Box Office: Megastar Mammootty's 'Turbo' Set For Big Opening

Kochi, May 22 - In the scorching heat across the country, the Malayalam film industry is breathing fire at the box office and creating new records with each passing day and the momentum is set to continue with megastar Mammootty's action comedy Turbo.

Directed by Vysakh, Turbo, an outright mass entertainer, is scheduled to hit the big screen on May 23 and it will be looking to marry with the box office. Mammootty already scored success this year in the form of the horror thriller, Bramayugam, and Turbo is anticipated to be even bigger.



Turbo is witnessing excellent pre-sales and is already one of the highest for a Malayalam title since the COVID-19 pandemic. With few hours left for the release, the advance sales of Turbo are approaching 3 crore gross, a target which only two Malayalam films have breached in 2024 in the form of Malaikottai Vaaliban and Aadujeevitham.

The pre-sales trend of Turbo suggests the opening of 6+ crore gross which will make it one of the biggest starts of the year. Turbo is currently the third highest pre-sales for a Malayalam movie of 2024, behind Prithviraj Sukumaran's Aadujeevitham opened at 8.50+ crores gross with advance sales of 3.50 crore and superstar Mohanlal's Malaikottai Vaaliban which took the opening of 6.50+ crore with 3.35 crore pre-sales.

Produced by Mammootty under Mammootty Kampany, Turbo stars Mammootty in the titular role, alongside Raj B. Shetty, and Sunil in their debuts in Mollywood, along with Anjana Jayaprakash in a prominent role. In the movie, Turbo Jose, a Jeep driver from Idukki, gets in trouble and is forced to relocate to Chennai, where he gets entangled with Indhulekha and his brother Jerry. However, a bunch of surprises in the form of Vetrivel Shanmugha Sundaram and others await Jose in Chennai.
