Daniel Craig doesn't want James Bond to be streamed

Los Angeles, Dec 25 (IANS) Hollywood star Daniel Craig has urged people not to stream James Bond films because "event movies" deserve to be seen on a big cinema screen. ## Craig said: "One of the greatest things that's happened is we got this movie into the cinema. ## "That's where Bond movies should be. They don't look so good on a phone. They look great on an Imax screen. It looks great on a 30ft screen. ## "And they are family events. It gets the family out. As long as there's event movies like this then cinemas got a chance of surviving." ## While Daniel's Bond successor has yet to be announced, the 'Knives Out' star has offered some tips for whoever takes over as the suave spy, reports femalefirst.co.uk. ## He told The Sun newspaper: "There's a couple things I'd say. One is don't be s***. I would say you have to grab it and make it your own." ## For the new Bond, Craig thinks the franchise is in a "good place" and he believes there are still a lot of good stories to be told. ## He added: "I hope I've left it in a good place and I hope the next person can just make it fly. It's an amazing franchise. I still think there's a lot of stories to tell." ## He recently shared that he thought it was "very satisfying" that Bond was apparently killed at the end of 'No Time To Die' after he sacrificed himself to save partner Madeleine (Lea Seydoux) and his daughter Mathilde (Lisa-Dorah Sonnet). ## Reflection on the dramatic finale, he said: "There were lots of different ideas that came and went and some of it stuck. The through line of this is family (and) love, plus the fact we had an end so it was about hanging the film off that." ## Stay Tuned To Sacnilk For More Such Updates.

Freida Pinto recalls shooting Christmas movie 'at height of summer'

Los Angeles, Dec 25 (IANS) Actress Freida Pinto shot her new festive film in New York and London "at the height of summer", but the cast were forced to bundle up in warm clothing to make the scenes seem realistic. ## Speaking to HELLO! magazine, Pinto said: "We were shooting a Christmas movie in jackets and scarves at the height of summer." ## Pinto found some benefits to her roomy winter costumes as they helped conceal her baby bump because she was pregnant with her and husband Cory Tran's son Rumi-Ray - who was born in November - at the time, reports femalefirst.co.uk. ## She said: "The genius costume design helped with that." ## The movie 'A Christmas No. 1' sees the actress play music manager Meg, who flees New York for London and, while tasked with finding a Christmas chart topper for a boy band, she comes across a track written by an ill teenage girl. ## However, she clashes with the youngster's uncle, who is played by Iwan Rheon. ## She said: "They're at loggerheads and don't even like each other to begin with. But that's how all romances begin - at least in the movies." ## The actress' next project is 'Mr. Malcolm's List' and she's thankful she'll be given loose-fitting Regency outfits to wear. ## She said: "I love the period costumes but don't think corsets are my go-to." ## Stay Tuned To Sacnilk For More Such Updates.

