'Baahubali' producer's suggestion on AP ticket pricing issue

Hyderabad, Dec 24 (IANS) What appears to be a never-ending episode between the Telugu Film Industry and the Andhra Pradesh government is the ticket pricing and movie business-related issues. ## In the wake of slashing movie tickets and the seizure of multiple theatres, Telugu star Nani had reacted that these activities are not going to help the industry or anyone who depends on the movie business. ## Quoting Nani's speech reference, 'Baahubali' producer Shobu Yarlagadda listed out a few suggestions to deal with this issue. ## In a series of tweets, Shobu said: "Maximum Retail Price (MRP) (unless it is an essential commodity) is decided by the producers/manufacturers of packaged goods not the government. Just saying! ## "If AP Government, wants to maximize tax collection from movies, it should 1. Mandate 100 per cent computerisation of ticket sales in all theatres, 2. Automatic and real-time updating of ticket sales. 3. Free and variable pricing of movie tickets (the free market will decide the right price)." ## Shobu opined that it might work both in the favour of exhibitors and the state government. ## "This will be a win-win situation, that will benefit the exhibition sector, film industry, and the Government!," added the 'Baahubali' producer. ## Among the very few people who stood against the government's decision, Shobu is one of them. ## Stay Tuned To Sacnilk For More Updates.

IANS Review: '83' delivers an unforgettable experience (IANS Rating: ****)

Film: '83' (Showing in theatres); Duration: 163 minutes. ## Director: Kabir Khan. Cast: Ranveer Singh, Deepika Padukone, Pankaj Tripathi, Tahir Raj Bhasin, Saqib Saleem, Neena Gupta, Boman Irani, Ammy Virk, Chirag Patil, Dinker Sharma, Nishant Dahiya, Harrdy Sandhu, Sahil Khattar, Adinath Kothare and Dhairya Karwa. ## IANS Rating: **** ## New Delhi, Dec 24 (IANS) Director Kabir Khan's ‘83' is a recreation of a momentous event - the Indian cricket team's first-ever World Cup victory in 1983. Despite being predictable, the film offers an exhilarating and occasionally touching experience that has viewers leaving the auditorium caught up in an afterglow of excited patriotism. ## The film mounted like a brilliantly restored or recreated documentary, captures the three and a half months of - 'the may or may not win' drama, where the actors and few of the actual players seamlessly weave in and out of the narrative. ## The film focuses only on cricket and has everything that cricket fans could have possibly hoped for. The narrative- highlights and flashes the crucial matches and the moments in-between them, bringing back memories to the big screen after nearly 38 years. ## As you are transported back in time, you witness how the 'underdog' Indian team was treated with disdain, and despite all odds, how they emerged as winners. It is invigorating to witness the matches once again and your mood swings like Kapil's bat. You cheer for him when he creates history with a fabulous 175- not out against the Zimbabwe team, and your blood boils when you realise that the legendary game was not recorded on camera because BBC did not think it was important enough. ## What you see on screen is Kapil's charisma, the locker-room banter, the occasional tension and problematic behaviour between the teammates, the strategy they planned during the matches and above all, the anguish and thrills of the matches played during that unforgettable summer. ## Casting is another aspect of the film that could not have been better either. Ranveer with his prosthetic dentures- oddly resembles Kapil Dev, but he slips into his shoes effortlessly delivering a brilliant performance that tugs at the heartstrings. While he emulates the captain of the team, Saqib Saleem plays Mohinder Amarnath, Tahir Raj Bhasin essays Sunil Gavaskar, Jatin Sarna is Yashpal Sharma, Jiiva is K. Srikkanth, Harrdy Sandhu is Madan Lal, Nishant Dahiya is Roger Binny, Ammy Virk plays Balwinder Sandhu, Addinath Kothare is Dilip Vengsakar, Dhairya Karwa is Ravi Shastri, Chirag Patil is Sandip Patil. ## Boman Irani as the commentator Farrokh Engineer, Pankaj Tripathi as PR Man Singh, Neena Gupta as Kapil's caring and supportive mother, and Deepika Padukone as Kapil's wife Romi have their moments of on-screen glory. ## The film is astutely mounted, with ace production values. ## Overall, the narrative - like most of Kabir Khan's films - is unabashedly manipulative, but this one delivers a cinema experience one won't be able to forget about anytime soon. ## Stay Tuned To Sacnilk For More Such Updates.

IANS Review: 'Blood Money': Engaging film that works despite exaggerated sequences

Director: Sarjun. Cast: Priya Bhavani Shankar, Shirish, Kishore, Panchu Subbu and Vinoth. ## IANS Rating: *** ## New Delhi, Dec 24 (IANS) Director Sarjun's 'Blood Money' is a reasonably well-made thriller that revolves around the efforts of a team of Indian journalists looking to save two innocent men from being sent to the gallows in a foreign country. ## The story begins with an elderly couple in a rural part of the country getting a phone call, saying that both their sons are to be hanged in Kuwait the next day. The mother of the men is distraught as she does not know how to stop her sons from meeting their end in a land, the customs of which she knows very little about. ## At the other end, the two imprisoned men too are completely heartbroken. The eldest son, Kaliyappan (Kishore), is yet to see the face of his young daughter, whom he loves dearly. It suddenly dawns on him that his dream of meeting his child one day could end up being just a dream. ## The parents of the men decide to approach the district administration for help. Even as the official process is set in motion, an officer of the district administration, who realises that they have very little time on their hands, chooses to make a video of the old woman appealing for help and shares it on a WhatsApp group. ## This video clip makes its way to the mobile of Rachel (Priya Bhavani Shankar), a television journalist who is badly missing her dad whom she lost as a child. The old woman's appeal moves Rachel and she decides to help the Indian prisoners in any way she can. She begins to investigate the case with help from her teammates. With just hours to go for the hanging, will Rachel and her teammates be able to unearth facts and stop the hanging? 'Blood Money' gives you the answers... ## 'Blood Money' works primarily because of the manner in which the story is narrated. It is engaging and moves at a brisk pace, thanks to some neat, tight sequences. The credit for having narrated this story so well must go primarily to its screenplay writer Shankar Das, whose dialogues are not only short but also significant and its editor Prasanna G K, who keeps the plot tight and gripping. ## Kishore, who plays one of the convicts, does a fantastic job as does actor Shirish, who plays the journalist Sudhan. However, the credit for carrying this film on her shoulders should go to Priya Bhavani Shankar, who plays journalist Rachel with absolute ease and elegance. Her experience as a television journalist before turning an actress seems to have come in handy for Priya, who delivers a commanding performance in this film. ## On the technical front, Sathish Raghunandan's music for the film is apt and the number that is played right at the end of the film is mellifluous. ## Director Sarjun's victory lies in the fact that he's picked the right people for the right jobs. ## 'Blood Money' is inspired by a real life incident. However, the team has exaggerated certain portions to add to the drama and this definitely does more harm than good to the film's interests -- a case in point being the manner in which decisions are shown being made in a newsroom and the editor choosing to air a story that the CEO has ordered to take down. ## 'Blood Money' might have its share of problems but on the whole, it works. ## Stay Tuned To Sacnilk For Such Updates.
