Mumbai, June 30 - Superstar Akshay Kumar's comedy-thriller Housefull 5 is losing momentum at the domestic box office amid growing competition, as the film collected approximately 1.50 crore net collection in its fourth weekend.## Directed by Tarun Mansukhani, the fifth instalment in the popular franchise has amassed around 182 crore net (217 crore gross) in India over 24 days. Despite the slowdown, the film remains the second-highest-grossing Bollywood release of 2025, trailing only Vicky Kaushal's "Chhaava". ## Globally, Housefull 5 has earned an estimated 287 crore gross, including about ₹70 crore from overseas markets. With this, it is on course to finish just below "Sooryavanshi" (₹293 crore gross) as Akshay Kumar's second-biggest worldwide hit post-COVID. ## Within the franchise, Housefull 5 stands as the second-highest grosser, behind Housefull 4 (296 crore worldwide, 2019). In Akshay Kumar's overall filmography, it is projected to be his sixth biggest grosser, following, "2.0" (744 crore), "Toilet: Ek Prem Katha" (316.50 crore), "Good Newwz" (316 crore), "Housefull 4" (296 crore), and "Sooryavanshi" (293 crore). ## Despite being mounted on an estimated budget of 250 crore, Housefull 5 has managed to turn in a decent performance, although the expectations were much higher given the massive scale, ensemble cast, and brand value. James Cameron Hits Out At Christopher Nolan's Oscar-Winning Film 'Oppenheimer'; Here Is Why

Los Angeles, June 30 - Legendary Hollywood director James Cameron has hit out at acclaimed director Christopher Nolan for his 2023 epic biographical thriller Oppenheimer, which has been hailed as one of the best films of the 21st century. The movie is based on the life of J. Robert Oppenheimer, the American theoretical physicist who helped develop the first nuclear weapons during World War II. ## Oppenheimer was declared the best movie at the 96th Academy Awards, in which it won 7 Oscars, including Best Picture. Cameron, however, has criticised Nolan for not depicting the aftermath of the Hiroshima and Nagasaki nuclear bombing, which killed over 250,000 people. While Cameron acknowledged Nolan's filmmaking, he felt disappointed that Oppenheimer didn't depict the aftermath of the atomic bombing. ## During an interview with Deadline, the "Avatar" director said, "Yeah, it's interesting what he stayed away from. Look, I love the filmmaking, but I did feel that it was a bit of a moral cop-out. Because it's not like Oppenheimer didn't know the effects. He's got one brief scene in the film where we see — and I don't like to criticise another filmmaker's film – but there's only one brief moment where he sees some charred bodies in the audience, and then the film goes on to show how it deeply moved him. But I felt that it dodged the subject". ## Meanwhile, James Cameron himself is working on a film based on the Hiroshima bombing titled Ghosts of Hiroshima, which tells the story from those on the business end of the unimaginably destructive blasts that turned Japan into a hell-scape and killed hundreds of people and much more over time as the radiation ravaged the bodies of survivors. ## While Nolan's "Oppenheimer" grossed nearly $1 billion at the global box office, Cameron feels that "Ghosts of Hiroshima" could be his lowest-grossing film because of the subject matter, as he will be showing the aftermath of the atomic bombing. Cameron's film will be based on Charles Pellegrino's book Ghosts of Hiroshima, which comes out August 5 from Blackstone Publishing and The Story Factory. ## Interestingly, "Ghosts of Hiroshima" will be Cameron's first film other than the Avatar movies since "Titanic", which was released more than 2 and a half decades ago in 1997. This is the actor's first successful film since sports drama "Dangal" (2016) as a lead hero. ## Directed by RS Prasanna, Sitaare Zameen Par had a good second weekend at the domestic box office, scoring approximately 33.50 crores net (40 crores gross), pushing total domestic cume to around 122 crores net (147 crores gross). The drop from the opening weekend (58+ crores net) is around 40%, which can be called a superb hold. ## The movie is going from strength to strength as the movie jumped solidly over the second weekend, despite the competition with new movies. This suggests that the movie has found acceptance among the movie-going audience, which should lead it to a strong finish at the Indian box office. ## While SZP is doing very well domestically, it is also seeing good business at the overseas box office, with an estimated gross of around 50 crores in 10 days so far. The movie, directed by "Top Gun: Maverick" director Joseph Kosinski, raced to $144 million global opening weekend. ## Backed by Apple Original Films and Warner Bros. Pictures, F1 minted a fantastic $55.6 million domestically (North