Avatar Fire and Ash Box Office: James Cameron's Film Tops $1.20+ Billion Worldwide; Heads For 250 Crore Finish In India

Mumbai, January 12 - James Cameron's Avatar: Fire and Ash continues its dominant run at the global box office, topping the $1.23 billion mark through the 4th weekend. The sci-fi spectacle has once again proven the unmatched big screen appeal of the Avatar franchise, emerging as one of the biggest global releases of 2025. In North America, the third instalment in the Avatar franchise continues to put up good hold, hitting $343 million so far. While the numbers are lower than The Way of Water, the sustained weekend holds underline solid audience interest and premium format demand across the US and Canada. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) International markets have driven the film's big global total, with overseas collections now standing at $888 million. China remains the largest market outside North America, with $150 million, followed by France ($91.7 million) and Germany ($73.7 million). In India, Avatar 3 has performed steadily despite strong competition from local releases. The film has already grossed around 225 crore ($25 million) by the end of its 4th weekend, making it the 10th biggest international market for the film. It is heading towards finishing around 250 crores in India as one of the biggest Hollywood grossers in the country. Avatar 3 is projected to finish its run with $420+ million at the domestic box office, and $1.5+ billion globally. The previous two Avatar movies went on to top $2 billion globally, and even though the third film is unlikely to breach that milestone, it is still a mega hit for Disney. Stay tuned...

Stranger Things 5 Box Office: Final Episode of Netflix's Sci-Fi Series Made $25+ Million On Limited Screening

Los Angeles, January 2 - Netflix may have, once again, left a lot of money on the table by not giving one of its most popular series, Stranger Things 5, a proper theatrical release. The final episode of this sci-fi show was released on December 31st, with limited fan screenings across North America. In October this year, Netflix announced that the final episode of Stranger Things would be having fans screenings in the domestic market. The finale was set to screen in just over 350 theatres across the U.S. and Canada on December 31, 2025, and January 1, 2026, but due to increasing demand, the number jumped to 620+ theatres. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) Technically, there are no box office numbers for these screenings. Because of residual and distribution complications tied to TV series, theatres are charging seat reservation fees (around $20 at AMC), which are then converted into concession vouchers. So, there were no ticket sales via a traditional online platform, so the actual grosses are unknown. However, according to the trade estimated figures, over 1.5 million reservations were made for the Stranger Things finale, and with a $20 million average ticket price, or a reservation fee, it could mean at least $25 million and upto $30 million in just 1 and a half days, and that too, despite the series being availble on streamer with no extra cost. By comparison, 20th Century Studios' Avatar: Fire and Ash, the No. 1 grossing film of the season, made a combined $23.7M over New Year's Eve and New Year's Day. Netflix has been a hardcore anti-cinema OTT platform, and because of its stubborn approach, trade has time and again said that the streamer has been leaving plenty of money it could have made by releasing its movies or shows on the big screens. Zootopia 2 Box Office (China): Breaks A Major Record for Hollywood by Selling $100+ Million Tickets

Mumbai, January 1 - Disney's Zootopia 2 is rewriting history for Hollywood at the Chinese box office with an extraordinary theatrical run that very few foreign films have ever managed to achieve. The animated sequel has crossed a landmark that places it in an elite club dominated by only the biggest global blockbusters. According to trade estimates, Zootopia 2 has sold over 100+ million tickets in China, making it the first Hollywood film since Titanic (1997) and only the 8th film ever to cross the 100 million admissions mark in a single market. This historic feat highlights the film's unexpected and unprecedented reach among Chinese audiences. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) The animated juggernaut has already grossed $560+ million in China, firmly establishing itself as one of the highest-grossing Hollywood films of all time in the territory. The film continues to draw massive footfalls, an extremely rare phenomenon for imported releases in recent years. The record-breaking run is particularly significant given Hollywood's recent struggles in China, where local productions have largely dominated the box office. Zootopia 2 has managed to buck that trend entirely, emerging as a cultural event rather than just a successful release. Zootopia 2 is heading towards finishing at $575+ million in China, as the second highest-grossing Hollywood title in the country after Avengers: Endgame ($632 million). At the worldwide box office, the film has topped $1.45 billion, becoming the third biggest animated film of all-time (excluding The Lion King), and the biggest-grossing Disney animated film. Tom Cruise's Space Movie Cancelled: Here Is Why

