Mumbai, July 13 - The first half of 2023 has been good for the Indian entertainment industry which delivered some hugely successful movies and web shows. IMDb, an online database of information related to the entertainment industry, released a list of the most popular Indian movies of the year (so far) earlier in the day which saw the dominance of the Bollywood titles. ## IMDb has now revealed the list of the top 10 most popular Indian web series of the first half of 2023 and it is also dominated by the Hindi streaming titles. Shahid Kapoor, Vijay Sethupathi, and Raashii Khanna's black comedy crime thriller Farzi, which is the most-watched web series of all time in India, also topped IMDb's most popular list, in terms of page views. ## Aditya Roy Kapur and Anil Kapoor's crime thriller The Night Manager, which serves as a remake of the British television series "The Night Manager" (2016) based on John Le Carre's novel of the same name, is the second most popular Indian web title of the year so far. ## Rana Naidu, which stars Venkatesh Daggubati, and Rana Daggubati, takes the third spot among the most popular titles on IMDb this year. It is the official adaptation of the 2013 crime TV series, "Ray Donovan". Mumbai, July 13 - IMDb, an online database of information related to the entertainment industry, has unveiled the list of the top 10 most popular Indian movies in the first half of 2023, and the list is topped by superstar Shah Rukh Khan's all-time blockbuster Pathaan.## Directed by Siddharth Anand, "Pathaan" was released in January and went on to become one of the highest-grossing Indian movies of all time with a worldwide gross collection of around 1050 crores. It was hugely hyped and has been the most loved Indian movie of the year, as far as the page views are concerned on IMDb. ## Salman Khan's Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan, which grossed an underwhelming around 185 crores at the worldwide box office, is the second most popular Indian movie of the year so far. Mumbai, July 12 - Hollywood superstar Tom Cruise's latest blockbuster "Mission Impossible: Dead Reckoning - Part One" has taken a very good start at the Indian box office despite a mid-week release. ## The 7th installment of the "Mission Impossible" franchise had good pre-sales for the opening day as well as the weekend. On its opening day/first Wednesday, the movie scored an estimated 12-13 crores net in all versions, which is the biggest opening for a Tom Cruise-led tentpole. ## The English 2D format is leading the opening day collection which was expected due to the higher showcasing. Meanwhile, the English IMAX 2D format, despite the limited showcasing, has done really well to collect around 1 crore net with an average occupancy of 55%. ## The Hindi version is the second-best contributor as has always been a case of Hollywood movies. The overall opening of "MI 7" is very good and the prospects for the 5-day opening weekend look bright as the initial audience word of mouth is super positive. Mumbai, July 11 - The much-awaited sequel to producer Dinesh Vijan's blockbuster horror-comedy "Stree" has commenced filming today in Chanderi. Shraddha Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao return to reprise their roles along with Pankaj Tripti, Aparshakti Khurrana, and Abhishek Banerjee from the first movie. ## The makers announced the commencement of the shoot today with a twist in the plot of "Stree 2". While Stree, played by Flora Saini, brought chaos in the life of Chanderi's people, this time Stree will come to save them from the terror of a head-cutter as the villagers call for "O Stree, protect us".## Amar Kaushik returns to direct the sequel, produced by Vijan's Maddock Films. Raj & D.K., who wrote the screenplay of the first film, are not a part of the movie. The film is a part of Maddock Films' horror-comedy universe which kicked off with "Stree" (2018), followed by "Roohi" (2021) and "Bhediya" (2022). "Stree 2" will feature Varun Dhawan's cameo as Bhediya. ## It is said that the sequel will be heavy on VFX and the makers have collaborated with the same team which done the VFX of Varun Dhawan and Kriti Sanon's "Bhediya". It has so far grossed 80.60 crores domestically and an estimated 21 crores at the overseas box office to push the total worldwide collection to 101.60 crores. ## SPK has become the 5th movie of Kartik Aaryan after "Sonu Ke Titu Ki Sweety", "Luka Chuppi", "Pati Patni Aur Woh", and "Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2" to breach the 100 crores gross club globally while it is Kiara's 7th movie after "M.S. Mumbai, July 10 - National-award winning filmmaker Sanjay Puran Singh Chauhan's latest film "72 Hoorain" has had a low opening weekend at the box office as the movie could score approx. 1.25 crores net in three days. ## Starring Pavan Malhotra and Ameer Bashir in lead roles, "72 Hoorain" was hit by controversy even before its release as a section accused the makers of hurting religious sentiments through the movie. CBFC granted the movie 'A' certificate. ## Unlike "The Kerala Story", this kind of controversy failed to hype up "72 Hoorain" as the movie almost went unnoticed at the box office in the opening weekend.
