California, March 11 - The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced the 96th Academy Awards winners on Sunday, March 10, 2024, at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, California with returning host Jimmy Kimmel. ## Christopher Nolan's R-rated mega-blockbuster Oppenehimer, which was nominated in 13 categories, went on to win 7 awards, the highest among all other films. Oppenheimer was the second highest-grossing film of 2023 at the worldwide box office. ## Nolan scored his maiden Best Director Oscar for Oppenheimer which also won Best Film award as well as Cillian Murphy for Best Actor and Robert Downey Jr. for Best Supporting Actor. Mumbai, March 10 - Ajay Devgn-led supernatural thriller Shaitaan ends the opening weekend collection with close to 54 crores net which is a very good total and the second biggest for a Bollywood film of 2024 after Hrithik Roshan-fronted Fighter. ## Shaitaan sees a jump of around 5-10% on its first Sunday with an estimated 20-21 crores net collection. This takes the three-day total to around 54 crores. The movie is performing well in multiplexes as well as single screens which is a good sign. ## As said, the audience's word of mouth is positive for the film and it may come into play on the crucial Monday hold. The first Monday collection of Shaitaan would be very good if it gets in the range of 9-10 crores which could affirm the film's longevity at the box office. ## Meanwhile, Yami Gautam-fronted Article 370 does very well in its third weekend with around 7.75 crores net. Kochi, March 10 - Real life-based survival thriller Manjummel Boys is re-writing box office history and today (18th day), it will become only the third Malayalam film to top 100 crores gross collection at the domestic box office. ## The engaging survival story turned into a cinematic adventure is putting up an insane show in India as well as the international box office. The movie grossed over 92 crores domestically through the 3rd Saturday (17 days) and at the end of its 3rd Sunday, it went past the 100 crores gross mark. ## Before Manjummel Boys, the Tovino Thomas-fronted 2018 and Mohanlal-starrer Pulimurugan were other two Malayalam films to top the 100 crores gross at the domestic box office. 2018 is currently the biggest grosser with approximately 110.50 crores, followed by Pulimurugan which minted around 100 crores.## Apart from the 100 crores India gross, Manjummel Boys has also topped 50 crores gross in the home state, Kerala on its 18th day and becomes only the 6th Malayalam film and 10th overall to reach the milestone. Mumbai, March 9 - After a very good start at the box office with close to 15 crores net, Ajay Devgn-fronted supernatural thriller Shaitaan jumps by over 20% on Saturday which is again a very good result for a thriller genre, backed by positive word of mouth. ## On its second day/first Saturday, Shaitaan scored an estimated 18-19 crores net collection, pushing the total to around 33 crores net in two days. The first weekend is heading to be around 55 crores which is a fantastic collection. ## The jump of over 20% today is quite impressive as it came after a partial holiday on the film's first day due to Maha Shivratri which boasted the collection. The thriller genre is something which lacks ground in mass centres but here, the Ajay Devgn factor is working wonderfully and the movie is also doing well outside multiplexes. ## The longevity of Shaitaan lies on its Monday hold but early signs are promising and in all probability, the movie is up for a very good ride at the box office. The 100 crores net club will be the minimum target for the movie. ## Meanwhile, Yami Gautam-fronted political thriller Article 370 sees a big jump of over 60% on its 3rd Saturday for an estimated 2.50-2.75 crores net. Los Angeles, March 9 - Mega blockbuster Manjummel Boys has created a massive record at the North American box office by becoming the first-ever Malayalam movie to gross $1 million there. The film is already a monster hit in India and the rest of the overseas territories. ## Manjummel Boys crossed the $1 million mark in North America during its third weekend and scripted its name in the history book. The movie is still going strong over there and is expected to finish strongly.