'Spider-Man: No Way Home' becomes biggest movie of the year worldwide

Los Angeles, Dec 25 (IANS) Tom Holland-starrer 'Spider-Man: No Way Home' has become the biggest movie of the year worldwide. ## It's set to cross the $1 billion mark on Christmas Day, reports variety.com. ## At 11 days, it would be the second-fastest to hit that milestone (behind 2019's 'Avengers: Endgame' at five days and tied with 2018's 'Avengers: Infinity War'). It would also be the first theatrical release of the pandemic to join the billion-dollar club even without China, the largest box-office market in the world. ## 'No Way Home' made $29.3 million domestically on Thursday, bringing its seven-day gross to $385.8 million, the third-highest seven-day gross of all time, the highest seven-day gross in the 'Spider-Man' franchise, and the second-highest seven-day gross ever for December and for a superhero film. ## The Thursday earning is the third-highest Thursday gross of December of all time, and the highest Thursday take for Sony, the 'Spider-Man' franchise and for a superhero film. ## Internationally, it brought in $32.2 million on Thursday, bumping its overseas total to $490.2 million and global haul to $876.0 million. ## 'The Matrix Resurrections', meanwhile, made $6.4 million on Wednesday and $4.1 million on Thursday from 3,552 venues in North America for a two-day total of $10.5 million. Picking up 20 years after 2003's 'The Matrix Revolutions', the sci-fi adventure is expected to finish the holiday weekend with $40 million to $50 million. If it hits the higher end of estimates, 'Resurrections' would beat 'Dune' ($41 million) to become Warner Bros.' top opening of the year. ## Another sequel, 'Sing 2', earned $8.1 million on Wednesday and $7.5 million on Thursday at 3,892 North America locations for a total of $15.6 million. Including ticket sales from Thanksgiving weekend advanced screenings, it's grossed $17.2 million so far. The family-friendly musical is on track to rack up at least $40 million by Sunday. ## In total, seven new films opened this weekend, including 'The King's Man', 'The Tender Bar', 'A Journal for Jordan', 'American Underdog' and 'Licorice Pizza'. But none of them will top 'Spider-Man: No Way Home', which debuted to a record-breaking $260 million last weekend. ## On Monday, 'No Way Home' raked in another $37 million, and early estimates for this weekend predicted the superhero movie would make another $100 million this weekend. ## 'Sing 2' and 'The Matrix Resurrections', which both opened on Wednesday, are vying for the number 2 spot. ## Directed by Garth Jennings, the 'Sing' sequel stars Matthew McConaughey, Reese Witherspoon, Scarlett Johansson, Nick Kroll, Pharrell Williams, Taron Egerton and Bono as animated animals who perform hits like Billie Eilish's 'Bad Guy' and Elton John's 'Goodbye Yellow Brick Road'. ## The fourth 'Matrix' movie, directed by Lana Wachowski, sees the return of Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss as Neo and Trinity -- though neither remembers the past. ## 'The Matrix Resurrections', which debuted simultaneously on HBO Max, also stars Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Priyanka Chopra, Jonathan Groff, Neil Patrick Harris and Jada Pinkett Smith. ## Stay Tuned To Sacnilk For More Such Updates.

Michael B. Jordan on getting directing lessons from Denzel Washington

Los Angeles, Dec 25 (IANS) Hollywood star Michael B. Jordan is preparing to make his directorial debut with 'Creed III', the latest chapter in Adonis Creed's saga, which is set to hit theatres on Thanksgiving 2022. ## When news broke that Jordan would take the helm of the franchise, in addition to starring as the boxing champ, the first-time feature filmmaker released a statement explaining why he wanted to take on the challenge. ## "Directing has always been an aspiration, but the timing had to be right," Jordan stated. ## "'Creed III' is that moment, a time in my life where I've grown more sure of who I am, holding agency in my own story, maturing personally, growing professionally and learning from the Greats like Ryan Coogler, most recently Denzel Washington, and other top tier directors I respect. All of which sets the table for this moment." ## Jordan worked with Washington on the true-life romantic drama 'A Journal for Jordan', which is now in theatres, where he picked up a few tips from the two-time Oscar winner and four-time director, reports variety.com. ## Washington recounted his conversations about directing with Jordan, saying that his first piece of honest advice was to "prepare, prepare, prepare". ## "It's much harder than you think because he's acting and directing,a Washington told Variety. ## "But (Michael's) motivated and he's very, very bright, so I'm sure he will do well." ## "He's full of quotes and advice and a lot of gems," Jordan added about learning from the storied entertainer. ## In particular, Jordan keyed into the filmmaker's preparation process, describing Washington's rehearsals as "spot-on and intense". ## "I think we did three weeks before we started filming, which I think is incredible," Jordan shared. "I've always done rehearsals before, but I think on ('Creed'), I'm going to make sure I get enough rehearsals to really massage the scenes that I feel like are the biggest days for my cast, once we actually start production." ## The cast for 'Creed III' is slowly coming together, as Jordan is expected to be reunited with Adonis Creed's on-screen love, Bianca (Tessa Thompson) and mother (Phylicia Rashad), with 'Lovecraft Country' and 'The Harder They Fall' star Jonathan Majors joining the crew as the story's mysterious antagonist. ## "Jonathan's just an incredible actor, an incredible person," Jordan said, explaining why he felt Majors would make the perfect sparring partner. ## "Me and him, we just connected the first time we spoke. And then when I pitched him the film, he hit me right back and it was all go from there, you know? So, he was bought in." ## Jordan added: "He has so many different talents, and things that he brings to the table. He was just perfect for the role, so it was a match made in heaven. I'm extremely lucky. We're very blessed to have him and I can't wait for everybody to see what we do." ## Majors recently opened up to Variety about squaring off against Jordan and playing the antagonist, versus the leading man roles he's landed lately. ## Majors also shared how his training regimen has affected him personally. "This is something my coach said: 'People live the way they fight'. So you learn a lot about yourself when you're training, and you can surprise yourself." ## And through the intense boxing workouts, Majors tapped into something profound about his acting. "It's just you and your fatigue, and when the body gives out, you can explore the spirit," he said. ## For more and the latest news about Hollywood, stay tuned to us.

