Bengaluru, March 31 - Kannada languages' highest-grossing film of all time, "KGF: Chapter 1" is all set to re-release across the country, ahead of its Chapter 2 release on April 14. The Yash-fronted action thriller film will be released in select theaters from April 8-15 at subsidized rates. ## Directed by Prashanth Neel, "KGF: Chapter 1" was one of the highest-grossing Indian films of 2018 with a worldwide gross of approx. 240 crores. The film became a nationwide sensation upon its release and went on to become one of the biggest blockbusters of Kannada cinema. Bangalore, March 26 - One of the biggest Kannada production houses, Hombale Films, fronted by Vijay Kiragandur, is gearing up for its biggest release yet in the form of Yash-starrer "KGF: Chapter 2". The Pan-India film, which is expected to break many existing box office records, will be debuting in theaters worldwide on April 14 in multiple languages. ## Directed by Prashanth Neel, "KGF 2" is the second part of the studios' hugely successful 2018's film that is currently the highest-grossing Kannada movie of all time with a worldwide cume of 238 crores. The sequel is carrying a lot of hype and buzz and is sure to take a mammoth opening, especially in the Hindi dubbed version. ## KGF is not the only Pan-India movie in the development under Hombale Films. The studios' "Salaar", fronted by superstar Prabhas is already in production and almost 30% shoot is completed. The Kannada-Telugu bilingual movie is being directed by Prashanth Neel, and there are strong reports that this movie will also be released in two parts. It will be released in multiple languages including Hindi and is touted to be as strong as KGF. ## Apart from the aforementioned movies, Hombale Films is working on two more Pan-India films, for which the official announcement will be made in the month of June. Bengaluru, March 24 - Superstar Prabhas will return to the action with Prashanth Neel-directed "Salaar". The Pan-India movie was announced in 2020 with a release date in April 2021, but the shoot of the film kept getting delayed due to the covid-19 pandemic, resulting in the postponement of the arrival date.## Now, the producer of the film, Vijay Kiragandur of Hombale Films, has provided some key updates regarding the shoot and tentative release date plans. The producer, in an interview with Pinkvilla, confirmed that the shoot of "Salaar" will resume in the month of May.## "We are shooting for about 30 percent of the film. Prabhas then got busy with the promotions of Radhe Shyam and Prashanth got tied up with the post-production of KGF 2. We resume shooting from the month of May", he said, adding that the entire shoot will be wrapped up by the end of this year. ## About the release date, Vijay said, "It will be a 2023 release. We intend to release it between the window of April to June". ## There has been a lot of speculation about the plot details of "Salaar" as many believe it will be in line with the "KGF" theme. However, the producer refused to provide any hint about its plot because of the strict interaction by director Neel. Bangalore, January 24 - The Kannada film industry is heaving a sigh of relief after the Karnataka government decides to lift the weekend curfew, imposed two weeks ago. This news comes at a time when the film industry is looking for revival after a major setback caused by the second covid-19 wave. ## Earlier, just when the Kannada film industry was set for the blockbuster opening of the year, the 3rd covid wave forced the government to announce fresh restrictions in the state. However, with the 3rd wave not resulting in a surge in hospitalization and the recovery rate also being high, the government withdrew its decision of weekend curfew. ## Most of the theatres across the state, which had been closed for two weeks because of the weekend curfew, are all set to reopen and welcome audiences. Though the state government is permitting only 50 percent occupancy at present, multiple reports have suggested that 100 percent occupancy will be allowed by the next weekend. ## Meanwhile, the filmmakers have started rescheduling the release dates of their movies, which were supposed to release two weeks ago. Among the first Kannada films to release in the state after the reopening of cinemas is "DNA", which is slated to hit theaters this week, followed by "Obhattane Dikku", starring Yogesh on January 28.## However, the fans are waiting for the release of Rakshith Shetty's "777 Charlie", Darling Krishna, and Milana's "Love Mocktail 2", Kichcha Sudeepa's Pan-India film "Vikrant Rona", among other Kannada movies. "777 Charlie" was supposed to release last year. The makers will now announce the new release date in the next few days.