Thalapathy Vijay's 'Leo' Creates All-Time Opening Day Record At The UK Box Office For A Tamil Movie

London, September 30 - Thalapathy Vijay's Leo, directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj is all set for a massive opening overseas, particularly at the UK box office. The movie is having excellent pre-sales in the entire overseas region whenever it has opened.
At the United Kingdom box office, "Leo" has become the biggest opener for a Tamil movie ever in the advance booking itself. The gangster drama has so far scored £250.5K or $305K (2.55 crore) advance gross collection for the opening day with 19 days still left for the release, according to LetsCinema.
"Leo" has broken the opening day record of Mani Ratnam's "Ponniyin Selvan Part - 1" which scored £250K actual opening day last year. "Ponniyin Selvan - 2" is the third biggest opener with £228.5K, followed by "Jailer" with £222.8K, and "Beast" with £203.2K on opening day.
The Thalapathy Vijay-starrer tentpole has sold 22K+ tickets for the opening day and overall ticket sales have crossed the 30K mark in advance. It is expected to become the biggest Indian opener of all time in the UK, beating Shah Rukh Khan's "Pathaan".
Produced by S. S. Lalit Kumar of Seven Screen Studio, "Leo" is the third film in the Lokesh Cinematic Universe (LCU) after "Kathi" and "Vikram". It stars Thalapathy Vijay in the title role and Trisha Krishnan as the female lead, alongside Sanjay Dutt, Arjun Sarja, Gautham Vasudev Menon, Mansoor Ali Khan and Mysskin.
The movie is scheduled to release on October 19 in Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, Malayalam, and Kannada, languages in the regular as well as the IMAX format.