America), which is a much bigger opening than the studio's projection of around $35 million. It is one of the biggest openings of the year for an original title. ## Internationally, the blockbuster grossed a huge $88.4 million across 78 markets in the opening weekend, for a worldwide total of $144 million. This is the biggest theatrical debut for Apple Studios. The movie claimed the No. 1 position among U.S. films in 74 out of 78 international territories. ## Among the overseas markets, the United Kingdom was the biggest contributor with $9.2 million opening weekend, followed by China ($9 million) and Mexico ($6.7 million). F1 also exceeded expectations in India, grossing a solid around $3 million (25.50 crores gross) over a 3-day opening weekend. ## The audience reception for F1 is excellent, with a 97% rating on Rotten Tomatoes, while the critics' score is 84%. "It was happening earlier also, but it's just that we had to fine-tune ourselves (laughs). After all, all of them are creative, be it Priyadarshan, Akshay or Suniel. They are friends for many, many, many years", he added. ## The franchise features Akshay Kumar, Suneil Shetty, and Paresh Rawal in the leading roles. Now, the fans are eager for this iconic trio on the big screen soon. It is the 7th movie of Aamir Khan and his first in 7 years to enter the 100 crores net. The actor's last movie to hit the milestone was Thugs of Hindostan. ## Sitaare Zameen Par is overall 131st movie in Hindi to cross 100 crores net collection. It is among the most anticipated Tamil movies of the year; however, what followed next shocked the trade. ## Released on June 5, the film met with poor reception from critics and the audience. This resulted in a shocking box office performance of the film as it finished below 100 crores gross globally, turning into one of the biggest disasters of the year. ## Before the release of the film, the makers showed immense confidence in it and even publicly announced that it would be released on an OTT platform only after 8 weeks of theatrical release, breaking out from the usual norm of a 4-week window that exists in the Tamil Film Industry. ## The 8-week theatrical window announcement secured the movie's multiplex release in the Hindi version, becoming one of the first major Tamil movies to have a multiplex release in Hindi in recent times. However, the poor performance of the film led the makers to change their plans. ## According to the report by Pinkvilla, the makers have shortened the theatrical window of the movie to just 4 weeks to avoid further losses. The negotiations were made after Netflix, which is the official streaming partner of the movie, decided to reduce the OTT price of Thug Life. ## The movie was initially valued at 130 crore for OTT release, but the poor box office performance caused damage to this. It is said that Netflix was looking to renegotiate the price at 90 crore, but both parties eventually settled down at 110 crore for the digital rights, with a reduced OTT window of 4 weeks, as per Pinkvilla. ## Meanwhile, the reduced theatrical window has resulted in a breach of contract between the producers of Thug Life with the distributor and the national multiplex chains in North India. New Delhi, June 26 - Punjabi superstar Diljit Dosanjh's upcoming film Sardaar Ji 3 will not be releasing in India amid the growing controversy over the inclusion of Pakistani actress Hania Aamir in the film. The movie will now only be released outside the domestic market. ## Ever since the trailer of the film has been released, Sardaar Ji 3 is facing the heat as many people and film bodies objected to the casting of Hania Aamir, especially after the recent Phalagam terrorist attack in which Pakistani terrorists were involved in the killing of 26 tourists. ## Many people expressed their anger after the trailer was launched and asked the government to ban the film. Understanding the seriousness of the issue, the makers of Sardaar Ji 3 released a statement, confirming that the film won't be released in India. ## In the statement, the makers stated that " The film was shot well before the prevailing situation that our country is facing now, and it was never ever the case that any Pakistani artist was signed or was engaged after the terrorist attack in Pahalgam". ## Diljit Dosanjh, meanwhile, has backed the decision of makers to not release the movie in India in respect to the sentiments of the people. He also said that a lot of money has been invested in the film; hence, he is with the makers in whatever decision they have made, even though they will lose money for not releasing the film in the home market. ## Sardaar Ji 3 is a horror action comedy, directed by Amar Hundal and produced by Gunbir Singh Sidhu, Manmord Sidhu, and Diljit Dosanjh under White Hill Studios and Story Time Productions.