Mumbai, December 30 - Hollywood superstar Tom Cruise has reportedly cancelled his space movie, which he was supposed to film in outer space, under the direction of Doug Liman, who previously directed the actor in American Made and Edge of Tomorrow. Tom Cruise had been preparing for a sci-fi movie, in an attempt to shoot it in outer space. But according to the latest report by Page Six, the film has been cancelled after Cruise reportedly refused to ask for President Donald Trump's help in its production. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) As reported earlier, for Cruise to film in space, he and director Liman needed to collaborate with NASA for the project. However, the actor would have had to ask a favour of President Trump to make it happen, which the actor didn't want to do. The untitled movie was announced in 2020 and was supposed to start by now. It was set to be made with both NASA and SpaceX's involvement to ensure it could be shot into space. However, the federal government, and specifically the President, would have needed to sign off on the plan, which Cruise didn't want to. Meanwhile, Cruise has been working on multiple projects. Earlier this year, he wrapped filming on a new black comedy directed by Alejandro G. Iñárritu and is also reportedly in talks with Paramount to work on the third Top Gun movie. Stay tuned...

James Cameron's Avatar Becomes the First Movie Trilogy to Surpass $6 Billion Globally After Thunderous Response to Avatar: Fire and Ash

Mumbai, December 29 - James Cameron's sci-fi epic Avatar franchise has scripted a historic moment at the box office, becoming the first movie trilogy ever to cross the $6 billion mark worldwide, after the thunderous response to the latest instalment, Avatar: Fire and Ash. The milestone has been achieved through the combined earnings of Avatar (2009), which grossed $2.92 billion (including re-release runs), Avatar: The Way of Water (2022), which scored $2.34 billion and Avatar: Fire and Ash (2025), which has so far grossed $760 million. Each chapter of the Pandora saga has been a massive theatrical event, drawing audiences across continents and setting new benchmarks for cinematic spectacle and scale. The original Avatar remains the biggest box office juggernaut of all time, having redefined global cinema with its groundbreaking 3D technology and immersive world-building. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) Its sequel, The Way of Water, further cemented the franchise's legacy by emerging as another multi-billion-dollar blockbuster, proving that the magic of Pandora had not faded even after more than a decade. The newly released Avatar: Fire and Ash has now pushed the trilogy past the historic $6 billion milestone, despite the continued doubts over the franchise's future. The film has opened to a strong global start, registering impressive numbers across North America, Europe, and key Asian markets, including India. With $760 million through the second weekend, Avatar 3 is already among the biggest grossers of the year and is heading towards the $1 billion mark this week. As Avatar: Fire and Ash continues its theatrical run, the franchise's total is expected to climb even higher. With more Avatar films already in the pipeline, the Pandora saga shows no signs of slowing down, reinforcing its status as one of the most successful and influential film franchises in cinematic history. Avatar Fire and Ash Box Office: James Cameron Film Tops $750 Million Worldwide; Nears $20 Million In India

Mumbai, December 28 – James Cameron's sci-fi epic Avatar: Fire and Ash continues its strong global run at the box office. The third instalment in the blockbuster Avatar franchise has crossed the $750 million mark worldwide through the second weekend, racing towards the coveted billion-dollar club. After opening to massive numbers across key international markets, Avatar: Fire and Ash has shown impressive consistency at the ticket windows. While the film may not match the record-shattering pace of Avatar (2009) or Avatar: The Way of Water, its current trajectory indicates a long and steady theatrical run. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) Avatar 3 has grossed $217.70 million at the domestic (North America) box office, while its overseas gross is $542.70 million, for the worldwide cume total of $760.40 million at the end of the second weekend. In India, the James Cameron directorial is also putting up solid numbers. The film is nearing the $20 million mark, having already scored 168 crores ($18.70 million) after 10 days. Despite facing stiff competition from major Indian releases, Avatar: Fire and Ash has emerged as the highest-grossing Hollywood film of the year in the country so far. Avatar: Fire & Ash is heading towards $1 billion by this week. It is projected to gross $400+ million domestically and $1.5+ billion worldwide. Avatar Fire and Ash Box Office: James Cameron's Sci-Fi Film Becomes Biggest Hollywood Grosser of 2025 In India in 7 Days