## Kichcha Sudeepa's big-budget 3D adventure film "Vikrant Rona" is slated for February 24 release, and it looks like the movie will go ahead with its planned release. Interestingly, makers had received a whopping Rs. 100 crores offer from the leading OTT giant for its direct OTT release but rejected it stating that it is made for the big screen experience. ## Meanwhile, the team helming the much-anticipated "Bairagee", starring Shivarajkumar and Dhananjay, has announced the completion of the shooting. The team is all set to launch the teaser soon. Shivarajkumar's last film "Bhajarangi 2" was released on October 29 last year. It opened well at the box before got a major jolt due to the death of Shiva Rajkumar's brother Puneeth.## Last year, the Kannada films were able to catch the attention of movie lovers before and after the second covid-19 wave. Bangalore, January 8 - The makers of Kichacha Sudeepa's big-budget action-adventure film "Vikrant Rona" have reinstated their commitment to the film's theatrical release, despite the lucrative OTT offers. Directed by Anup Bhandari, "Vikrant Rona" is currently slated for February 24, 2022, worldwide in multiple languages. ## Since the movie has been delayed a few times, there were reports that the makers might take the OTT route for the film. It has been reported that one of the leading digital platforms offered Rs. 100 crores for direct-to-OTT release. Producer Jack Manjunath too confirmed that they are getting many big offers but they are committed to the theatrical release of the film. ## "It is true that we have been receiving some really good offers for direct online releases as it is a film that created a buzz nationally. But the film has seen nearly three years of hard work to ensure it is a world-class 3D release. Hence, while the prices being offered are tempting, we are waiting for a proper theatrical release to ensure everyone sees our vision the way we intended them to", he said according to ETimes. ## Meanwhile, the makers haven't taken a call on pushing the release date of "Vikrant Rona" yet as the country is going through the third covid-19 wave. Many states have imposed restrictions on theaters, including Karnataka, where theater capacity has been reduced to 50% and night curfews have also been introduced. ## However, they did have to change their plans with regard to promotions. "We had a teaser that was planned for a January-11 release where it would have been playing along with all the big festive releases across different languages. But, with most of them postponing their releases, we were forced to change that plan and have deferred our teaser launch for now".## "Vikrant Rona" is a 3D film that will be released in Kannada along with dubbed versions of Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and other languages. The cast of the film also includes Nirup Bhandari, Neeta Ashok, and Vasuki Vaibhav, among others. Bengaluru, November 29 - Actor Arjun Sarja has been cleared of sexual misconduct charges leveled against him by south Indian actress Sruthi Hariharan when she came out with her '#MeToo' story. The Karnataka police have submitted a 'B-Report to the First Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (ACMM) court in this regard, according to the new India express.## Actress Sruthi Hariharan has made a four-page statement against Arjun Sarja on her social media as part of "Me Too campaign" and revealed how she was affected by the incident voicing her support for the #MeToo Movement. The case was taken up by the Cubbon Park police in Bengaluru for investigation three years ago.## Sruthi alleged that before a shot, the actor, on the pretext of a rehearsal, hugged her and ran his hands up and down her back without her consent during the shoot of the movie 'Vismaya'. "I was aghast. I am all for depicting realism in cinema, but this felt absolutely wrong. His intent seemed anything but professional. I hated that he did it and was angry that I didn't know what to say then", Sruti wrote.## Police also said that the victim Sruthi Hariharan has also received official communication about it. Now, the government of Karnataka has decided to honour the late actor with the Karnataka Ratna award posthumously. ## The Karnataka Ratna is the state's highest civilian award. Puneeth Rajkumar was the son of veteran actor Rajkumar. He was cremated with state honors last month. The actor, who was the star of films like Mourya, Arasu, Raamand Anjani Putra, is survived by his wife Ashwini Revanth and has two children.## Chief Minister of Karnataka Basavaraj S Bommai took to Twitter and announced the same.
