Arun Vijay's Much Awaited 'Borrder' Sets October 5, 2022, Release Date

Chennai, August 28 - Actor Arun Vijay's long-awaited spy action thriller Borrder is finally coming to the big screen after getting delayed for more than a year. Directed by Arivazhagan Venkatachalam, "Border" will hit worldwide theaters on October 5, 2022, on the occasion of Vijayadashami. ## The announcement of the film's release date was made on August 27 with a new poster. The movie has huge expectations riding on it as the combination of director Arivazhagan and actor Arun Vijay has managed to deliver back-to-back successes.## The actor and director first collaborated on the medico-crime thriller "Kuttram 23", which became a super hit. The recently-released web series "Tamil Rockerz" again saw the director and actor working together. As a result of having delivered successful projects back-to-back, expectations from their next film together have gone up.## "Borrder" was supposed to hit the screens in the summer of 2021. However, due to the covid-19 pandemic, the makers were left with no choice but to delay the shoot. It was later scheduled to release in theatres on 19 November 2021 but due to floods in Chennai the release was postponed. ## The film stars Arun Vijay, Regina Cassandra and Stefy Patel, revolves around patriotism. Chiyaan Vikram Takes A Dig At Boycott Movies Trend During 'Cobra' Promotion

Hyderabad, August 28 - Tamil star Chiyaan Vikram is super busy with the promotions of his upcoming action thriller film Cobra, scheduled to release on August 31 in Tamil and Telugu. After the wide promotional tour across Tamil Nadu, the Cobra team promoted the film in Hyderabad today (August 28). ## During the Telugu press meet, Chiyaan Vikram was asked to comment on the ongoing boycott trend of movies, especially Bollywood films on social media. Vikram takes a dig at this boycott trend and answers funnily even though there is no boycott trend running against his movie. ## "I know about the boy. I know about the cot. What is this Boycott? Disha Patani Officially Confirmed To Star Alongside Suriya In 'Suriya 42'

Chennai, August 27 - Tamil superstar Suriya has joined hands with director Siva for his next film, tentatively titled Suriya 42. The movie was formally launched a couple of days ago with the Pooja ceremony, organized by the producers of the movie, UV Creations, and Studio Green. ## Meanwhile, the makers of "Suriya 42" released a video of the Pooja ceremony which officially confirmed Disha Patani as the female lead opposite the "Soorarai Pottru" star. Chiyaan Vikram's 'Dhruva Natchathiram' To Release In December 2022?

Chennai, August 25 - Tamil star Chiyaan Vikram's last theatrical film was "Kadaram Kondan" in 2019, and since then, he has had only one release in the form of "Mahaan", and it was direct to release via Amazon Prime Video in February this year. ## Chiyaan Vikram is now gearing up for his big screen comeback with the upcoming movie "Cobra", scheduled to release on August 31. It is not the only film of him releasing in theaters this year as filmmaker Mani Ratnam's magnum opus, "Ponniyin Selvan: I", in which he is playing the role of a prince Aditya Karikalan, is also scheduled for September 30. ## While the aforementioned films are confirmed to release, if all goes well, the actor could have his third theatrical release this year. According to reports, Vikram's long-awaited "Dhruva Natchathiram" is progressing to release in December this year. The film has had its trouble in completing the shoot and finally, there is some movement regarding this one. ## It is said that after promotional work for Cobra and Ponniyin Selvan, Chiyaan Vikram will be shooting for the pending portions of "Dhruva Natchathiram" as the makers have decided to release it this year itself. Filmmaker Mani Ratnam Reveals The Story Behind The Making of His Dream Project 'Ponniyin Selvan'

Chennai, July 9 - The teaser of filmmaker Mani Ratnam's highly-anticipated Ponniyin Selvan Part 1 was unveiled on July 8. Based on Kalki Krishnamurthy's 1955 novel of the same name, the movie is Mani Ratnam's dream project which he has been trying to make since the 1980s. ## During the teaser launch event, the filmmaker revealed the story behind the making of the film which will be made in two parts. He said that before finally succeeding, he attempted this mega project thrice, once in the 1980s, then in 2000, and for the third time in 2010. Several people had also tried to make eminent writer Kalki's epic novel into a film but couldn't succeed. ## "I first read this book when I was in college. Almost 40 years have passed. It's not left my heart until now. My first thanks go to Kalki", Mani Ratnam said at the grand teaser launch event organized by the makers at the Chennai Trade Centre on Friday. ## "Makkal Thilagam M.G. Ramachandran should have acted in this film. After Nadodi Mannan, he was to act in this film. But somehow, that didn't happen. It is only today that I got to know why he was not able to act. He has left it for us to make. Several people have tried to make Kalki's epic novel Ponniyin Selvan into a film. I myself have tried thrice - once in the 1980s, once in 2000, and once in 2010. Therefore, I know what a big responsibility this is", he added. ## "That is because it is loved by everybody who has read it. They are an authority on it. They own it, and they are very possessive about it. So, when I did this film, I said to myself. 'I am also like them. I own it, I am also possessive about it and I will do it the way I want to do it.' Dhanush Collaborates With Director Arun Matheswaran For A Pan India Movie, Captain Miller

Chennai, July 2 - Actor Dhanush has collaborated with director Arun Matheswaran ("Saani Kaayidham", "Rocky") for a Pan India movie, Captain Miller. The period action-adventure movie will be produced by Sendhil Thyagarajan and Arjun Thyagarajan under the banner of Sathya Jyothi Films. ## "Captain Miller" will be set in the Madras Presidency of the 1930s and 40s. Director Arun Matheswaran told the Times of India that he had written this film way back in 2018 and had also narrated it to Dhanush, however, it couldn't take place at that time. Later in 2019, the project began to take shape again, says Arun. ## Arun's "Rocky" and "Saani Kaayidham" were intense and dark which catered the adult audiences. The director has confirmed that the upcoming movie will be different, intended for a mainstream audience. "This one will be a UA film as there is going to be a lot of action. In fact, the second half will have war sequences", Arun added. ## Dhanush will be sporting three different looks in the movie and the character will also have two more names, confirmed by the director himself. "The story unfolds over 15 years of this character's life, so I knew that he'd capture the different timelines of a person's life very well. There's action and a range of emotions, and I felt that he'd pull it off the best", Matheswaran said about roping Dhanush in the movie. ## The makers have roped in celebrated artists for the movie. Shreyas Krishna ("Rocky", "Jagame Thandhiram") will be handling the cinematography while Nagooran is the editor. "Sarpatta Parambarai" fame Tha Ramalingam has been roped in as the art director while Poornima Ramaswamy, who won the National Award for her work in "Paradesi", is the costume designer of the film. GV Prakash Kumar will be composing the music. ## The movie will be shot in real locations across the country as the shooting will commence soon.