Mumbai, December 25 - Director James Cameron will once again top the Indian box office as Avatar: Fire & Ash has become the highest-grossing Hollywood movie of 2025 in the country in flat one week. Earlier, the maverick filmmaker topped the Hollywood charts in India in 2022 with Avatar: Way of Water, which grossed nearly 500 crores. The third instalment in Cameron's sci-fi epic Avatar franchise grossed approximately 116.50 crores till Wednesday (6 days), and it is looking to collect 15+ crores gross on day 7 to close the first week at 131+ crores. With this, it will cross F1 Movie's 129 crores gross total to become the biggest foreign film of the year in India. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) Avatar: Fire and Ash had a good yet underwhelming opening of 23+ crores gross, mainly because of Dhurandhar's box office dominance. However, the Hollywood biggie has not maintained a steady trend, but also weathered the Dhurandhar storm to carve its own path at the box office to score a good collection. The film has benefited from positive word of mouth and the popularity of the franchise so far, and the momentum is expected to continue through the holiday frame. It will look to reach near 200 crores gross at the end of the second week, and then, it is all about how well it holds up going ahead. Stay tuned...

Avatar Fire and Ash Box Office: James Cameron's Film Debuts With $345 Million Worldwide

Mumbai, December 22 - It has been more than a decade since James Cameron's Avatar franchise kicked off in 2009, and it still carries that fire when it comes to the box office as the latest instalment - Avatar: Fire and Ash just broke the bank at the worldwide weekend box office. The third film in Cameorn's planned 5-part sci-fi epic has one of the biggest openings for a 2025 title, even when it couldn't match the opening of its predecessor - Avatar: Way of Water. Touted as the darkest chapter of the franchise yet, Fire and Ash delivered a worldwide opening weekend of $347.30 million. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) Avatar: Fire & Ash has had the third biggest global opening of 2025, behind only Zootopia 2 ($560.30 million) and China's animated title Ne Zha 2 ($431.20 million). In comparison to the other Avatar movies, the latest instalment lands in between Avatar ($232 million) and Avatar: Way of Water ($441.70 million). The film's domestic (North America) opening weekend lended at $89.20 million, which took a big dip from Way of Water's $134.10 million launch but better than the original Avatar's $77 million debut. Overseas, the film minted $258.10 million, against Way of Water's $307.60 million. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) China was the biggest international market for the film in its opening weekend, with $57.6 million, followed by France with $21.4 million, and Germany with $18 million. In India, the sci-fi epic debuted with $9.2 million (82+ crores gross) over the 3-day weekend, which is a good collection but significantly down from Way of Water's 157 crore gross opening weekend. Avatar films are known for their longevity at the global box office, and the trade is already on the job to understand how far it can go. While the trade is ruling out the $2 billion club, the movie is still expected to make $1.5+ billion worldwide, which is roughly 4x its budget. Stay tuned...

Avatar Fire And Ash Box Office: James Cameron's Sci-Fi Projected To Open With $350 Million Worldwide

Mumbai, November 18 - Releasing amid the burden of massive expectations, James Cameron's Avatar: Fire and Ash has begun its international rollout on Wednesday, and the final box office projections suggest that the film is heading to open between Avatar and Avatar: Way of Water worldwide. According to Variety, Avatar 3 is poised to open with $90 million to $105 million from 3,800 theatres at the domestic box office, while it is expected to collect another $250 million to $275 million internationally for a global opening weekend between $340 million to $365 million. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) For the record, the original Avatar opened to $232 million worldwide in 2009, while Way of Water debuted with $441 million. So, if the projection holds, Avatar Fire and Ash are set to open between two of the highest-grossing films worldwide. There is a lot of pressure on Fire & Ash to deliver at the box office as each of the previous two films of this sci-fi franchise grossed well over $2 billion. It is worth remembering that Avatar films, apart from opening to big numbers, are known for their incredible staying power at the box office. Avatar debuted to $77 million domestically and held onto the No. 1 spot for seven weeks, eventually climbing to $760 million in North America and $2.92 billion worldwide (including re-runs). It is currently the highest-grossing film ever globally. Avatar 2 debuted with $134 million in North America, and went on to gross $688 million and $2.3 billion worldwide. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) It needs to be seen how Avatar: Fire & Ash will perform over the weeks and follow the same path as its predecessors. If the film manages to stay true to the franchise's staying power, Avatar could become the first film franchise in history with three instalments to earn above $2 billion. Currently, it is tied with MCU's two $2 billion mega hits, 2019's Avengers: Endgame and 2018's Avengers: Infinity War. In India, Avatar 3 is scheduled to release on December 19 in multiple languages. The advances for the movie are decent here, with projections suggesting 30+ crores ($3.5+ million) opening day. Avatar: Way of Water opened to nearly 50 crores gross in 2022, and went on to gross around 500 crores in its lifetime run. Stay tuned...

