Prasidh Krishna And Suryakumar Yadav Earn Maiden Call-Ups As Team India Squad For England ODIs Has Been Announced

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has announced the Indian team squad for the 3-match ODI series against England. Prasidh Krishna, Karnataka pacer, has been handed his maiden India call-up along with Suryakumar Yadav, who recently made his India debut in the T20I series against England and Krunal Pandya. ## Krishna will join the likes of Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Mohammed Siraj, T Natarajan, and Shardul Thakur in the pace department. Jasprit Bumrah, who recently got married, is missed out after being on an extended leave. Mohammed Shami and Ravindra Jadeja have also not included in the squad as they are yet to fully recover from their injuries. ## The All-India Senior Selection Committee, led by Chetan Sharma has picked a full packed batting unit with Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan, Shubman Gill, KL Rahul, and Shreyas Iyer have all been included along with Rishabh Pant in the squad. FWICE Issued A Non-Cooperative Notice Against Gauhar Khan For Flouting Quarantine Rules

After Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) filed a complaint against Gauhar Khan, the actress seems to have invited more trouble as the Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE), an umbrella body of over 32 film industry unions, on Tuesday issued a non-cooperative directive against Khan for allegedly flouting quarantine rules after testing positive for the coronavirus, the Scroll.in reported. ## According to the notice against Khan, FWICE has asked all Indian cinema associations linked to the federation to "distance themselves" from Gauhar for the next two months till a fresh directive was issued, permitting her to resume work in the industry.## In a press release on Tuesday, the Cine body "highly condemned" the actress's alleged actions, and said it was "indeed a serious offense". It said that the actor had not only breached the rules issued by the central and the state government but had also endangered the lives of the entire crew members who were working with her on the shoot.## "Such ignorance will not be tolerated by the FWICE and it thanks the BMC and Mumbai Police for the FIR lodged against Ms Gauahar Khan, actress Mumbai for her inhuman, disrespectful act towards the other crew members as well as the government", the union added.## "Any members if found cooperating with Ms Gauahar Khan shall also be liable for stringent disciplinary action by the FWICE", it added.## FWICE President BN Tiwari told The Indian Express (according to Scroll.in) that because of Khan's unprofessional, non-cooperative and irresponsible actions, the whole cast and crew from the project she was shooting for will have to be quarantined and work will be halted.## Stay tuned...

Amid the rise of OTT platforms in India and many filmmakers opted to release their content directly on streaming platforms because of the covid-19 pandemic, director Sanjay Gupta has once again reiterated his love for theaters. Known for his high-octane action films, the filmmaker said he has never thought of making content for OTT and asserted his films are only made for the big screen. ## "I do not work on OTT. I am not even looking at the platform. My focus has been the big screen and on what will appeal to people sitting in a closed environment, on people who make an effort to go to watch the film", he told IANS.## Mumbai Saga, which is directed by Sanjay Gupta, will be hitting theaters this Friday (March 19). The John Abraham and Emraan Hashmi starrer delayed for almost a year due to the pandemic and just like the other films, the speculation of its direct-to-digital release had also started making noise. However, Sanjay was the one who always committed to Mumbai Saga's theatrical release which is happening now. ## For Gupta, shooting "Mumbai Saga" has been quite an adventure for him due to the pandemic as there was a lot of uncertainty out there. ## "This has been an experience unlike any in my entire career. There has been a lot of uncertainty. At one point of time, it was like a life-and-death situation as there were portions to be shot and the pandemic had peaked. We completed shooting the film right in the middle of the peak. We sat on the film for six months after that".## "But somebody had to come forward among the bigger films, so we decided to go ahead and release the film. The advantage that we have over the other biggies is that our budget is not that huge. It is a calculated risk. By coming to the theatres we may not make money, but we will not lose money", he said.## However, he adds that filmmakers like him are making an effort to ensure films get a good theatrical release and making sure that Mumbai Saga gets as many screens as it can. Though he is not sure about the footfalls and has no expectations about how many people will go to theaters to watch the film. The recently released 'Roohi' showing a good trend if not as good as it was a pre-covid era. Bollywood superstar Salman Khan's "Radhe: Your Most Wanted Bhai" is all set to release on May 13 this year. After being delayed for almost a year, the actioner finally is debuting in theaters on the occasion of Eid. In between the proven stars, Radhe marks the acting debut for Arjun Kanungo, who, after proving his worth as a singer-songwriter, is all excited to prove his mettle as an actor in the biggie upfront. ## "The film is done I am still nervous. It was much more difficult than I imagined it to be, and I remember I was very nervous on the first day. Even thinking about it makes me nervous right now. But I have to say Salman (Khan) sir and (director) Prabhudeva sir were very encouraging. They helped me a lot. Everyone has been complimenting me, but I am nervous", Arjun told IANS as quoted by India TV.## Kanungo has had a successful career as a singer-songwriter and after the initial jitters, the 30-year old has produced blockbuster songs. Now, the young star is looking forward to starting his next journey as an actor and said that he is keen to see the audience's reaction to his acting. ## "There's this whole pre-conceived notion that singers don't make good actors. I am nervous to see how the audience will react and if they will support my acting career. I want to see if the audience will get over that bias", he told IANS.## It's not like Kanungo decided to pursue acting after becoming a popular singer-songwriter. He said that acting has always been on the cards, for that, he even joined a year-long acting course at the Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute in New York, roughly seven years back, after finding to difficult to make a career in music.## However, when he came back to India in 2014, some of his cover songs had done really well on Youtube and that led Sony Music to approach him and signed him as an artist. Seeing a huge opportunity to work with such a big music label, Arjun jumped on to it which shaped his career. ## Then in 2019, he got a call that might change his life.## "It was Salman sir who called me and wanted me to act. He called me to his house in the middle of the night, and I remember Prabhu sir was there. It was just an incredible feeling to be there and work on a project like this with such big names attached to it", he says.## "I am excited to see it on a big screen and really excited to know how the audience reacts. The entire experience was hectic, but I really enjoyed being a part of it," he says hoping, quite obviously, that the film opens up opportunities for him as an actor", Arjun signed off adding that he will be pursuing acting as his primary focus from now on. ## Stay tuned...

