Box Office: OMG 2 Second Monday Early Estimates

Mumbai, August 21 - Akshay Kumar's social comedy-drama OMG 2 has a drop of around 70% today on its second Monday which is a bit higher but the overall collection remains decent considering various factors.## Directed by Amit Rai, OMG 2 scored an estimated 3.75 crores net collection on its second Monday/11th day. This takes the total collection to around 117.50 crores net to date. The trend in multiplex centers is strong while mass centers continue to perform low for the movie.## OMG 2 will reach around 125 crores net mark by the end of the second week. The movie will have additional competition in the coming weekend in the form of Dream Girl 2, however, it should be able to retain maximum screens, especially in multiplexes.## It will be interesting to see if OMG 2 can go near the 150 crores mark as that should be its target from now on. Box Office: Gadar 2 Second Monday Early Estimates

Mumbai, August 21 - Gadar2 has shown a good hold on its second Monday as the early estimate collections suggest 14 crores net and might go higher which remain to see. The hold today confirms that the film is going to have another super strong run this week also. ## The second Monday collections will take the total collections of Gadar 2 to 389 crores net which is all-time 4th highest in Hindi. Gadar2 will be the second film from the Hindi film industry to cross the benchmark of 400c net. Earlier Pathaan rewrote history by collecting more than 500cr net box office mark. Other than these, we have two south imports Bahubali2 and KGF2 which crossed the 400cr net mark.## The hold on Monday was very crucial for Gadar2 to reach the 500cr net number. Mumbai, August 20 - OMG 2 has a very good second weekend, dropping just around 30% from the first weekend which is a fantastic hold. The movie scored a jump of around 20% on its second Sunday from the second Saturday collection. ## The early estimate suggests a second Sunday/10th-day collection of OMG 2 around 12.50-13 crores net which takes the total collection to over 114 crores net. The second-weekend collection is over 29 crores net which is one of the highest for a mid-budget Bollywood movie this year.## OMG 2 has been excellent in multiplex chains as the majority of its collection has come through those chains while smaller centers continue to remain low due to the domination of Gadar 2. The low performances in single screens have reduced OMG 2 to around its current total otherwise it could have easily around 150 crores net by now. Box Office: OMG 2 First Thursday Early Estimates

Mumbai, August 17 - Akshay Kumar's social comedy-drama film "OMG 2" sees a drop of around 35% on its first Thursday. The drop was expected considering the movie is coming after a long holiday period, however, the drop is slightly on the higher side. ## The early estimates suggest the first Thursday collection of the movie in the range of 5.25 crores net which takes the total collection of the movie to over 84.50 crores net in the full first week. The multiplexes continue to drive the biz while smaller centers remain dull due to Gadar 2. ## "OMG 2" will be targeting 22+ net collections in the second weekend which will take its total collection to over 100 crores net. It has emerged as a clean hit and the hold during the second week will decide how long it can go at the box office. ## The film has had a couple of major challenges in its way which has affected its biz big time. Firstly, the movie is "A" rated, and secondly, it was released with a volcano like "Gadar 2" which is going bonkers at the box office. Box Office: Gadar 2 First Thursday Early Estimates

Mumbai, August 17 - Gadar 2 records its first drop on its first Thursday but the overall collection continues to remain solid after a very strong as early estimates suggest in the range of 22.50 crores net which is a very good number as these numbers are coming after the film has already consumed 250cr plus worth of audience. There is a drop in the multiplexes but the single-screen cinemas continue to drive the film. The first Thursday numbers will take the total collections of the film to around 284 crores net which is an extraordinary collection and better than the lifetime collections of major blockbusters of the last decade or so. The first week collections of around 284 crores will be the second-highest first week of all time after Pathaan which comfortably crossed the 300cr net box office mark. This 284 cr net first week has come in a clash with OMG2 so on fair value the film would have crossed the 325cr net mark easily had it released solo like Pathaan or KGF2.## The key from here is the numbers on the second Friday is tomorrow and the hold on the second Monday. These days will determine the lifetime collections of the film or give an idea about that. The target is huge to chase with Pathaan sitting at the top as the highest-grossing film ever though 500cr net looks well within the range for Gadar2. ## Gadar2 has emerged as the all-time blockbuster and the biggest hit of the year at the box office. Sunny Deol has delivered some of the biggest blockbusters ever in the form of Betaab (1983), Ghayal (1990), Border (1997), and Gadar (2001) and these were the biggest hits of their respective years. Director Amit Rai Reveals How Akshay Kumar's Courage Saved 'OMG 2'

Mumbai, August 17 - The sequel to Akshay Kumar and Paresh Rawal-starrer 2012's film "Oh My God - OMG" was finally released on August 11, 2023, and against all odds, it is set to emerge a big success. Directed by Amit Rai, "OMG 2" features Akshay as Lord Shiva in an extended appearance while this time, Pankaj Tripathi takes the central role with Yami Gautam.## "OMG 2" has had its own struggle story before hitting cinemas. The makers had to fight an internal battle with the censor board as board members were initially not willing to grant a censor certificate to the movie. However, after continued efforts, the movie got censored but not the way the makers would have liked. It was granted an "A" rating (18+ only) while the team wanted "U/A" which was denied.## During a recent interview with ETimes, Amit Rai said that he is still trying to convince the censor board members to change their decision and give the movie "U/A" certificate. He also revealed that he took some intelligent steps to save the film from so many cuts for which, the VFX team worked continuously to make certain changes. ## Censorship issues aside, Amit Rai revealed that "OMG 2" would have never been made had Akshay Kumar not backed it. The movie deals with sex education in India and it has been given a religious angle to convey the message. Rai said that due to its subject, filmmakers like Karan Johar, Ashutosh Gowariker, Sony Pictures, and others had rejected the script and it was on the verge of getting shelved.## After many filmmakers rejected it, Akshay Kumar came forward and showed the courage to back it. "He was very open to the script and said that the film needs to be made. Because of him, we're still standing strong otherwise 'OMG 2' wouldn't have got made. I met Ashwin Varde, Vipul D Shah, and Rajesh Bahl and through them, I reached Akshay Kumar. If I hadn't managed to reach him, the script would have remained in some corner", the filmmaker said.## Produced by Akshay's Cape of Good Films, Viacom18 Studios, and Wakaoo Films, "OMG 2" is going strong at the box office and scored approx. 108 crores gross collection worldwide in just 6 days. Ayushmann Khurrana's 'Dream Girl 2' CBFC Certificate And Theatrical Run Time Revealed

Mumbai, August 16 - Director Raaj Shaandilyaa and actor Ayushmann Khurrana return with the sequel to their 2019's super hit comedy-drama film "Dream Girl". Ananya Panday is the female lead this time, replacing Nushrat Bharucha from the original movie. ## "Dream Girl 2" is scheduled to release on August 25 and this is the best bet for Ayushmann Khurrana as far as the box office prospects are concerned. Meanwhile, the movie has been certified with a "U/A" certificate by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) with an approved runtime of 2 hours and 13 minutes.