Zootopia 2 Box Office: Disney Animation Sequel Storms Past $1 Billion Worldwide

Los Angeles, December 13 - Walt Disney Animation Studios' Zootopia 2 has officially crossed $1 billion at the worldwide box office, becoming only the third movie of 2025 to do so after the fellow studio's live-action animated blockbuster Lilo & Stitch and Chinese mega animated hit Ne Zha 2. The sequel to 2016's buddy cop comedy, Zootopia, zoomed past the $1 billion mark at the worldwide box office on Friday after just 17 days in release. With this, it has become the fastest PG-rated film ever to unlock the milestone, beating all previous Hollywood films. It is also the 5th Disney movie to cross $1 billion mark in the last 18 months. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) While the official third Friday collection is yet to be released, Zootopia 2 grossed $986.10 million, including $232.7 million domestically and $753.4 million overseas through Thursday. It also marks the first back-to-back billion-dollar blockbuster for Walt Disney Animation Studios, following last year's Moana 2. "This milestone means the world to us, because more than anything, it means audiences are coming to theaters for a shared experience of watching this movie on the big screen, everyone together, from all walks of life around the world, and that is a Zootopia dream come true", Jared Bush, chief creative officer at Walt Disney Animation Studios, said in a statement (as per THR). It opened to $158 million in North America and $559 million globally over the five-day holiday weekend, which was the biggest ever opening for an animated movie worldwide and 4th biggest overall. Netflix Co-CEO Clears The Air Over Theatrical Window of Warner Bros. Movies

Mumbai, January 17 - Amid growing speculations in Hollywood, Netflix co-CEO Ted Sarandos has addressed concerns surrounding the theatrical future of Warner Bros. movies should the merger move forward. His clarification comes at a time when industry stakeholders, particularly exhibitors, have been wary of streaming giants shortening theatrical windows. Speaking about Netflix's approach, Sarandos made it clear that Warner Bros. films would continue to enjoy a proper theatrical run, in line with current industry standards. He stressed that Netflix has no intention of bypassing cinemas or rushing films to streaming, adding that the company recognises the financial and cultural importance of the box office ecosystem. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) According to Sarandos, the widely followed 45-day theatrical window remains the preferred model for big studio releases, including Warner Bros. titles. Emphasising Netflix's competitive mindset, he noted that the company wants its films to succeed in cinemas, stating that winning at the box office is just as important as performing well on streaming platforms. The clarification is significant, as speculation had intensified over fears that Netflix might adopt a much shorter theatrical window if it gained greater control over Warner Bros. content. Sarandos's comments are being viewed as a reassurance to filmmakers, theatre owners, and audiences that the traditional theatrical experience will not be compromised, even as streaming continues to play a major role in the global film industry. Avengers Doomsday Trailer/Teaser: Marvel Studios' Film Racks Up 1 Billion Views Worldwide Across Four Teasers

