also features Simrat Kaur, Manish Wadhwa, Gaurav Chopra, and Luv Sinha in key roles. The jump is around 3-5% but the bigger picture is that the collections remain rock solid. ## The early estimates suggest the first Tuesday/fifth-day collection of RRKPK approx. 7.25-7.50 crores net which takes the total collection to over 60 crores net in 5 days. The full first week is now looking to finish over 72 crores net which is a good result for the movie.## The trend of the movie is strong as collections in Delhi and other likewise markets are solid. The total domestic gross collection of the movie stands at approx. 80 crores, including approx. 70 crores in the two Telugu states (Andhra Pradesh and Telangana). The AP-TG gross includes approx. 47 crores share collection while the movie need to score approx. 81 crores share to break even which is looking unlikely now.## The overseas collection of "Bro" is approx. 12 crores in 4 days, and allied to the domestic total, the worldwide gross of the movie stands at approx. 92 crores. It is heading towards finishing as the lowest-grossing film of Pawan Kalyan post the covid-19 pandemic though it has become the highest-grossing film for Sai Dharam Tej, beating his recent blockbuster "Virupaksha" which gross approx. 89 crores worldwide.## The last three films, including "Bro", of Pawan Kalyan were remakes and none of the films could reach break-even. Mumbai, July 31 - Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt-fronted "Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani" crosses 50 crores net mark after the solid first Monday. The movie had a very good opening weekend with 45.90 crores net, which is the 4th biggest first Friday-Sunday weekend for Bollywood this year.## RRKPK needed to stay strong on its first make-or-break Monday and it passes the test with flying colors. The early estimates suggest the collection is in the range of 7-7.50 crores net today, dropping around 60% from Sunday which is normal after a strong weekend collection. ## As compared to Friday, the drop in the collection of RRKPK today is in the range of 30-35% which is a fantastic hold, however, the overall collection is on the average side for a big-budget movie like this. The first Friday/opening day was itself decent with 11.10 crores net though the Saturday and Sunday jump didn't let it affect the overall weekend collection. ## The total collection of the film has reached over 53 crores net in 4 days, and RRKPK will need to remain consistent during the coming days for a good opening week. As of now, it looks like the movie will finish its first week with around 70-73 crores net which is a good result. Mumbai, July 31 - Blockbuster filmmaker Christopher Nolan's atom bomb movie "Oppenheimer" is having a blast at the Indian box office. The movie is nearing the 100 crores net mark while it has already crossed this milestone in gross collection. ## "Oppenheimer" has been shot entirely in IMAX cameras and not so surprisingly, it is proving to be an IMAX wonder around the globe. In India, the movie has been exceptional as far as the IMAX format is concerned. On its second Monday, it is running with over 60% occupancy in IMAX, and the same response is expected for the next couple of weeks. ## In IMAX, "Oppenheimer" has crossed a huge 20 crores gross mark in just 11 days in India, the fastest movie ever to reach this mark. In the first week, it grossed 13.10 crores in IMAX while in the second week, the movie scored 7.50 crores gross (4 days) for a total of 20.60 crores gross in 11 days. It will reach 25 crores mark by the end of the second week and this will be almost 1/4 of its total collection.## Meanwhile, Tom Cruise's "Mission Impossible 7" was also released in IMAX and it grossed just 8.15 crores in 9 days before all the IMAX screens were shifted for "Oppenheimer". "MI7", however, got terrific response in the regular format and has crossed 100 crores net mark already.## At present, there are just 24 IMAX theaters in India, and at least 5 more are expected to be added this year. IMAX has been planning to add more screens in the coming years which shows the growing interest of Indians to watch movies in this premium format for rich visual quality. ## Meanwhile, "Oppenheimer" has so far grossed approx. 113 crores (~95 crores net) in India in 11 days. Mumbai, July 31 - Karan Johar's directorial romantic family drama film "Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani" scored a huge opening weekend at the worldwide box office, thanks to the very good performance internationally.## The movie, starring Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt, took a decent opening at the domestic box office with 11.10 crores net, before showing big jumps on Saturday and Sunday for 16.05 crores and 18.75 crores net, respectively, making it a 45.90 crores net (~54.50 crores gross) opening weekend. ## The 45.90 crores net is the 4th biggest Friday-Sunday opening weekend for Bollywood in 2023, after "Pathaan", "Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan", and "Adipurush". Overseas, RRKPK grossed approx. 34 crores in the first weekend, helping the worldwide collection of the movie to reach approx. 88.50 crores which are superb. It will cross 100 crores mark by tomorrow.## RRKPK did well in North America with a gross collection of approx. $1.80 million (14.80 crores) in the first weekend. It could have scored more but lack of showcasing due to the juggernaut of "Barbie" and "Oppenheimer" affect RRKPK's biz in this market. In the UK, it scored approx. $460K (3.80 crores) opening weekend. It has scored a jump of around 15-20% today from its Saturday collection of 16.05 crores net. ## Rocky Aur Rani Ki Prem Kahani scored an estimated 18.50-19 crores net collection on its third day/first Sunday, pushing the opening weekend total to around 46 crores net. The movie scored a good jump over the weekend after taking a decent opening. ## The opening weekend collection of RRKPK is very much on the expected lines as it wasn't the frontloaded film. The movie will rely on long legs to emerge as a box-office success and for that, the first Monday hold will be crucial for it.
