Gadar 2 Crosses 300 Crores And OMG 2 Hits 100 Crores Gross At The Worldwide Box Office

Mumbai, August 16 - Independence Day week brings joy to the Indian film industry, especially to Bollywood as two of the long-awaited films "Gadar 2: The Katha Continues" and "OMG 2" emerged as big box office winners. Both the movies have together brought in approximately 355 crores gross over a 5-day weekend at the domestic box office.
Gadar 2, starring Sunny Deol, has been sensational so far with its day-wise trending. After taking an excellent start of 40.10 crores net, the movie remained rock solid in the following days and eventually scored two 50+ crores net days. On Independence Day, the scored its biggest day with 55.40 crores net which is also the all-time biggest collection on this particular holiday.
"Gadar 2" minted a huge 228.98 crores net (270.20 crores gross) collection, which is the all-time second highest cume net collection for a Bollywood movie in the first 5 days. At the overseas box office, the period action drama film has grossed an estimated 28 crores, for a total worldwide cume of 298.20 crores gross. It has crossed 300 crores mark in the first shows of day 6 and becomes only the 4th Bollywood film of the year to do so.
Akshay Kumar, Pankaj Tripathi, and Yami Gautam-led OMG 2 has also done really well over the extended 5-day Independence Day weekend, considering the blockbuster clash. Directed by Amit Rai, "OMG 2" left with very less chance to score outside non-multiplex chains due to Gadar 2-mani, but still, the social comedy-drama managed to score a very good 72.27 crores net (85.30 crores gross) collection.
The overseas collection of "OMG 2" is an estimated 14 crores gross which takes the total worldwide gross cume to approx. 99.30 crores. The movie has crossed the 100 crores gross mark in the first shows of day 6 and emerged as a clean hit. The movie will also be entering the 100 crores net club, mostly by Saturday.