Playing Madan Lal's wife, who conceived during the 1983 World Cup

Mumbai, Dec 24 (IANS) As much as "83" presents the story of what went on in the field and the dressing room, it also offers a peek into the lives of the players off the field in their personal spaces. ## Just as Deepika Padukone essays the role of Romi Dev, wife of the 1983 World Cup-winning squad's captain, Kapil Dev, multi-lingual actress Wamiqa Gabbi steps into the shoes of Anu Lal, wife of Madan Lal, the medium pacer from Delhi who took three crucial wickets in that historic final. Gabbi's fellow Punjabi actor, Harrdy Sandhu, plays Madan Lal. ## Wamiqa recently spoke to IANS about her association with the film, director Kabir Khan's briefing to her about the part and what the film means to her. Excerpts from the interview. ## Recollecting how she became a part of the film, the actress said: "I remember getting a call from the office of Mukesh Chhabra (the casting director of '83'). They wanted to come and have a word with me. That's when I met them and was convinced at the very first meeting that I wanted to do this part because it was Kabir Khan and the film was about the 1983 Cricket World Cup. It is a historic event!" ## About her pitching for the character, she said: "I was very nervous about playing Anu Lal and I wanted to portray her in the most natural way possible so that people can resonate with the character. I wanted to portray the emotions correctly and I hope people will like what I did." Anu Lal, incidentally, is from the Mohan Meakin family. ## Sharing Kabir Khan's brief to her, Wamiqa said: "The wives of the cricketers appear for a very brief time in the film. He (Khan) explained to me the situation and how this cricketer's wife must be feeling about her husband. It was not just a brief for my character. The film is such that once I heard about what all happened during the World Cup, I automatically understood the situation and acted accordingly." ## She revealed one of the key moments of the story. "This was part of my back story. Anu Lal conceived her first child during the 1983 World Cup and that was big for me," Wamiqa said. "I was like, as a woman she must be feeling so vulnerable, that's the reason you'll see Anu Lal being very vulnerable in the film. These small bits of information about the character really helped." ## Asked what this film means to her career prospects, Wamiqa had an emotional answer. "Well, this film is a celebration of the 1983 World Cup. It's a very special film to me. I didn't think of this film as something that is going to help me in my career. I wanted to do this film, I wanted to be a part of this film because of its content, the message that it was trying to convey and celebrate." ## She added: "The kind of work that I am doing in the future, that's the kind of work that will set the bar audience expectations. '83' is a very special film. I have done this film for completely different reasons and I am so proud to be a part of it. There is nothing else, there is no other reason for me to be a part of '83'." ## Stay Tuned To Sacnilk For More Such Updates.