It was her 11th Grammy. ## Comedian and talk show host Trevor Noah is hosting this year's Grammys. It marks Noah's first time hosting the award ceremony. Marvel Congratulates Avatar Team For Reclaiming The Crown Of Highest Grosser Movie Of All Time

It didn't take too long for James Cameron's groundbreaking sci-fi epic, "Avatar" to reclaim the title of the highest grosser movie of all-time after surpassing Disney/Marvel's "Avengers: Endgame". "Avatar re-released in China this weekend and collected around $12.30 million (according to Deadline) on first two days, and now, it has been confirmed that Cameron directorial has once again topped the world chart of the highest grosser movie ever. ## Disney now puts Avatar's worldwide gross at an estimated $2.802B versus Endgame’s $2.797B. Avatar, which now falls under the Disney umbrella after the Fox acquisition, first became the top-selling global release of all time in 2010 when it passed Cameron's own 1997 Titanic. In July 2019, Endgame overtook Avatar — and now the latter is back on top.## Avatar producer Jon Landau said today as quoted in Deadline, "We are proud to reach this great milestone, but Jim and I are most thrilled that the film is back in theaters during these unprecedented times, and we want to thank our Chinese fans for their support. The leading streaming platforms are having tough times in dealing with new content from the last couple of months. After a controversy over the Tandav series, Amazon Prime Video was recently directed by the Bombay High Court to take down the Telugu movie, "V" over a complaint filed by actress Sakshi Malik. ## Now, Netflix has also become a subject to streaming objectionable content. This time, an Indian government agency for protecting child rights has asked Netflix to immediately stop streaming its new drama series "Bombay Begums" after it reviewed complaints around scenes showing children consuming drugs. ## In a letter to Netflix on Thursday, the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) asked the streaming giant to investigate the matter and submit a report within 24 hours or face further action. The NCPCR notice referred to a tweet where a user objected to a scene showing "minors having cocaine".## "The series with this type of content will not only pollute the young minds of children, and may also result in abuse and exploitation of children", the NCPCR notice said.## Released this week, "Bombay Begums" is a series about five women from different parts of society trying to get ahead in modern Mumbai, formerly called Bombay. 'Avatar' Overtake 'Avengers: Endgame' To Reclaim The Title Of Highest Grosser Movie Of All Time

'Avengers: Endgame', that released about 18 months ago, did wonder at the box office and became the highest grosser movie of all-time with $2.797 billion, in a record time of 3 months due to unprecedented demand that may never again be replicated. However, the time has come for Avengers: Endgame to handover its title of "highest grosser of all-time" to the previous holder, James Cameron's groundbreaking sci-fi epic, "Avatar". ## "Avatar", that released in 2009, was the highest grosser movie for almost a decade until "Endgame" took the worldwide box office by storm in 2019. But on Friday, "Avatar" returned to movie theaters in China, which is witnessing a massive boom post-Covid there, and grossed $3.5 million (according to Variety), pushing its total haul to a historic $2.7926 billion. After this weekend, "Avatar" is expected to take back the top box office prize.## Heading into Avatar's re-release this weekend in China, Avengers: Endgame stood at $858.37M domestic, $1.939 billion overseas for a total of $2.797 billion total. Avatar's grosses stood at $760.5M, $2.029 billion foreign, and $2.789 worldwide.## Though "Avatar" was released by 20th Century Fox, Disney now owns the property after the companies merged in 2019. With Disney's acquisition of Fox's film assets, the Walt Disney Company houses eight of the 10-highest grossing movies.## On the other hand, James Cameron has been working busily on the sequels, returning to production last May in New Zealand on part 2 as Covid cases calmed there. Disney has scheduled Avatar 2 for Dec. 16, 2022; part 3 for Dec. 20, 2024; part 4 for Dec. 18, 2026; and part five for Dec. 22, 2028.## Stay tuned...
