Box Office: Marvel's 'Shang-Chi' Becomes Biggest Domestic Blockbuster
Los Angeles, September 25, 2021 - It took just three weeks for "Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings" to reach "Black Widow's" lifetime domestic box office numbers and a few more hours to cross it. There were a lot of doubts about the audience visiting theaters amid the pandemic, and "Shang-Chi" blown away those doubts and becomes the biggest domestic blockbuster. ## The Destin Daniel Cretton-directed superhero movie has completed its 4th weekend in the domestic market and its total collection stands at $196.5 million, after collecting another $13 million in the 4th weekend. The Simu Liu fronted pic had officially crossed its fellow Marvel movie "Black Widow's" $184.4M domestic cum on Friday and became the highest grosser Hollywood pic in North America during the 18-months of the pandemic era. ## Universal Pictures' "Fast & Furious 9 (F9)" remains the third highest-grossing movie at the domestic B.O. during the pandemic with $172.1M. However, globally, it is the top grosser Hollywood film with $716M. Warner Bros./Legendary's "Godzilla vs. Kong" is at number two with $467M globally, then Black Widow with $378.7M WW, and Shang-Chi with well over $360M around the globe. ## "Shang-Chi's" lifetime domestic box office projection is around $225 million. It has already crossed the domestic box office collection of previous Marvel movies such as Captain America ($176 million in 2011), Ant-Man ($180 million in 2015), and Thor ($181 million in 2011) along with The Incredible Hulk ($132 million in 2008). It is well on track to become the first Hollywood pic to reach $200 million domestic cum for the first time since early 2020.## Meanwhile, the Telugu movie Love Story starring Naga Chaitanya and Sai Pallavi kicked off to an outstanding start in the USA on Thursday.