Mumbai, January 17 - Marvel Studios has once again demonstrated the unmatched pull of the Marvel Cinematic Universe as the teasers for Avengers: Doomsday have racked up 1 billion views worldwide across digital platforms. According to the reports, the studio is happy with the extraordinary response without revealing anything about Doctor Doom, played by Robert Downey Jr. The 1 billion views milestone has been achieved through a series of four short teaser videos released over the past few weeks on YouTube, Instagram, TikTok and X (formerly Twitter), underlining the enormous anticipation surrounding the next Avengers event film. The teasers focused on the return of some of the OG Marvel heroes. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) The teaser campaign has followed a unique rollout strategy, with the first glimpse of Avengers: Doomsday debuting exclusively in theatres before making its way online. Subsequent teasers spotlighting key corners of the MCU, including legacy Avengers, the X-Men, Wakanda and the Fantastic Four, further fueled fan excitement and drove massive engagement on social media. Crossing the 1 billion view mark so early in the marketing cycle is a strong indicator of renewed audience enthusiasm for the Avengers franchise, especially after a relatively quieter phase for the MCU at the box office. The response also highlights the power of nostalgia and crossover storytelling, with fans eager to see multiple Marvel teams converge on the big screen once again. Mumbai, January 8 - The year 2025 was a landmark for IMAX, which officially delivered the best year in its history, setting a new record at the global box office in 2025. The premium large-format exhibitor earned a massive $1.28 billion worldwide, marking a 40% jump over 2024 and underlining the growing audience demand for immersive, event-scale theatrical experiences. The milestone year was powered by a strong and diverse slate of blockbuster releases, spanning Hollywood tentpoles, animation, anime, and international hits. From high-octane action spectacles to visually rich fantasy films, IMAX continued to position itself as the go-to format for must-see cinema. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) Leading the record-breaking year for IMAX was China's Ne Zha 2, which emerged as the year's highest-grossing IMAX title with $167 million. James Cameron's Avatar: Fire and Ash reaffirmed the franchise's dominance on the premium screens with $112 million, while F1: The Movie, Mission: Impossible, and Demon Slayer delivered strong results with nearly $100 million each. Zootopia 2 Box Office: Becomes Biggest Hollywood Grosser In China, Beating Avengers Endgame

Mumbai, January 5 - Disney's animated buddy cop comedy film Zootopia 2 has scripted history at the Chinese box office by becoming the highest-grossing Hollywood movie of all time there, overtaking Marvel Cinematic Universe's long-standing record holder, Avengers: Endgame. The sequel to Zootopia (2016), Zootopia 2, in local currency, has grossed ¥4.250 billion, edging past Avengers: Endgame, which had finished its China run at ¥4.249 billion. However, in terms of dollars, the MCU blockbuster remains the number one Hollywood title, with $632 million, compared to $607 million for the animated blockbuster. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) Hollywood titles had been struggling in China in the post-COVID era, before Zootopia 2 changed the fate by not only breaking the COVID curse, but also went a step ahead to become the biggest Hollywood blockbuster in the country. Earlier, the biggest Hollywood title in China since the health crisis was Avatar: Way of Water with $240+ million. Meanwhile, at the worldwide box office, Zootopia 2 has topped $1.6 billion, including $364 million domestically (North America). It is the highest-grossing Hollywood movie and the second highest worldwide of 2025, behind China's Ne Zha 2, which grossed $2.2 billion. Zootopia 2 is projected to finish its run with $1.8+ billion. Avatar Fire and Ash Box Office: James Cameron's Sci-Fi Film Tops $1 Billion Worldwide

Mumbai, January 4 - James Cameron has once again proven why he is regarded as one of the biggest box office architects in cinema history. The legendary director's latest sci-fi spectacle, Avatar: Fire and Ash, has crossed the $1 billion mark at the worldwide box office, adding yet another monumental achievement to the filmmaker's illustrious career. Avatar: Fire and Ash becomes the 4th movie of 2025 and the 60th film ever to reach the $1 billion milestone globally. What makes the achievement even more impressive is the pace at which it was achieved. The film hit the landmark in just 18 days, making it the 10th fastest movie in history to enter the billion-dollar club. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) For James Cameron, billion dollar milestone is far from unfamiliar territory. The director has an unparalleled track record when it comes to delivering blockbusters. His previous films, Titanic, Avatar, and Avatar: The Way of Water, all went on to shatter box office records and comfortably crossed the $1 billion mark, with Avatar and Titanic still ranking among the highest-grossing films of all time. With Fire & Ash entering the prestigious box office club, James Cameron has become the first director ever to cross the 1 billion mark 4 times. The film's strong performance has been driven by exceptional overseas numbers, with markets like Europe, Latin America, and Asia contributing significantly. India has also emerged as a key territory, where the film has already posted blockbuster figures ($22+ million), further strengthening its global total. The sustained holiday run and premium format dominance have ensured minimal drops during weekdays, helping the film reach the milestone at record speed. Stay tuned...

