Los Angeles, September 25, 2021 - It took just three weeks for "Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings" to reach "Black Widow's" lifetime domestic box office numbers and a few more hours to cross it. There were a lot of doubts about the audience visiting theaters amid the pandemic, and "Shang-Chi" blown away those doubts and becomes the biggest domestic blockbuster. ## The Destin Daniel Cretton-directed superhero movie has completed its 4th weekend in the domestic market and its total collection stands at $196.5 million, after collecting another $13 million in the 4th weekend. The Simu Liu fronted pic had officially crossed its fellow Marvel movie "Black Widow's" $184.4M domestic cum on Friday and became the highest grosser Hollywood pic in North America during the 18-months of the pandemic era. ## Universal Pictures' "Fast & Furious 9 (F9)" remains the third highest-grossing movie at the domestic B.O. during the pandemic with $172.1M. However, globally, it is the top grosser Hollywood film with $716M. Warner Bros./Legendary's "Godzilla vs. Kong" is at number two with $467M globally, then Black Widow with $378.7M WW, and Shang-Chi with well over $360M around the globe. ## "Shang-Chi's" lifetime domestic box office projection is around $225 million. It has already crossed the domestic box office collection of previous Marvel movies such as Captain America ($176 million in 2011), Ant-Man ($180 million in 2015), and Thor ($181 million in 2011) along with The Incredible Hulk ($132 million in 2008). It is well on track to become the first Hollywood pic to reach $200 million domestic cum for the first time since early 2020.## Meanwhile, the Telugu movie Love Story starring Naga Chaitanya and Sai Pallavi kicked off to an outstanding start in the USA on Thursday. Initially, the studio planned to release 10 titles, but following a number of unexpected 2021 premieres across the platform, Marvel has now pushed its one of the most anticipated Disney Plus shows, "Ms. Marvel". ## Marvel's first Muslim lead character and one of the newest characters within the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) gets her own Disney Plus show, with newcomer Iman Vellani in the title role as Ms. Marvel, also known as 16-year-old Pakistani-American Kamala Khan, who has a particular fondness for Captain Marvel. ## Kevin Feige headed studio had initially announced the late 2021 premiere date for "Ms. Marvel", but now postponed it to 2022 after so many shows and movies took over the calendar in 2021. The new "Fantastic Beasts" film will revolve around Albus Dumbledore, a famous Harry Potter figure that many original Potter fans will always line up to see more of.## Things will be a little bit different in Fantastic Beasts 3 on the casting front as Johnny Depp who was a part of the franchise's second film is no longer a part of the third film. Mads Mikkelsen will step in for Johnny Depp in this entry. Mumbai, September 19, 2021: Legendary / Warner Bros.' epic sci-fi movie "Dune" has been released in some of the key international markets and is off to a great start with over $35 million in the first four days. ## Now, the movie gets a major boost as it has been confirmed to release in the biggest movie market, China, and will be opening day-and-date with the U.S. on October 22. Legendary East is handling the release of Dune in the PRC and it will release everywhere in China. ## On the other hand, Universal Pictures' "No Time To Die" starring Daniel Craig as James Bond for the last time, has also set China release date on October 29. China being an important market for Bond movies, the movie studios intentionally waited to rebound in the throes of the pandemic. ## Both the movies are confirmed by the Maoyan website as upcoming releases in China. Dune and No Time to Die are the only two Hollywood movies that had recently been granted certificates and we were waiting on release dates in China. More than 60 years after the erstwhile Soviet Union beat the United States into orbit with the launch of its Sputnik satellite, the country is again leading the race in the entertainment field. ## According to reports, Russia has announced plans to produce a feature film titled "The Challenge" in outer space, allowing itself to become the first country to do so. If all goes well, the production team will lift off next month on a 12-day mission to pull off the historic first, beating Tom Cruise's untitled passion project. ## A Russian commission of medical and safety experts approved a plan for an actress and a director to blast off early next month to film the first full-length, fictional movie in space. "The Challenge," tells of a doctor launched on short notice to the International Space Station to save the life of a cosmonaut.## "For the first two seconds it's scary", Yulia Peresild, who is on track to become the first actor in space said according to New York Times, of her training on an airplane flight that briefly created a microgravity environment. "After that, it's beautiful".