This makes it the biggest third-week collection ever in Hindi, beating the 7-year-old record of Baahubali 2: The Conclusion. ## The horror-comedy blockbuster, directed by Amar Kaushik, had a sensational third weekend followed by an excellent hold during the weekdays to finish the third week at 70.20 crores net. On its 4th Thursday, it scored approximately 5.35 crores, which takes its total collection past 500 crores net, making it the 6th film ever to do so. ## Becoming the biggest third-week net grosser is a remarkable achievement for Stree 2 to beat a long-standing record of SS Rajamouli's directorial BB2 which still remains the biggest third-week grosser in terms of gross collection. It is said that "the actor's vision is to revive the social comedy genre by keeping it exclusive for the big screen for at least 12 weeks". ## One of the alarming chatters ongoing within the Bollywood film industry is that OTT platforms are dictating terms and forcing filmmakers to release their movies on pre-decided XYZ dates even if it is not suitable for the film's business. The digital platforms are also deciding the film's prices by keeping the box-office clause in the contract.## "Aamir is willing to sell and value his film based on the audience reception to the content on theatrical release. With no logo of digital players on posters and trailers, Aamir aims to keep his communication clear – experience his content only on the big screen. His idea is to go back to the good old days when viewers didn’t have any idea about the satellite premieres", the report adds.## Meanwhile, Aamir Khan has several films in the pipeline under his production house, Aamir Khan Productions. Mumbai, September 5 - Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao-fronted mega-blockbuster horror-comedy Stree 2 has entered the 500 crores net club, becoming the first film of 2024 and 6th of all time to achieve the feat in the Hindi language.## Directed by Amar Kaushik, Stree 2 entered the 500 crores net club on its 22nd day, becoming the second fastest after Shah Rukh Khan-fronted Jawan (18 days) to do so in Hindi. Sunny Deol's Gadar 2 is the third fastest in the list with 24 days. ## The sequel to 2018's film scored approximately 498 crores net in 21 days and is expected to be 503+ crores net at the end of its 22nd day (4th Thursday). It is the first 500 crores net grosser for Shraddha Kapoor as well as Rajkummar Rao, director Amar Kaushik and Maddock Films. ## Produced by Maddock Films and Jio Studios, Stree 2 is the overall 9th movie ever to enter the 500 crores net club at the Indian box office in all languages and is the 5th Bollywood movie to do so. August 2024 Indian Box Office Report

Mumbai, September 5 - August 2024 show some of the most-awaited films getting released but none could leave a mark at the Indian box office, except for mega-blockbuster success of Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao-fronted horror-comedy Stree 2, along with Tamil movies Demonte Colony 2, and Raayan, and Telugu title Saripodhaa Sanivaaram.## Despite the mixed bag of successes, August proved to be the biggest-grossing month of the year (so far) at the Indian box office, thanks to the monstrous contribution from Stree 2. The IBO delivered approximately 1100 crores gross collection in August, with almost 50% contribution from Stree 2.## Amar Kaushik's directorial was easily the highest-grossing film in India in Independence Day month, with an approximate gross collection of 540 crores, almost 13X of the second biggest grosser of the month, Vikram-starrer Tamil movie Thangalaan which grossed approximately 42 crores.## There were 3 major Bollywood releases in August, and other than Stree 2, Akshay Kumar-fronted comedy drama Khel Khel Mein and John Abraham's action thriller Vedaa proved to be failures with approximately 33 crores gross, and 25 crores gross, respectively. ## Among the Telugu titles, Double iSmart and Mr. Bachchan ended up as huge disasters while the only saving grace for the industry came towards the end of the month in the form of Nani-starrer Saripodhaa Sanivaaram which was the highest-grossing Telugu movie in August with 26 crores gross (3 days only).