Tovino Thomas, Keerthy Suresh-Starrer 'Vaashi' Wrapped Up

Chennai, Jan 20 (IANS) The team of director Vishnu Raghav's Malayalam film 'Vaashi', featuring actors Tovino Thomas and Keerthy Suresh in the lead, on Thursday announced that it had wrapped up the film. ## Actor Tovino took to his Instagram page to make the announcement. ## He said, "And it's a wrap at 'Vaashi'! Super happy to have joined hands with buddy Vishnu Raghav in his first venture as director. I wish the world for you brother! And thanks to the amazing co-star Keerthy Suresh and the cast and the crew for making 'Vaashi' most memorable." ## Heightening the suspense factor, the actor said, "This film portrays something that's super relevant and it will all reach out to you soon!" ## The film, which had gone on floors on November 17 last year, had its lead cast Tovino and Keerthy Suresh joining the sets on November 28. ## The film has raised expectations as this is the first time that Keerthy Suresh has worked with Tovino Thomas. ## Stay Tuned To Sacnilk.

Malayalam Actress Anna Ben Tests Positive For Covid

Chennai, Jan 20 (IANS) Malayalam actress Anna Ben has announced that she has tested positive for Covid. ## The actress took to social media to make the announcement. She said, "Tested positive for Covid with all the symptoms except the loss of smell. Whoever came in contact with me, please get tested and I hope you are safe. In home quarantine at the moment."## The actress further went on to point out that the virus, which she had managed to dodge for two years, had finally got her.## Anna Ben's upcoming film, 'Naradan', directed by Aashiq Abu and featuring Tovino Thomas along with her, has also been postponed because of the onset of the third wave of Covid.## Numbers of those testing positive have been going up ever since the new year began, during the third wave of Covid.## On Wednesday, Malayalam actor and MP from Kerala, Suresh Gopi, also said he had tested positive for Covid.## Stay Tuned To Sacnilk

Tovino Thomas's 'Naradhan' cleared with U/A certificate, film release postponed

Chennai, Jan 16 (IANS) Director Aashiq Abu's Malayalam film 'Naradan', featuring Tovino Thomas and Anna Ben in the lead, has been cleared for release with a U/A certificate.## However, sadly, the onset of the third Covid wave has forced the makers to postpone the release of their film.## Actor Tovino Thomas took to Instagram to make the announcement. The post went on to say, "We regret to announce that 'Naradan' movie release has been postponed due to the surge of Covid 19 infections and complications caused by the Omicron".## The political thriller, which has music by Sekhar Menon, has cinematography by Jaffer Zadique.## The film, which was originally scheduled to be released in April last year, got postponed due to the second wave of Covid. Kerala Police Register Non-Bailable Case Against Actor Dileep

Thiruvananthapuram, Jan 9 (JANS) Kerala Police has registered a non-bailable case against Malayalam superstar Dileep, his brother Anoop, his brother-in-law Sooraj and other family members. The case was registered following a revelation by a close friend of the actor and Malayalam movie director Balachandra Kumar.## Dileep was arrested in 2017 and lodged in a prison in a case related to a gang sexually assaulting a front-line heroine of South Indian movies and filming the scenes. Police later tracked the gang to Dileep and the actor was arrested in July 2017 and jailed. After two months in jail, he was released on bail and the trial in the case is on.## Balachandra Kumar who has recently fallen out with Dileep had told Police that the actor is in possession of a few clips of the female actor who was sexually assaulted.## On Sunday Deputy SP of Kerala Police Biju Paulose who was the investigating officer lodged a complaint with the Kerala police stating that Balachandra Kumar has deposed that Dileep while watching a YouTube video at his home of former Aluva Rural district police superintendent, A.V. George said that he would do away with the officer as well as other four officers who were responsible for arresting him.## He, according to the deposition of the director, had said that he would cut and remove the right hand of Superintendent of Police Sudarshan who had allegedly assaulted him during police custody. The director also said that one of the accused had told Dileep that for this he will have to spend Rs 1.5 crore for a gang of rowdies who can be engaged for the job.## The Malayalam Superstar, according to Balachandra Kumar also openly said that Kerala DGP, B. Sandhya, ADGP Sreejith, SPs A.V. George, and S. Sudarshan, and Dy SP Byju Paulose are on the list of officers who would be attacked and done away with.## Police registered an FIR against Dileep and his relatives and investigations are on.## Stay tuned...

Basil Joseph's idea of filmmaking is to evolve and challenge himself

Mumbai, Dec 31 (IANS) Filmmaker Basil Joseph's filmmaking process involves exploring and learning new things at every step. ## The 'Minnal Murali' director believes in making constant additions to his repository of skillset. ## Basil says: "I always try to learn new things and to upskill. You cannot just stand somewhere and make movies with that limited knowledge. I am someone who didn't have a lot of exposure before coming into movies. I come from a very conservative family, I started watching movies only after I got into movies. I stand in an industry where my peers are so intelligent and excellent in terms of their knowledge, craft and skills about movies." ## Defining Malayalam cinema as a competitive space, he says: "It is a very competitive Industry because Malayalam cinema is now known everywhere and they are creating content every week which is working out around India. It's a very constructive competition which goes on. ## "When I look upto my peers, I see Dileesh Pothan, Mahesh Narayanan, Sameer Thahir, Shyju Khalid, Shyam Pushkaran, Lijo Jose Pellissery, for me to be there, it's imperative for me to constantly evolve." ## Breaking down the climax of the film in technical terms, he shares: "For our climax shoot, our action director, Vlad Rimberg conceived the action sequence without much use of ropes, cranes or a lot of props. We depended a lot on shot division and edits." ## He lauds his crew for believing in the shared vision and working to the best of their potential. ## "All the crew has come up together to give an extra effort to make it look grounded within the budget so that it looks real." ## "The art director, Manu Jagadh; the cinematographer, Sameer Thahir and even VFX supervisor, Andrew came up with the idea which make it look real and practical. Noted Malayalam film and TV actor G.K. Pillai dead; he was 97

Thiruvananthapuram, Dec 31 (IANS) Malayalam actor G.K.Pillai, who was famous for playing the villain in action films and for performing stunts without using body doubles, passed away on Friday. He was 97 and died because of an age-related illness. ## After spending 13 years in both the Army and the Navy, Pillai retired from the military and launched his illustrious career in Malayalam cinema with the film 'Snehaseema' in 1954. He acted in more than 325 films and later ventured into television, where he was active till two years ago. ## A hugely respected actor, Pillai's baritone voice was his distinguishing feature and it won him many roles and several film awards. He also dabbled in politics and was seen frequently in Congress party circles. ## He is survived by six children. His wife had predeceased him. 'Minnal Murali' teleports to UAE, film's AV montage lights up Ain Dubai

Mumbai, Dec 25 (IANS) The audio-visual montage from Tovino Thomas-starrer 'Minnal Murali' was recently displayed at the Ain Dubai observation wheel. ## Ain Dubai, which is located on Bluewaters Island, is known as the world's largest observation wheel. ## Tovino, who plays the titular superhero in the film, took to his Instagram and shared a video of the same with the film's team enjoying the beam show. He wrote in the caption, "This video is proof that Minnal Murali can take you for a HUGE spin. Minnal Murali, now streaming in Malayalam, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Hindi and English." ## The film, which was released on Friday, has garnered a positive response from the audience and critics alike. ## Talking about the response to the film, director Basil Joseph said: "Hard work always pays off, and I am so glad our labour of love is being appreciated by the audience.