## Directed by Chidambaram, the film grossed over 130 crores worldwide through 3rd Friday (16 days). The film is running riot on its third Saturday as well, and it will comfortably score 10+ crores gross WW. With today's collection (17th day), Manjummel Boys has become the second highest-grossing Malayalam film of all time. ## The survival thriller has crossed superstar Mohanlal's Pulimurugan which grossed approximately 139.50 crores worldwide to become the second biggest Malayalam grosser on its 17th day, behind only another survival thriller 2018. Mumbai, March 8 - Ajay Devgn-fronted supernatural thriller Shaitaan is off to a very good start at the box office. The Vikas Bahl's directorial, riding high on critics' reviews, surprises by exceeding trade expectations. ## According to early estimates, Shaitaan scored around 14-15 crores net collection which is a very good start for a thriller genre. The movie showed signs of a good start through pre-sales but strong walk-ins throughout the day, especially in evening and night shows, pushed the collection to a very good level. ## The traditional Friday release of the film benefitted from the Maha Shivratri holiday in some parts of the country. The very good opening has set the stage for the film for a fantastic weekend which could be around 55-60 crores net. Mumbai, March 7 - Yami Gautam-fronted political thriller Article 370 has had a very good second week at the domestic box office, holding 60% of the first week total. The movie put up a consistent performance throughout the second week. ## After scoring 15.25 crores net in the second weekend, Article 370 remained over the 1.50 crores mark during the weekdays and added another estimated 6.75 crores net from Monday to Thursday for around 22 crores net in the second week. This takes the total collection to around 57.50 crores in two weeks. ## Article 370 has done well so far as it has its limitations as far as the audience is concerned. Maharashtra has been the top contributor, followed by Delhi, and Gujarat as these three states accounted for over 50% of the total collection so far. ## Going forward, the film will have competition in the form of Shaitaan starring Ajay Devgn. Ajay Devgn's 'Shaitaan' Advance Booking Status And Opening Day Box Office Expectations

Mumbai, March 7 - After the good first two months of 2024, the Hindi film industry has now pinned its hope on Ajay Devgn-fronted supernatural horror thriller Shaitaan to continue the momentum at the box office. Directed by Vikas Bahl, the film also stars Jyothika, R. Madhavan, and Janki Bodiwala in key roles and is scheduled to release on March 8.## Shaitaan has been able to generate a decent buzz, thanks to the genre and well-received trailer. The booking for the film was opened a couple of days back and though it is not over the roof it is still decent considering the horror genre which has a limited audience. ## As of 3 PM on March 7, the pre-sales gross collection of Shaitaan for the opening day is around 2.50 crores with close to 110K tickets sold. The final pre-sales of the movie are expected to finish around 3.50 crores for the opening day which will be a decent response. ## The pre-sales of Shaitaan are more or less similar to Sam Bahadur and Dream Girl 2 though the genre of both these films was different. Given the booking trend, the Ajay Devgn-starrer opening could be somewhere around Dream Girl 2 which scored 10.69 crores net. The walk-ins, given the positive word of mouth, are expected to be better than the aforementioned two films, plus the Ajay Devgn factor also boasts the chances.## There is a holiday on March 8 on account of Maha Shivratri which will further strengthen the film's opening day box office prospects so the start in the range of 10-13 crores is very much on the card. The good thing for Shaitaan is that there is no big competition this week apart from holdovers. Mumbai, March 6 - Bollywood superstar Salman Khan and director Sooraj Barjatya were supposed to reunite for a family drama film Prem Ki Shaadi, however, it was recently reported that the actor has backed out from the project over creative issues. ## Later, it was reported that the filmmaker would be tweaking the script and would make it with younger actors. Now, according to Peepingmoon.com, talented actor Shahid Kapoor, who just scored a box office hit in the form of Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya, has been approached to headline the film. ## Shahid and Sooraj Barjatya have previously worked on the romantic drama Vivah which was a box-office hit and later earned a cult status with immense popularity in every