'Akshay Kumar Can't Be Replaced': Anees Bazmee

Mumbai, May 21 - The sequel to Akshay Kumar and Vidya Balan's 2007's horror-comedy "Bhool Bhulaiyaa" has been released in theaters on May 20th. This time, for a change, Kartik Aaryan and Kiara Advani have stepped in to play the leads with Tabu stepping into the shoes of Vidya Balan as Anjulika & Manjulika.

While the star cast and the story are completely different, the Anees Bazmee-directed film has managed to entertain the audiences just like its preceder. There were always doubts whether this movie could justify the original movie, but post the release most fans can agree that the sequel is a package that turned out to be even better than expected.



Meanwhile, the fans of this classical horror-comedy were surprised when the movie was announced with Kartik Aaryan in the lead but not Akshay. In a recent chat with Indian Express, director Anees Bazmee was asked why he did not cast Akshay and Vidya for the sequel. To this, the filmmaker replied, "Akshay is too big for these small things".

"Akshay Kumar cannot be replaced, and he knows that he is not replaced in this film. Akshay has had a great body of work for over 25 years. Akshay is doing comedy, he is dancing, he is doing the action, he is doing everything, and he is getting offered the kind of films he wants. So, it is a very small thing for him to do or not do Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2", Bazmee said.

The director went on to add that if the story would have permitted, Akshay would have agreed to come on board. He shared that he and Akshay have a great relationship as well as a friendship. Meanwhile, Akshay also spoke about "Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2" and said he hasn't seen the movie yet but know the story of it.
