Youtube Paid Over $4 Billion To Music Industry In The Last 12 Months

California, June 2, 2021: Video streaming platform, Youtube has paid more than $4 billion to the music industry in the past 12 months, according to a letter sent by Lyor Cohen, Youtube's top music executive (via The Hollywood Reporter). ## That $4 billion payout includes payments to artists, writers, labels, and others. Cohen said that 30 percent of that $4 billion figure went to creators of user-generated content. ## "Fan-powered videos have always flourished on YouTube, helping artists grow their audiences and break songs around the world", he wrote. "We're thrilled it's now also become a meaningful and incremental source of revenue alongside premium music content". ## Lyor Cohen also added that YouTube Music added more new subscribers in Q1 2021 than in any other quarter since the platform launched, although he did not provide an overall subscriber figure. ## Stay tuned...

BTS' New Song 'Butter' Becomes The Fastest To Reach 10 Million On Youtube History

New Delhi, May 21, 2021: The seven-member South Korean boy band, BTS released their new single "Butter" on May 21, and within minutes of the song released, it set a new record on Youtube history to reach 10 million views. ## Released through Big Hit Music and Sony Music Entertainment, as BTS' second English-language single, "Butter", took just 13 minutes and becomes the fastest to reach 10 million views on Youtube. The band's new music video also drew around 3.89 million concurrent viewers during its midnight (EST) premiere. ## In the first hour, "Butter" had gained almost 19 million views with nearly 45 million in the first 5 hours. Currently, the song has over 51 million views and over 5 million likes in a time period of 7 hours. It will be interesting to see if "Butter" can break BTS' previous release, BTS Dynamite, which holds the record for most views in a 24 hour period with 101.1 million views. ## If "Butter" continues on its merry way, it'll smash past the 24-hour record — we'll have to wait and see what happens.## Watch the music video below - ## ## Stay tuned...

From the last few weeks, amidst the raging debate on nepotism in the Bollywood industry and on social media, Sanjay Dutt, Alia Bhatt, Aditya Roy Kapur starrer film Sadak 2's trailer dropped on Tuesday (August 11). However, upon the launch of the trailer, it got into controversies and accused by the Hindu Parishad for hurting the sentiments of Hindus.## The film which marks Mahesh Bhatt's directorial return after two decades is set to premiere on August 28 on Disney+Hotstar. But things are not looking good for the film as it has already been facing hard response from the viewers. ## The film that was made for the theatrical release before it was announced for the OTT release has turned out to be a nightmare for the filmmakers as the upset "fans" of late actor Sushant Singh Rajput headed over to the trailer on YouTube to express their displeasure with the movie. ## It has been more than two days since trailer was launched and it has not only accused of hurting Hindu's sentiments but also has created an unwanted record as it has become the most disliked video in the world on Youtube with 95% dislike ratio on the video, going past the record of Swedish gamer PewDiePie, who received 93% dislike for his video titled: "Can this video get 1 million dislikes?"## So far, with over 6 million dislikes it has become the most disliked Youtube video in India while it is at number 7 among the most disliked Youtube videos in the world.