Avatar Fire and Ash Box Office: James Cameron's Film Tops 200 Crore Gross In India

Mumbai, January 3 - James Cameron has done it again! The director's Avatar: Fire and Ash continues its solid run at the Indian box office, emerging as a success story for Hollywood in the country. The sci-fi spectacle has crossed the 200 crore gross mark in India, cementing its place among the biggest foreign films ever released in the market. Avatar 3 tops 200 crores gross in India on its 16th day, and with this milestone, it has become the first Hollywood film of 2025 and sixth of all-time to enter the 200 crore gross club. Interestingly, the last film to enter this prestigious box office club was Avatar: Way of Water (2022), which is also the biggest Hollywood grosser in India with nearly 500 crores gross collection. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) The film has enjoyed a strong and consistent run across regular and premium formats, with metros leading the charge, while mass circuits have also contributed steadily. What makes this achievement even more special is that it was up against multiple Indian releases, including Dhurandhar. James Cameron's Avatar franchise has once again proven its dominance in India, following the legacy of Avatar (2009) and Avatar: The Way of Water. The latest instalment's performance further reinforces India's importance as a key overseas market for large-scale Hollywood tentpoles. With weekdays holding firm and weekends continuing to deliver solid numbers, Avatar: Fire and Ash is expected to add more milestones in the coming days, strengthening its status as one of the biggest Hollywood box office successes in India. Avatar Fire and Ash Box Office: Tops 100 Crore Gross In India In 5 Days

Mumbai, December 23 - Director James Cameron's Avatar: Fire and Ash had a good hold on Monday at the Indian box office. The sci-fi epic grossed nearly 11 crores, pushing its 4-day total to 92.50 crores gross (76 crores net) in India. The third instalment had a good opening weekend given the circumstances, but as compared to Avatar: The Way of Water, the opening was a bit underwhelming with 82 crores gross. As said, the film's collection was affected by Dhurandhar, which is clearly dominating the box office at the moment. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) However, Avatar 3 managed to hold nearly 50% collection on its opening day on Monday, which indicates positive word of mouth and popularity of the Avatar franchise. On Tuesday, the film is showing good hold again, and will top 100 crores gross mark at the end of the day. With the Christmas and New Year holidays ahead, Avatar 3 should hold well in the coming days. Strong footfalls in premium formats such as IMAX and 3D played a key role in driving collections, with metro cities contributing heavily to the overall numbers. Fire & Ash is likely to finish its opening week in the range of 125+ crores gross, which is a good total. The trade is optimistic that the movie will continue to perform decently, even though it will fall well short of Way of Water, which nearly grossed 500 crores in India. Stay tuned...

Avatar Fire and Ash Box Office: The Sci-Fi Epic Tops 50 Crore Gross In 2 Days In India

Mumbai, December 20 - James Cameron's long-awaited sci-fi spectacle Avatar: Fire & Ash, the third instalment in the blockbuster franchise, opened to an underwhelming response at the Indian box office. The film collected 23.25 crore ($2.6 million) on its opening day, which is nearly half of what Avatar: The Way of Water earned on Day 1 in India in 2022. The film's opening day box office potential was cut short by Ranveer Singh's Dhurandhar, which is currently dominating the box office. Fire & Ash needed a big jump on its second day to remain competitive. While the figures are well below the franchise's previous benchmark, the film did manage a decent growth of around 15% on Saturday, offering some relief. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) There were doubts whether the film could register an upward trend after its not-so-good start, especially with Dhurandhar continuing its rampage at the box office, and it did. According to early estimates, Avatar: Fire & Ash earned in the range of 27 crore on Day 2, pushing its total India gross past the 50 crore mark. In comparison, Avatar: The Way of Water had amassed 100 crore within its first two days in India, placing the latest instalment about 50% behind at the same point. The opening weekend is now expected to close at around 75+ crore gross, a respectable figure by conventional standards, but undeniably underwhelming considering the legacy and expectations attached to the Avatar franchise. Note - Data without 3D charges. With 3D charges, the 2-day collection of Avatar 3 is around 54 crores gross. Stay tuned...

