Aamir Khan Expressed Concern Over Direct-To-Digital Release Of Films

Mumbai, August 12, 2021: Bollywood's Mr. perfectionist, Aamir Khan has expressed concern over films releasing directly on digital platforms, ditching theaters. In the last and a half years, many Bollywood films including Laxmii, Sadak 2, Shershaah, Shakuntla Devi, among others have gone to direct OTT release. Ajay Devgn's Bhuj: The Pride of India is also ready for Disney Plus Hotstar release on August 13. ## While some more films are gearing up for OTT release, Akshay Kumar starrer Bell Bottom has sealed the theatrical release worldwide on August 19 and it brought joy among theater owners as it will kick off the unlocking of cinemas. Aamir Khan, however, admitted that theaters can only be open if the health situation in the country improves and that people get vaccinated.## At an event recently, Aamir Khan was quoted as saying, "Some films are releasing on OTT platforms, and as a film person, I am very concerned. I hope in the near future things will improve. It is not easy to talk about reopening cinema halls. Theatres can be opened up only when the health situation improves, and we control the Covid-19 situation as a society, we are all trying and working on it. As more and more people get vaccinated things will get better". ## Meanwhile, as cinemas are reopening gradually, more and more films are executed to announce the release date, and it has begun as Amitabh Bachchan and Emraan Hashmi starrer mystery thriller, Chehre, will be the second Hindi film after Bell Bottom to hit the big screen. It is scheduled to release on August 27. ## On the other hand, Aamir Khan's Laal Singh Chaddha is one of the films that has been pushed from the last year. Mumbai, August 11, 2021: Earlier in May this year, director R Balki announced his next film with Malayalam star Dulquer Salmaan. The yet-to-be-titled psychological thriller is written by R Balki and co-written by Rishi Virmani and Raja Sen. Now, the makers have brought a respectable cast on board to join Salmaan. ## As reported earlier, Sunny Deol has been confirmed to lead the cast along with Shreya Dhanwanthary, and Pooja Bhatt while Dulquer was already confirmed. The film marks R Balki's first collaboration with all four actors and the filmmaker is excited to shoot on the project after a long time. Balki last directed the 2018 National Award-winning drama Pad Man starring Akshay Kumar. ## "After months of waiting, for me, it is exciting to start shooting anything. And to make a film in a genre that I haven't attempted before is even more exciting. I have had the idea for a long time but never quite got around to writing it, and while it's fundamentally a thriller, it banks so much on these four stunning performers. I just can't wait to get into the edit room", Balki said in a statement.## Sunny Deol, who is widely known for doing action films, is returning to films after Blank (2019). Filmmakers Anurag Basu and Shoojit Sirkar were keen to bring iconic charactor to life on the big screen. Even versatile actor Ranbir Kapoor was reportadly finalized by Basu, however, things couldn't move forward due to various complications in the making. ## Now, things are falling in place and the biopic of Kishore Kumar is finally in the work. Amit Kumar, the son of the late singer, has taken the decision along with his family to produce and direct the biopic on the life and times of Kishore Kumar. Amit Kumar is himself a gifted and renowned singer and has acted in several films directed by and starring his father. ## "It was always my intention that we do the biopic. After all who knows him (Kishore Kumar) better than his family?. We're about to start shooting the interviews with our family about my father", says Amit Kumar adding that the movie will take time to roll out. ## "We know that the script will take at least a year to develop. Mumbai, August 11, 2021: Filmmaker Amar Kaushik's thriller project, Chor Nikal Ke Bhaaga, which was supposed to take off in 2017 with John Abraham and Rajkummar Rao and producers Prerna Arora and Arjun N Kapoor, has reportedly been revived with a new cast and team. ## According to Peepingmoon.com, Sunny Kaushal and Yami Gautam have been finalized to play the lead in this reanimated version of the film that has been written by Siraj Ahmed who recently wrote Srijit Mukherji's short film in Netflix anthology Ray starring Ali Fazal and Shweta Basu Prasad. ## Amar Kaushik, however, will reportadly not be directing Chor Nikal Ke Bhaaga anymore, instead, he will work as a creative producer on this film while the directorial duty has been given to Ajay Singh, better known as Ajax. Kaushik is collaborating with producer Dinesh Vijan of Maddock Films to back this thriller