## For Tamil, other than Thangalaan which underperformed, it was Dhanush-starrer Raayan which released in July with a blockbuster collection and continued the momentum in August to add another 36 crores gross collection to its total and was the biggest Tamil grosser of the month. Horror thriller Demonte Colony 2 also proved to be a success with approximately 35 crores gross in Tamil. ## The total domestic collection in August was the highest of the year, beating January which delivered approximately 1025 crores in gross collection in India. The actor is presently working on director Sujoy Ghosh's action thriller The King which is in the pre-production stage. Mumbai, September 2 - The re-release factor has been working well at the box office for the classic Bollywood hits for the last few months. After Rockstar and Laila Majnu, it's now turn for R. Madhavan, Dia Mirza, and Saif Ali Khan-led love story Rehnaa Hai Terre Dil Mein which is turning out to be a success story at the box office. ## Directed by Gautham Menon, RHTDM was re-released on August 30 and did well at the box office, grossing approximately 1.20 crore (1 crore net) in its opening weekend. It scored approximately 20 lakh gross on its first day (Friday), before jumping by over 100% for approx. 45 lakh on Saturday and another 60 lakh gross on Sunday.## It now needs to see how the fair during the weekdays, which will determine how far it will go at the box office. The last couple of Bollywood re-releases did well beyond opening weekends and since RHTDM has been a popular film over the years on television, there is a chance it will repeat the success of those movies to reach a respectable total. ## RHTDM, which is a remake of the popular Tamil film Minnell, was originally released in 2001 and did decently at the box office with a worldwide gross collection of over 10 crores. Mumbai, September 1 - Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao-fronted mega-blockbuster Stree 2 has become the highest-grossing Bollywood film of 2024 at the overseas box office, after beating Hrithik Roshan and Deepika Padukone's Fighter. ## The horror-comedy, directed by Amar Kaushik, has grossed an estimated 110 crores internationally in 17 days so far, surpassing the lifetime overseas total of Fighter's 104 crores. These two are the only Bollywood films of the year to cross the 100-crore mark outside India. ## Among the Indian films of the year, Stree 2 is behind only Prabhas-fronted Kalki 2898 AD (275 crores approx.) at the overseas box office. Kalki is a multilingual release and it grossed over 50 crores in Hindi internationally. ## Produced by Maddock Films and Jio Studios, Stree 2 is nearing 700 crores mark at the worldwide box office. After the third Saturday (17th day), it grossed approximately 657 crores, including 547 crores (458 crores net) in India. Mumbai, August 31 - Critically acclaimed folk horror thriller Tumbbad is making its way back to the big screen this September. ## The film, directed by Rahi Anil Barve, is set to be re-released on September 13. It was supposed to get re-issued on August 30 but has been pushed back by 2 weeks. The makers announced the re-release date on Saturday with a new poster. ## The poster features the film's protagonist, Vinayak Rao (played by Sohum Shah), leading his young son Pandurang (played by Mohammad Samad) through the night with a lantern, with an atmosphere of supernatural elements of their journey. ## The film, written by Mitesh Shah, Prasad, Barve, and Gandhi, and produced by Sohum Shah, Aanand L. Rai, Mukesh Shah, and Amita Shah, tells the story of Rao's descent into greed as he hunts for a mythical treasure guarded by a malevolent entity named Hastar.## Tumbbad was originally released in October 2018 and it was hailed as the finest folk horror movie of Indian cinema. Mumbai, August 29 - Director Om Raut has finally opened up on Adipurush, starring Pan India superstar Prabhas. It was one of the most-hyped Indian movies in recent times but ended up as a major disappointment on every front.## The movie got trolled for the cringe characterization of the figures of the epic Ramayana and was largely a box office misfire despite the huge initial collections that were pulled through the factor of Ramayana and Prabhas' mega-stardom.## Made on a massive budget of 500 crores, Adipurush grossed around 400 crores at the worldwide box office and was termed a big flop, especially in the Telugu version. However, unlike the public opinion on the film's box office numbers, Om Raut seems to be happy with its performance. ## During a recent interview with a Marathi media, Om Raut called out the trollers and said that they don't need to bother too much about this faceless army on social media. He went on to say, "At the end of the day, what matters for the movie is the box office. And, Adipurush did very well at the box office".
