Mumbai, October 14 - The Kannada film industry has achieved another global milestone as Rishab Shetty's period folk action thriller Kantara Chapter 1 has stormed past the 100 crore mark at the overseas box office on its 13th day. This makes it only the second Kannada movie ever to achieve this feat, following Yash’s KGF: Chapter 2. Produced by Hombale Films, the prequel to the 2022 blockbuster Kantara grossed approximately 98 crores internationally through its second Monday (12 days), before crossing the coveted mark on its 13th day. With this, Kantara Chapter 1 becomes the fifth Indian film of 2025 to surpass 100 crores in overseas collections. Written, directed, and headlined by Shetty, the film has already earned more than twice the overseas total of the first instalment, which grossed around 44 crores in 2022.