based on a diamond heist. ## Interestingly, both Yami Gautam and Sunny Kaushal are already working on revived projects after they were earlier shelved due to various reasons. Delhi, August 10, 2021: It was the day of the big screen premiere of Sidharth Malhotra and Kiara Advani starrer, Shershaah, ahead of its worldwide release on August 12 on Amazon Prime Video. The makers held a special screening for VIPs at Chanakya PVR theater in Delhi last night (August 9) for army captain and Param Veer Chakra Awardee, Vikram Batra's biopic. ## Directed by Vishnu Varadhan and produced by Karan Johar's Dharma Productions in association with Kaash Entertainment, the makers booked three screens in the plex - one for Captain Vikram Batra's family clan, the other for Army personnel, and the third for Sidharth Malhotra and his friends-n-relatives.## Since the movie is very much concerned with the Indian army, the reaction from army officials was largely positive and they loved the movie. Mumbai, August 10, 2021: Earlier in the day (August 10), Farhan Akhtar announced his next film that will mark her directorial return after Don 2 (2021). Led by an all-female cast including Priyanka Chopra, Alia Bhatt, and Katrina Kaif, the movie titled, Jee Le Zaraa, will be a road-trip film that will go on floors in mid next year and will hit cinemas in 2023. ## A few hours after the movie announcement, Priyanka Chopra took to Instagram and recalled that it was a movie that was planned last year in February before the covid-19 pandemic forced a strict nationwide lockdown. She shared a picture with Alia Bhatt and Katrina Kaif which was clicked in February 2020 when they first met to discuss a film with an all-female cast. ## Priyanka Chopra revealed that she wanted to do a very different Hindi film as soon as possible after The Sky Is Pink, and called up her 2 real friends, Katrina and Alia to discuss the same. They approached Farhan with the idea who was coincidentally planning a female road trip movie at the same time. ## "Let's rewind, to me musing about wanting to do another Hindi movie ASAP, on an unusually rainy night in Mumbai in Nov 2019", PC wrote on Insta. "But it had to be the right one - different, cool, never been done before… I thought. The idea grew into a movie helmed by an all-female cast. There are not enough Hindi movies that are female multi-starrers. This led to an impulsive phone call… to my 2 real friends about this idea that involved 3 on-screen girlfriends. Scam 1992 Fame Pratik Gandhi And Khushali Kumar Come Together For The First Time For A Family Drama Film

Mumbai, August 10, 2021: After winning accolades with the web series, Scam 1992, actor Pratik Gandhi is all to lead producers Bhushan Kumar, Shaailesh R Singh, and Hansal Mehta's next family drama film. The yet-to-be-titled film will also star Khushali Kumar, who won hearts with her music videos. ## Set in the small town of Uttar Pradesh, this family drama will be helmed by the director of Rajkummar Rao starrer series Bose: Dead or Alive, Pulkit. This is the first time when Gandhi and Khushali coming together in a film that will tell a story of a common man's struggle to fight for what's rightfully his. ## While the film marks the actors' first collaboration together, Bhushan Kumar & Shaailesh R Singh will come together again after working on Kangana Ranaut starrer Simran that was directed by Hansal Mehta and upcoming release Hurdang starring Sunny Kaushal, Nushrratt Bharuccha.## Talking about the film, Bhushan Kumar said, "The story of this film is simple yet very real. This is the film that millions of people of our country will resonate with. Mumbai, August 10, 2021: Actress Kareena Kapoor is all set to turn producer for the first time for director Hansal Mehta's next film. Kareena has signed the film which is a gritty thriller, inspired by a real-life incident. The yet-untitled film will be co-produced by Kareena and Ekta Kapoor's Balaji Telefilms. ## Having enjoyed an envy-inducing career over the past two decades, Kareena is ready to begin the next chapter of her life. Set in the UK, it's her first venture for the actress since the birth of her second son Jehangir. "I'm honored to work as a producer on this film with Ekta. I am a huge fan of Hansal's movies, and to work with him for the first time will be special. This film marks a lot of firsts", Kareena said. ## Hansal Mehta, who already has Faraaz and Kartik Aaryan-led Captain India in the pipeline, is intended to take Kareena's film on floors soon. With two powerhouses of talent (Kareena and Ekta), Mehta aims to create a gripping and moody thriller that will do justice to Kareena's talent as an actor.## On the other hand, Ekta had previously teamed up with Kareena on Veere Di Wedding (2018).