Avatar Fire and Ash Box Office: James Cameron's Epic Opens To Half of Avatar Way of Water's Collection In India

Mumbai, December 20 - James Cameron's highly-awaited sci-fi action adventure Avatar: Fire & Ash debuted at the Indian box office on December 19, but it couldn't ignite fire on its opening day, landing 50% less than its predecessor, Avatar: Way of Water. Back in 2022, Way of Water had a monstrous start at the Indian box office, grossing close to 50 crores in all versions. Fire and Ash was carrying good hype and was expected to land in the same range, which didn't happen. Ranveer Singh's Dhurandhar proved to be a big obstacle as it continued its blockbuster on the third Friday. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) As per early estimates, Avatar 3 has grossed approximately 23.25 crores ($2.6 million) on its opening day at the Indian box office. While the numbers are no means less for a foreign title, it is definitely underwhelming for the franchise, considering the immense popularity it has generated over the years, and also for director James Cameron. The initial word of mouth for the film is decent, but as said, it is up against a volcano like Dhurandhar, which is clearly overshadowing other titles at the moment. Fire & Ash is expected to see some momentum over the weekend, but it will be tough for it to see bigger jumps due to Dhurandhar. Stay tuned...

Avatar Fire and Ash Box Office (Advance Booking): Sci-Fi Epic Heads To Open Lower Than Avatar Way of Water In India

Mumbai, December 15 - James Cameron's sci-fi epic Avatar: Fire & Ash is heading to take a good start at the Indian box office, but is likely to fall short of the opening of its predecessor, Avatar: Way of Water. The second instalment opened to nearly 50 crores gross in 2022, which is the second biggest opening for a Hollywood film in India. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) Avatar 3 advances opened 10 days ago in India in IMAX before the regular bookings kicked off a couple of days ago. As of Monday afternoon, the film's pre-sales are trailing behind 60% of The Way of Water for the opening day, with 4 days to go for release. This is, however, better than any other Hollywood release this year. If the current momentum continues till the release day, then Fire & Ash is likely to open in the range of 30-35 crores gross in India. There is Ranveer Singh's Dhurandhar, which is running riot at the box office, likely to make a dent in Fire & Ash's biz, particularly in North India. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) The immense popularity of the Avatar franchise is expected to bring in a big crowd, but unlike Way of Water, the upcoming film is up against a box office juggernaut called Dhurandhar, which will pose a big challenge. As the film nears its release on December 19, word of mouth will be key for its longevity at the box office. In the film, a year after settling in with the Metkayina clan, Jake and Neytiri's family grapples with grief after Neteyam's death. They encounter a new, aggressive Na'vi tribe, the Mangkwan clan, also called the Ash People, led by the fiery tribe leader, Varang, who has allied with Jake's enemy, Quaritch, as the conflict on Pandora escalates to devastating consequences. Zootopia 2 Box Office create MAYHEM globally; Sequel set to cross USD 1 Billion mark tomorrow on a USD 150M budget

The dynamic duo of the Zootopia Police Department (ZPD) has officially arrested the global box office! Disney’s highly anticipated animated sequel, Zootopia 2, is witnessing a historic run in theaters. After a thunderous opening during the Thanksgiving weekend, the film has refused to slow down. According to the latest tracking reports from leading Hollywood trade analysts, the film is on the verge of a massive milestone. It is confirmed that Zootopia 2 will cross the colossal USD 1 Billion (approx. INR 8,400 Crore) mark globally by tomorrow (Friday), achieving this feat in record time. What makes this achievement even more jaw-dropping is the film's return on investment. Reports indicate that Zootopia 2 was produced on a reported budget of USD 150 Million. By breaching the billion-dollar mark, the film has already grossed nearly 7 times its production cost in just over two weeks of release. This level of profitability is rare and cements Disney Animation's return to its golden era of box office dominance. (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({}) The sequel, directed by Jared Bush and Josie Trinidad, has resonated with audiences of all ages. While fans are loving the return of Ginnifer Goodwin (Judy) and Jason Bateman (Nick), the new addition to the cast has been a scene-stealer. Academy Award winner Ke Huy Quan, who voices Gary (the creepy-crawly snake featured prominently on the poster), has received rave reviews. The introduction of the "Marsh Market" and the reptiles has expanded the world of Zootopia, drawing repeat audiences to premium formats like IMAX and 4DX. With this achievement, Zootopia 2 becomes the second film in the franchise to cross the billion-dollar threshold, following the footsteps of its 2016 predecessor, which grossed USD 1.02 Billion. It also marks another massive win for Disney in 2025. As the film gears up for the holiday season push, trade experts predict it won't just stop at a billion—it is now chasing the records of the highest-grossing animated films of all time.