## Last year NASA announced that it was partnering with Elon Musk's SpaceX and Tom Cruise to shoot a movie that would be partly filmed aboard the International Space Station. The Edge of Tomorrow director Doug Liman is also attached to helm the project, which set the minimum budget of $200 million. However, with no shooting timeline set for Cruise's film yet, it is set to lose the space race against Russian production. ## Meanwhile, the launch of the "The Challenge" crew is expected to take place on October 5th. Channel One will live stream the event internationally with, Channel One CEO Konstantin Ernst calling it "a breathtaking reality show and a chance to attract millions of TV viewers". Los Angeles, September 17, 2021: Marvel Studios gearing up for its next film, academy award-winning director Chloe Zhao's "Eternals", which will introduce a race of powerful ancient beings to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. ## Eternals' introduction as ancient beings in MCU, however, raises a lot of questions about how they've spent their time to this point, mainly in regards to the attack from Thanos and why they chose to do nothing to support Avengers in Infinity War or Endgame. ## While the trailer of "Eternals" gave a little bit of idea about the same, the movie's director Chloe Zhao has also assured that the fans will have plenty of explanation in the movie itself about why the new MCU superheroes couldn't interfere in Avengers: Infinity War or Endgame. ## While speaking to Total Film (via comicbook), Zhao was asked about the complicated relationship the Eternals have with the people of Earth. According to her, the Eternals were instructed not to interfere, and those instructions came from the Celestials themselves, long before Thanos or any of the other Avengers characters were born.## "[The audience] will understand why", Zhao said. "Not only why, but how complicated not interfering made them feel. We explore that. You'll see that in the film. The Eternals were instructed not to interfere with any human conflict unless Deviants are involved. There's a reason why that's the case. And that was the instruction from the prime Celestial Arishem".## In the film, we will get to see the origin of Eternals in MCU and about their relationship to the Celestials and why they were specifically instructed not to help the people of Earth, even in their most desperate moments. Zhao said that the idea of going back in time and exploring it before Thanos or anyone was born, excited her much. ## Eternals stars an ensemble cast including Salma Hayek, Angelina Jolie, Gemma Chan, Richard Madden, Kumail Nanjiani, Lia McHugh, Brian Tyree Henry, Lauren Ridloff, Barry Keoghan, Don Lee, Harish Patel, and Kit Harington. Mumbai, September 16, 2021: The American TV reality show "The Activist" lead by judges Priyanka Chopra Jonas, multiple-Grammy winning singer-songwriter Usher, and 'Dancing with the Stars' star Julianne Hough, came under fire for its concept, which led the makers of the show to change its concept. ## "The Activist", which was supposed to be a five-week series, has now shifted to a one-time documentary special format, according to Variety. ICYDK, the reality show (now documentary) will consist of six activists from around the world, who will work "to bring meaningful change to one of three urgent universal causes: health, education, and the environment". ## However, the format of the show sparked huge controversy as many called it the "worst idea ever" and a business-minded show. And after facing criticism, CBS and producing partners Global Citizen and Live Nation issued a statement announcing the change in the show's format.## "The Activist was designed to show a wide audience the passion, long hours, and ingenuity that activists put into changing the world, hopefully inspiring others to do the same. However, it has become apparent the format of the show as announced distracts from the vital work these incredible activists do in their communities every day. The push for global change is not a competition and requires a global effort", the statement read.## "As a result, we are changing the format to remove the competitive element and reimagining the concept into a primetime documentary special (air date to be announced), it will showcase the tireless work of six activists and the impact they have advocating for causes they deeply believe in. Each activist will be awarded a cash grant for the organization of their choice, as was planned for the original show", the statement continued.## Global Citizen has even apologized to people for hurting their sentiments. "Global activism centers on collaboration and cooperation, not competition. We apologize to the activists, hosts, and the larger activist community -- we got it wrong. However, despite being connected with each other, at least in Comic books, Venom 2 won't feature Spider-Man. ## The fact that Sony has built a new Spider-Man movie franchise with Marvel Studios as well as a Venom movie franchise under its own roof. This may look like that a Spider-Man and a Venom crossover can happen anytime, like all the marvel movies. But this isn't that easy as again, the fact, Venom isn't an official part of the "Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU)" like Spider-Man. ## Because Venom isn't a part of MCU despite being connected to Spider-Man, has kept fans guessing whether or not there will be an official crossover between Tom Holland's Spider-Man and Tom Hardy's Venom. Well, it is not happening anytime soon but a future crossover is definitely on the cards, as Venom director Andy Serkis said. ## In a new interview, "Venom: Let There Be Carnage" director Andy Serkis addresses the question of a Spider-Man and Venom crossover and confirms that yes it will happen, but "when" is the question. "Look, that's the question on everyone's lips", Serkis told IGN (via comicbook). "They want to know if Venom is gonna meet Spider-Man, but personally, it's never gonna happen. I'm only joking, of course, it's gonna happen". ## While a Spider-Man and a Venom crossover is inevitable, Andy Serkis adds the important contextual note that to reach that stage, the most-awaited crossover, one will have to wait because by rushing to get there, fans could miss out on the potentially richer journey in between. ## "Look, it depends when you want to get there, and also, what the appetite is", Serkis explains. "If people want more Venom stories, then, to jump straight to Spider-Man, you could be missing out on so many great supervillain characters in between now and then.
