Bengaluru, October 19: Rishab Shetty's Kantara: Chapter 1's box office juggernaut has created history as it has become the first movie ever to reach 200 crores gross in Karnataka. The period folk action thriller has stormed past the coveted mark in the state in 18 days.

Written, directed, and headlined by Shetty, Kantara: Chapter 1 has outperformed every film released in the region to date, including its own predecessor Kantara (2022), which was itself a massive blockbuster. The film's phenomenal local run underscores the franchise's unmatched hold over the Kannada box office.

The prequel to Kantara amassed around 199 crore gross the Karnataka in 17 days and has now crossed 200 crore gross in the state at the time of penning this piece. The original Kantara was previously the biggest grosser in the state with 183.60 crores.