household on television. It is said that when Salman backed out from Prem Ki Shaadi, the filmmaker immediately approached Shahid and things have been processing in the right direction. ## The duo has met multiple times and Barjatya is hopeful of getting Shahid on board the film which is an ambitious family drama and will be mounted on a grand scale. Interestingly, Shahid's character name in Vivah was also Prem who is quite popular in Barjatya's films. ## If all goes well, Prem Ki Shaadi will go on floors by the end of this year or early next year. Shahid, meanwhile, has a few big films in the pipeline. The actor currently shooting for the thriller film Deva, and has a historical film based on Ashwatthama from Mahabharta with Pooja Entertainment. Mumbai, March 6 - Bhushan Kumar-headed T-Series and director Anurag Basu enthusiastically announced the third instalment of the popular romantic franchise Aashiqui with Kartik Aaryan in the lead role in 2022. ## Since the film's announcement, there have been many rumours regarding the film's casting and production, and finally, T-Series has issued a statement putting all rumours to rest. However, in a major disappointment to the fans of the franchise, the company has put the film on hold indefinitely. ## "T-Series wishes to clarify that we are not presently involved in the development or production of Aashiqui 3. If and when Aashiqui 3 is initiated, T-Series and Vishesh Films / Mukesh Bhatt being joint owners in the franchise shall produce it jointly only. We categorically deny any ongoing rumours suggesting that Aashiqui 3 is being produced under a different title by T- Series", read the statement.## The studio also stated that they are currently working on another film with director Anurag Basu. "Our proposed film to be directed by Anurag Basu is neither Aashiqui 3 nor part of the Aashiqui franchise. We sincerely appreciate the ongoing support and enthusiasm of our fans. Our commitment lies in consistently delivering top-notch content, and we eagerly anticipate future ventures with our esteemed partners". ## It was recently revealed that Triptii Dimri was roped in to play the female lead while Pritam was to score the music. Mumbai, March 6 - Though it is not a hidden secret anymore, Yash Raj Films has officially confirmed that there will be a female-led film in the studio's ambitious Spy Universe film and it will be headlined by superstar Alia Bhatt. ## Over the last few months, there have been confirmed reports stating about Alia's Spy Universe debut to lead a solo female movie, and now, YRF CEO, Akshaye Widhani has confirmed the same. confirmed this huge development at FICCI Frames on March 5 (via India Today). ## Calling Spy Universe as YRF's biggest IP, Widhani said, "I'll share the worst-kept secret in the industry, which is, Alia Bhatt is headlining a Spy Universe film and that the schedule starts later this year. But you know, talking about this spy universe, we are just so thrilled and excited about having this IP in the studio". ## As reported, Alia Bhatt will be joined by actress Sharvari Wagh in the supporting role. Ajay Devgn's 'Shaitaan' Censor Certificate and Official Runtime Revealed

Mumbai, March 5 - Bollywood star Ajay Devgn set to thrill the audiences with his upcoming supernatural thriller film Shaitaan, co-starring R. Madhavan, Jyothika, and Janki Bodiwala. The Vikas Bahl's directorial movie is gearing up to release on March 8 on the occasion of Mahashivrati. ## Shaitaan is said to be the remake of the Gujarati film Vash, however, unlike the original version, the upcoming film has been granted a U/A certificate by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). The original movie got an 'A' (adult only) certificate from the censor board. ## According to reports, Shaitaan received 4 modifications from the Examining Committee (EC) of the CBFC while Vash was censored only after 8 major cuts. While the original film was 1 hour and 57 minutes long, Shaitaan reportedly has 2 hours and 12 minutes theatrical runtime. ## With the change in certification, it can be assumed that Shaitaan will be less gory than the original film. ## Shaitaan is produced by Devgn Films, Jio Studios, and Panorama Studios. It revolves around a happy family, who go on a vacation to a secluded village, where they encounter a mysterious man, who claims to be their well-wisher. However, he has a sinister motive and uses black magic to manipulate and torment them.
