Box Office: Sooryavanshi Emerges Akshay Kumar's Highest 3rd Week Grosser; Nears Rs. 300 Crores Worldwide

Mumbai, November 25 - Akshay Kumar-starrer "Sooryavanshi" make the best use of the first three weeks at the box office and emerged as Bollywood's first box office super hit during the covid-19 pandemic era. With not much competition, the Rohit Shetty-directed netted Rs. 184.78 crores or Rs. 218 crore gross after earning an estimated Rs. 1.05 crores on 3rd Thursday. ## "Sooryavanshi", with Rs. 18.55 crore net in the 3rd week, also becomes the highest 3rd-week earner for Akshay Kumar, overtaking "Rowdy Rathore", which had earned Rs. 14.16 crores. It has also earned more than "Sultan" (Rs. 15.84 cr.), "Golmaal Again" (Rs. 15.02 cr.), and "Kick" (Rs. 14.01 cr.) in the 3rd week. ## Released over Diwali weekend, "Sooryavanshi" has entered the list of the top 30 highest-earning Bollywood films of all time, and is likely to finish at 27th, ahead of "2.0" (Rs. 190.48 cr.) by the end of its entire box office run. Currently at the 5th spot, "Sooryavanshi" will cross "2.0" by the end of next week and will be Akshay's 4th best-earning film after "Housefull 4", "Good Newwz", and "Mission Mangal". ## For Rohit Shetty, "Sooryavanshi" is now the 4th top-grossing film after "Simmba", "Chennai Express", and "Golmaal Again" while for Katrina Kaif, who plays the female lead opposite Akshay in the film, "Sooryavanshi" has entered to top 5 highest-earning films. ## Overseas, "Sooryavanshi" has grossed an estimated Rs. 60 crores over three weeks, taking the film's total worldwide gross to Rs. 278 crores. Aamir Khan Apologies To KGF Makers For Clashing 'Laal Singh Chaddha' With The Much-Awaited KGF Sequel

Mumbai, November 25 - Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan recently postponed the release date of his long-awaited comedy-drama film, "Laal Singh Chaddha" to April 14, 2022. The actor took this decision to give enough time to post-production work as he doesn't want to rush his work. ## "Laal Singh Chaddha" is a big-budget film and the makers don't want to compromise on quality. The postponement of the film, however, has confirmed a big box office clash with Yash-starrer "KGF: Chapter 2", which opens on the same date. KGF 2 is a pan India film and carries an unpreceded hype in every language. ## Aamir Kha, however, explained why he chooses April 14 release date for his film and also expressed his regret for clashing with KGF 2. "There are two ways of doing the visual effects — you can do a rush job or you can go for quality work. I didn’t want a rush job, hence I preferred to postpone the film". (according to box office worldwide).## "Ideally, I would never take a date which has already been finalized by the producer of another big film. I hate to give the impression that I am trespassing on someone else's territory, but since I am playing a Sikh for the first time in my career, the Baisakhi day seemed to be the most appropriate for the release of Laal Singh Chaddha", he added.## The actor revealed that he wrote the KGF team and explained his situation and also apologized. Before I finalized the date, I profusely apologized to the producer (Vijay Kiragandur), director (Prashanth Neel), and lead man (Yash) of KGF2. I told them how the lockdown had made matters difficult for all producers. I also explained that a Baisakhi release for my film would be ideal. They understood my viewpoint and were good enough to ask me to go ahead in spite of their film releasing on the same day".## He further added, "I had a long heart-to-heart conversation with Yash who was very supportive of my plan. I also told him that since he was an action film whereas mine was a family film as it was a love story, the two films would hopefully not eat into each other's collections. I also volunteered to promote his film. I told Yash, I would be watching his film on 14th April in a cinema hall as I am a fan of the KGF franchise, like millions of others".## Directed by Advait Chandan, "Laal Singh Chaddha" is an adaptation of the 1994 American film Forrest Gump which itself is based on Winston Groom's 1986 novel of the same name. Mumbai, November 24 - The trailer of the much-awaited sports drama "Jersey", starring Shahid Kapoor and Mrunal Thakur, was launched on Tuesday (November 23) during an event. Directed by Gowtam Tinnanuri, "Jersey" is the official Hindi remake of a Nani-starrer Telugu movie of the same name. ## In the movie, Shahid Kapoor plays the role of a former cricket player who wants to get back to the game to inspire his son while Mrunal Thakur plays his wife. "Jersey" is one of the many films held back to release in theaters owning to the covid-19 pandemic. Before the covid-19 pandemic, the superstar was planning to launch his own theater chain in small towns, however, the pandemic put the plans on hold. ## However, as things started getting to normalcy and theaters across the country have reopened, Salman Khan revealed in a recent interview that his project Salman Talkies is still in the works. Salman confirmed that he indeed had plans to open up theatres and hopefully, it will be sometime soon, according to News18. ## "We were planning it but everything was put on hold. Slowly we will get back to it, but definitely someday. We had planned to open them up in smaller towns where people didn’t have access to theatres. Not here in cities like Mumbai", Salman told TOI. ## According to a 2018 report by Mumbai Mirror (via News18), Salman Talkies was going to be a chain of theatres where tickets would be tax-free and available at subsidized rates and free for children from underprivileged backgrounds. The actor had also met several producers, distributors, and exhibitors to execute his plan and understand the market for theatre in a better way. ## The report had mentioned that the chain was expected to flag off in Maharashtra and later expanded to other states over the next ten years. Mumbai, November 23 - Varun Dhawan and Kriti Sanon-starrer "Bhediya", which gearing up to release next year, is a step forward in Maddock Films' horror-comedy genre. The studio behind the successful horror-comedy films like "Stree" and "Roohi" is leaving no stone unturned to make "Bhediya" one of its a kind monster comedies with the international crew coming on board to design the action scenes and VFX. ## Directed by Amar Kaushik (Stree, Bala), "Bhediya" is currently scheduled to release on April 14, 2022. While the shooting has already been completed recently, the latest reports suggest that the release of this much-awaited has been postponed to the next year-end. ## It is said that the VFX work on "Bhediya", which is reportedly being done by Moving Picture Company (1917, The Jungle Book, The Lion King, Harry Potter), is taking longer than expected, which resulted in the postponement of the film by at least 6 months. ## "It's a new genre, and the team is looking to create a big-screen experience with not just the never seen before visuals, but also some unique sound effects meant for the cinema halls. The film will now be released in the last quarter of 2022 between the October to December window", a source told Pinkvilla. ## Varun Dhawan will have two releases next year. Shahid Kapoor Unveils The First Official Poster Of His Special Film 'Jersey'

Mumbai, November 22 - It has been a long wait for the makers of the Hindi remake of the Nani-starrer Telugu movie, "Jersey", to release the film in theaters. And the wait finally seems coming to an end as this much-awaited sports drama is gearing up for the release on December 31st worldwide. ## Directed by Gowtam Tinnanuri, who also helmed the original Telugu version, "Jersey" deals with late bloomers who want to aspire in sports, but face several complications. The storyline follows the lead character (Shahid), a talented but failed cricketer who decides to return to cricket in his mid-30s, driven by the desire to represent the Indian cricket team, and fulfill his son's wish for a jersey as a gift.## Shahid Kapoor, who stepped into the shoes of Nani in the Hindi remake, took to Twitter and shared the first official poster with trailer date announcement. "ITS TIME! We have waited to share this emotion with you for 2 years. This story is special. This team is special. This character is special. It is Shahid Kapoor's first release since the mega-blockbuster "Kabir Singh".
