Blockbuster 'Padmaavat' Sets Re-Release Date
Mumbai, January 22 - Director Sanjay Leela Bhansali's 2018 mega-blockbuster historical drama Padmaavat is all set to re-release in cinemas on January 24, the makers announced officially on Wednesday. ## Padmaavat is based on the epic poem of the same name by Malik Muhammad Jayasi. It stars Deepika Padukone as Rani Padmavati, a Sinhalese-born Rajput queen, wife of Maharawal Ratan Singh, played by Shahid Kapoor. Ranveer Singh played the villain as Alauddin Khilji. ## Rani Padmavati was known for her beauty and when Khilji heard about her beauty, he attacked her kingdom to enslave her. To protect the dignity and honour from the hands of Khilji and his army, Padmavati along with her companions committed Jauhar (self-immolation) thereby defeating Khalji's aim. ## Padmaavat, produced by Bhansali Productions, was a huge box office success in its original run with a worldwide gross collection of 585 crores, including 400 crores gross domestically.
