Box Office: Re-Release Run Helps 'Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani' To Top 200 Crore Net Collection
Mumbai, January 10 - Bollywood stars Ranbir Kapoor and Deepika Padukone's 2013 blockbuster romantic-comedy Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani has had a superb first-week collection at the domestic box office upon its re-release on January 3rd.
Directed by Ayan Mukerji, YJHD opened with approximately 1.15 crores net collection and followed it with a good jump on Saturday and Sunday to score around 2.25 crores and 3 crores net collection, respectively for 6.40 crores net opening weekend.
The movie remained rock solid during the weekdays and minted approximately 6 crores net from Monday to Thursday for around 12.50 crores net, which is the second biggest first week for a Bollywood re-release after Tumbbad which scored 13.15 crores net last year.
The superb first-week re-release collection of YJHD has helped it to enter the 200 crores club. In its original run, the film earned 188.60 crores net. With this, it has become the 43rd Hindi film to cross double century. It is the 4th film of Ranbir Kapoor and 5th for Deepika Padukone to achieve the feat.
YJHD is showing a very good trend and is sure to do well during the Sankranthi weekend. Depending on how new films perform, it may finish with 25+ crores net which is a fantastic total for a re-issue title.
