T-Series Becomes World's First YouTube Channel To Reach 200 Million Subscribers

Mumbai, December 6 - Bhushan Kumar-headed music label, T-Series creates history by becoming the world's first YouTube channel to reach 200 million subscribers. The company, which was founded by Gulshan Kumar on July 11, 1983, is at least 77 million ahead of the second-placed American YouTube channel and streaming media show, Cocomelon, acquired by the UK company Moonbug Entertainment. ## T-Series is also the most viewed YouTube channel with over 172 billion views. Not just a record label, T-Series is one of the leading production houses in India. It has produced blockbuster films such as Aashiqui, Dil Hai Ke Manta Nahin, and Bewafa Sanam in the 90s apart from Tum Bin, Humko Deewana Kar Gaye, Aashiqui 2, Baby, Satyameva Jayate, Bharat, Kabir Singh, among many others in the last 20 years.## Speaking on the milestone of touching 200 million subscribers, Bhushan Kumar told the republic world, "A year back we touched the maximum number of subscribers which was 100 Million and that was also a landmark and today, we've touched 200 million. The online video sharing and social media platform, YouTube has announced that it will soon make the dislike count private. A decision, which has been taken to protect video creators from harassment. ## However, viewers will be able to like or dislike a particular video, but it will only the creator of that video be able to see the number of dislikes. Youtube had conducted a test run earlier this year, following which it learnt a reduction in dislike attacking behaviour. ## "Based on what we learned, we're making the dislike counts private across YouTube, but the dislike button is not going away. This change will start gradually rolling out today", YouTube said.## Youtube company, however, is very well aware that this decision could also make certain users unhappy as the dislike count helped them see whether or not a video can be watched. The show has not only become the most viewed show on Netflix but also has been a monster hit on Youtube. ## According to the content analytics firm Vobile, "Squid Game" has dethroned HBO Max's "Game of Thrones" on Youtube, attracting a staggering 17 billion views across a spectrum of long- and short-form videos. "Game of Thrones", which had a decade to amass its fan army, has attracted 16.9 billion from 420,000 uploaded videos on Youtube. ## The viewership comes from numerous types of video content, including official trailers and clips from the series, fan recreations of iconic moments, real-world challenges inspired by the plot, and even narration of user-generated video games based on the property (found on services like Roblox). ## Vobile estimates that the 17 billion views for "Squid Game" have come from 129,000 uploaded videos, including traditional long-form YouTube clips and their recently-launched TikTok competitor YouTube Shorts.
