It has now crossed Marvel Studios' Avengers: Infinity War at the domestic (North America) box office. ## Directed by Joseph Kosinski, "Top Gun 2" grossed a strong $1.6 million on its 13th Friday, pushing total domestic cume to $679.1 million, and with this, it has surpassed "Avengers: Infinity War's" $678.8 million lifetime collection to become the 6th highest-grossing film of all-time at the North American box office. ## The sequel to Cruise's "Top Gun" (1986) is looking to score over $5 million in its 13th weekend as it is hoping to finish over a $700 million domestic lifetime run.## Highest-grossing films in North America (without inflation) - ## 1. Hyderabad, August 20 - Telugu mystical action-adventure film, Karthikeya 2 is on a dream run at the box office. The movie, starring Nikhil Siddharth in the title role, had a limited release but went on to outshine other new releases to become a massive blockbuster within a week. ## "Karthikeya 2" was released on Saturday (August 13) and opened to super positive reviews and word of mouth. It scored 5.04 crores net on the first day and went on to finish the first full week (7 days) with approx. 36 crores net, including both Telugu and Hindi languages.## The movie was valued at approx. 13 crores worldwide and it has already scored over 28 crores Share the collection, including 18.7 crores share in Telugu states (AP/TG). It became the highest-grossing film for actor Nikhil in just 4 days and there is not stopping it at the moment. ## Meanwhile, the dubbed Hindi version of the movie is showing no sign of taking a back seat. The Hindi version opened with just 7 lakh on the first day but thanks to positive word of mouth, it grew exponentially throughout the first week and never dropped at once in the first 7 days. It closed the full opening week scoring 2.46 crores net. The total Hindi net collection is 8.21 crores.## The growth of film in the Hindi language can be understood by the number of shows it added over the week. It was released on just 55 shows by the 7th day, it had over 3000 shows and is increasing rapidly with each passing hour. In addition to under its further growth, K2 outscored outright Bollywood biggies, "Laal Singh Chaddha" and "Raksha Bandhan's" combined total yesterday (August 19). ## The worldwide gross total of "Karthikeya 2" is approx. 50 crores, including 7 crores at the overseas box office. Over the years, there have been rumors about the third film in the series but there was no actual development towards the making of National Treasure 3. ## While the hopes for the third film in the franchise were still there, Nicolas Cage, during a Reddit AMA thread, had almost silenced those hopes by saying that there would be no more "National Treasure 3" movie. But, months after what Cage had said, things have changed and all of sudden, the future of the National Treasure film franchise is looking bright. ## Producer of the "National Treasure" film franchise, Jerry Bruckheimer has good news regarding the third film as he has confirmed that the script of "National Treasure 3" has been written and it is really good. During an interview with comicbook, Bruckheimer said that they will be sending the script to Cage soon. ## "Let's hope we're working on the script right now. Hopefully [Cage] likes it, but it's really good. So I think we'll get it to him shortly", Bruckheimer told.## The first two National Treasure films - "National Treasure" (2004) and "National Treasure: Book of Secrets" (2007) - were successful at the box office, grossing over $806 million (without inflation) against the combined budget of nearly $200 million. ## Meanwhile, the tv series titled "National Treasure: Edge of History" is already under development at Disney Plus. It is a continuation of, the National Treasure film series and will mark the return of both Justin Bartha as Riley Poole and Harvey Keitel as Peter Sadusky from the two National Treasure movies. Even though Mani Ratnam always wanted to make PS for the big screen, he said that Rajamouli showed the way with Baahubali that such films can be made and be successful in two-part. ## "I want to Thank SS Rajamouli Garu. In a way, he has opened up the doors for all of us that this kind of film (PS) can be made and he has shown us that it can be done in two parts like you can tell a story in 2 parts and be successful. PS1 is possible today because of Bahubali", the filmmaker said. ## PS1, produced by Ratnam and Allirajah Subaskaran under Madras Talkies and Lyca Productions, is the first of two cinematic parts based on Kalki Krishnamurthy's 1955 novel Ponniyin Selvan. Box Office: Laal Singh Chaddha And Raksha Bandhan Collect Below 100 Crores Combined In The First Week

