Mumbai, March 23 - Yet another challenging role awaits for the talented actor, Randeep Hooda, who has been cast to play the title role in filmmaker Mahesh Manjrekar's "Swatantra Veer Savarkar". ## The 45-year old actor, who impressed one and all in the 2016's biographical drama film "Sarbjit", will now portray the freedom fighter V.D. Savarkar in the upcoming biopic, which was announced last year in May. The film will highlight India's freedom movement from a different spectrum and will be shot across various locations in London, Maharashtra, and Andaman & Nicobar Islands from June this year. ## "There are many heroes that have played their part in getting us our Independence. However, not everyone has got their due. Vinayak Damodar Savarkar is the most misunderstood, debated, and influential of these unsung heroes and his story must be told", Hooda said in a statement. ## The "Highway" actor will be reuniting with producer Sandip Ssingh for this film after their first collaboration on "Sarbjit". "I am delighted to collaborate with Sandeep after 'Sarabjit', for 'Swatantra Veer Savarkar'. Mumbai, March 21 - Vivek Ranjan Agnihotri's "The Kashmir Files" has hit the double century mark at the worldwide box office, becoming the first Indian film of 2022 to achieve the feet. ## Based on the exodus of the Kashmiri Pandits, TKF has achieved the box office milestone in just 10 days, which is an extraordinary feat for a low-budget film. The film had scored 97.30 crores net in the first week while the second-weekend collection lent on 70.15 crores (3rd biggest of all-time). ## The film was declared tax-free in some of the Indian states which helped the makers to earn more profit. Thanks to government support, the net collection of TKF reached 167.45 crores in just 10 days (194 cr. gross). Overseas, the film has so far grossed approx. 20 crores, pushing the global total to 214 crores. ## The Kashmir Files has become the highest-grossing film for Anupam Kher, and Mithun Chakraborty, who played prominent roles in the film, so is for the director Vivek Agnihotri. Mumbai, March 20 - Alia Bhatt-fronted "Gangubai Kathiawadi" has emerged as the first Bollywood hit of 2022. The biographical drama, directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali, was released on February 25 amid not so big hype but was able to take a good opening at the domestic box office. ## Gangubai Kathiwadi, which marks Alia Bhatt's first theatrical release since 2019's "Kalank", has become the actress's second-biggest domestic earning film of all time with a total net collection of approx. Rs. 126 crores. It is behind only "Gully Boy" (₹ 139.63 Cr), and this positive is unlikely to change. ## Made on a lavish budget, "Gangubai Kathiwadi" has had a very good first week with ₹ 68.93 crores net. It did very well to hold the ground strongly in the second week by dropping just 47% for ₹ 36.52 crores. During the 3rd week, the film faced stiff competition with "The Kashmir Files". Gangubai, however, did still manage to grab the audience's attention and earned ₹ 17.95 crores pushing the total domestic net to ₹ 123.29 crores after 3 weeks. ## Till the time GB finished its 3rd-week run, it crossed "Badrinath Ki Dulhania" (₹ 117.89 Cr) and reached number 3. Due to the release of "Bachchhan Paandey" on March 18, and the continuous juggernaut of "The Kashmir Files", the showcasing of "Gangubai Kathiwadi" was reduced to below 100 shows for the first time in Mumbai on the 4th weekend. ## While the showcasing of GB was reduced, it didn't down completely on the available shows. In the first two days of the 4th weekend, it earned approx. ₹ 1.60 crores while the 4th Sunday collection is heading towards ₹ 1.50 crores. The movie is running with Housefull shows in Mumbai, Gujrat, and NCR. ## Overseas, GB has grossed approx.