Mumbai, August 19 - Bollywood superstars Aamir Khan and Akshay Kumar's Laal Singh Chaddha and Raksha Bandhan, respectively have completed an extended opening week at the box office and numbers are something that industry had never thought about. ## The combined collection of both the films is around 90 crores net, which is not even close to what trade had predicated before the release. ## "Laal Singh Chaddha", which is the remake of the Hollywood classic hit "Forrest Gump", has been a bigger disappointment as its first-week collection (~ 50 cr) couldn't even cross the opening day numbers of Aamir Khan's last film "Thugs of Hindostan" which scored 50.75 crores net in 2018. ## Directed by Advait Chandan, the overseas collection of the film is somehow respectable with close to 50 crores gross (not final) but the domestic box office is forgettable, to say the least. The negativity around the film before its release also played a massive role in its disastrous fate even though the reception for the film was mixed. ## On the other hand, Akshay Kumar-fronted "Raksha Bandhan" too couldn't get going despite the positive word of mouth. The stakes for the film were low but it still performed underwhelmingly, especially knowing the fact that it has a perfect holiday period to outshine the underfire LSC. As a result, RB scored approx. 39 crores net while the overseas collection is approx. 8 crores, for the worldwide gross total of the film at 54 crores after 8 days. ## The Bollywood industry has now pinned its hopes on the next big release, which is director Ayan Mukerji's magnum opus "Brahmastra Part 1: Shiva". Scheduled for September 9 in multiple languages, the film features an ensemble cast including Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Amitabh Bachchan, Nagarjuna Akkineni, and Mouni Roy along with the cameos of Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone. ## Stay tuned...

Chennai, August 19 - Russo Brothers spy action thriller, The Gray Man, which marks Dhanush's Hollywood debut, has become the 4th most-watched film of all time on Netflix. The overall response, however, has been underwhelming to the movie considering the star power it is carrying. ## "The Gray Man" scored 21.16 million viewing hours in its 4th week (Aug. 8 - Aug. 14). The total viewing hours of the movie now reached 245.09 million in 24 days, ahead of "The Adam Project" (233.16M). Currently, "Red Notice" is the most-watched film on Netflix with 364.02 million viewing hours in the first 28 days, followed by "Don't Look Up" (359.79M), and "Bird Box" (282.02M) at number 2 and 3, respectively. ## "The Gray Man" needs another 37 million viewing hours to become 3rd most-watched film on the streamer in 4 days, which is looking unlikely with the response it is getting. Nonetheless, the movie still managed to finish in the top 5 despite the mixed reviews and the high budget of the film ($200M) will surely make Netflix be careful with its future films. ## Produced by the Russo brothers' company, AGBO, it is the first film in a franchise based upon Greaney's Gray Man novels. The film focuses on the CIA agent Court Gentry, who is on the run from sadistic mercenary Lloyd Hanson upon discovering corrupt secrets about his superior.## The movie stars Ryan Gosling, Chris Evans, Ana de Armas, Jessica Henwick, Regé-Jean Page, Wagner Moura, Julia Butters, Dhanush, Alfre Woodard, and Billy Bob Thornton in key roles. Mumbai, August 19 - Amazon Prime Video is all set to launch its biggest series yet The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, scheduled for September 2. The series had its premiere in Mumbai on Tuesday as the entire cast of it was present. ## Bollywood superstar Hrithik Roshan attended the premiere and also interacted with the LOTR cast at the event organized by Prime Video. During his interaction with the star cast of the series, Hrithik revealed that it was the "Lord of The Rings" trilogy that inspired his father Rakesh Roshan to make India's original sci-fi superhero film series "Krrish". ## "He was talking about the way they've used this one great incredible idea and then had this progression which was so incredible and [asked] 'why can't we do that?'", said Roshan.## "He said 'why can't we take 'Koi... Mil Gaya' - which is one of our previous films - 'and have a progression and build on that' - and that was the birth of 'Krrish'", Roshan revealed. "If there was no 'Lord of the Rings', there'd be no 'Krrish'".## "Krrish" is India's first superhero film franchise and there have already been three films in it. "Krrish 4" is currently in the scripting stage and is likely to go on floors by the end of the next year. The actor will headline director Ranjit M Tiwari's Cuttputlli, which is the official remake of the Tamil hit "Ratsasan". ## "Cuttputlli" will be released directly on Disney Plus Hotstar on September 2. The makers, on Friday, released the first look teaser of the film along with a release and trailer date announcement. The teaser is a collection of Akshay's still from the movie, a crime thriller about the hunt for a serial killer.## Akshay plays a cop who is on a mission with his men to nab the culprit and adopts a different strategy to accomplish it.
