Mumbai, July 5, 2021: Actress Taapsee Pannu is on the film signing spree. She already has several films in the pipeline across languages in form of Dobaaraa, Looop Lapeta, Annabelle Subramaniam, Shabaash Mithu, among others. The Thappad actress has reportadly signed one more film recently with BA Pass and Section 375 director Ajay Bahl. ## While the official confirmation is yet to be made, Taapsee's film with Bahl is said to be a Hindi remake of the 2010 Spanish horror thriller, Julia's Eyes, directed by Guillem Morales. Mard Ko Dard Nahi Hota actor Gulshan Devaiah has also been roped in to play one of the male leads in the film that is expected to roll out from 20th July in Nainital. ## According to reports, Taapsee will be stepping into the shoes of Belen Rueda and play a visually impaired twin sister in this mystery drama while the details of Gulshan's character have been kept under wraps. Ajay Bahl is re-writing the script with other writers keeping the Indian audience in mind, and they said to make some changes in the script. ## Taapsee will reportadly be playing the role of a woman who's suffering from degenerative eye disease in this yet-untitled thriller. Defined as a fascinating, broken-backed picture full of riveting twists and dubious psychology, the film tells the story of a woman who's slowly losing her sight whilst trying to investigate the mysterious death of her twin sister. ## Producer Pranjal Khandhdiya (Mango Purple Media Network) who's backing Taapsee's upcoming sports drama Rashmi Rocket will be producing it in association with Zee Studios. Mumbai, July 4, 2021: Yesterday on July 3, Bollywood superstar Akshay Kumar and renowned director Priyadarshan met on the set of Akshay's upcoming film, Raksha Bandhan. The duo even shared a picture of themselves having a laugh discussing something. While they didn't reveal why they met, their fans speculated that their meeting is going to bring them together for the first time since Khatta Meetha (2010). ## Well, those speculations are really coming true as the iconic actor-director duo is reuniting after a decade for a comedy film with emotions. Akshay and Priyadarshan have previously collaborated and gave superhit films such as Hera Pheri, Garam Masala, Bhool Bhulaiyaa, Bhagam Bhaag, De Dana Dan, and Khatta Meetha. ## According to reports, the movie was supposed to begin this year, but due to the covid-19 pandemic, it is now expected to go on floors early next year. The movie is said to have an out-and-out comedy film with emotions towards the climax. The director has reportadly locked the basic script, but to give it a final touch, he will continue to work on it until it started rolling out. ## Contrary to the reports of doing Hera Pheri 3 or remake of South film, the director reportadly confirmed that it is an original script which is being given the final touch. The movie is said to be produced by Akshay Kumar along with a top producer of the industry. ## Meanwhile, Priyadarshan is currently in Mumbai and gearing up for the release of his next Hindi film, Hungama 2 featuring Paresh Rawal, Shilpa Shetty, Pranitha Subhash, and Meezaan Jafry. The comic caper is gearing up for a digital premiere on Disney+Hotstar on July 23. She was best known for Dance Form Mujra and the first woman choreographer in Bollywood. She also worked as a writer for 12 Hindi films including Khiladi (1992), Hum Hain Bemisaal (1994), Dil Tera Diwana (1996), among others.## The 71-year old won several awards for her choreography including three National Film Awards for Best Choreography. Gulshan Kumar Murder Case: The Bombay High Court Acquits Tips' Owner Ramesh Taurani From All Chargers

Mumbai, July 1, 2021: The Bombay High Court today delivered the judgment in the murder case of T-Series owner, Gulshan Kumar, who was brutally killed in broad daylight on August 12, 1997. Ramesh Taurani, the owner of the music label Tips Industries Limited, was one of the accused with music director Nadeem Akhtar Saifee (of Nadeem-Shravan fame) in the case. ## Taurani was charged with allegedly conspiring with Saifee by hiring Dubai mafioso Abu Salem to carry out the murder. He was also charged for paying Nadeem a sum of Rs 2.5 million to carry out the execution. Taurani was arrested by Bombay's crime branch for 'abetting' music magnate Gulshan Kumar's murder but was later granted bail after being imprisoned. ## Five years later, in 2002, the sessions court dropped all charges against him. After his acquittal in the lower court, the State of Maharashtra then appealed in the High Court which has now been dismissed by the court after 19 years when a division bench of Justices Sadhana Jadhav and NR Borkar delivered a judgment today (July 1) and acquitted him from all chargers. ## Taurani called it a triumph of the truth after he got relief in the Gulshan Kumar murder case. "The appeal has been dismissed and my family and I happy and relieved. I was expecting the verdict. I had to go through a long ordeal that was not required. It has been almost 25 years and I have gone through a lot of trouble. I got my acquittal in 2002 but since then there have been so many appeals. The sessions court had given a detailed order so I felt that it was unnecessary to bring it up in the High Court. The judiciary is already burdened so I believe this was stretched too far", Taurani said (via News 18). ## Meanwhile, the Bombay High Court upheld the conviction of Abdul Rauf Merchant in the murder case. He was an aide of gangster Dawood Ibrahim and was sentenced to life imprisonment in 2002 for Gulshan Kumar's murder in 1997. While delivering the judgment in the Gulshan Kumar murder case, the high court bench noted that Abdul Rauf Merchant had "criminal antecedents".## The bench said, "He is not entitled to remission as he absconded right after his arrest. He was released on furlough in 2009. His conviction continued as he fled parole and continued with his criminal activities. Hence in the interest of justice at large, he does not deserve any leniency". ## The bench, in its order, stated that they upheld the conviction and sentence passed against Abdul Rauf Dawood Merchant under section 302, 307 of IPC by the judgment of sessions court judge dated April 29, 2002. They also added that he is also convicted for the section under section 120-B of IPC. The bench said that he is acquitted of charges under sections 392 (Robbery) and 397 (Robbery or dacoity in attempt to cause death) of IPC.## Stay tuned...

Mumbai, June 30, 2021: Indian cinema was changed when SS Rajamouli created the world of Baahubali with Prabhas, who now become one of the hottest Indian properties in the entertainment field irrespective of the language. The Baahubali film series has raised the expectation bar high for Indian filmmakers to think for the larger-than-life cinema and push themselves beyond boundaries. ## In 2017, filmmaker Madhu Mantena along with Allu Aravind, and Namit Malhotra announced that they are adapting the epic Ramayana into a live-action 3D trilogy. Since then it has been in the pre-production stage as it requires a lot of neat and clean work to take it on floors. It was later revealed that Nitesh Tiwari along with Mom director, Ravi Udyawar will be donning the director's hat for this ambitious project. ## Since then, a lot of theories have been made around it about its casting, plot, among the other details. While we wait for things to be officially announced, Madhu Mantena has revealed some key details about the film and his plan to take this trilogy, which is touted to be India's biggest film ever, to the global audience. ## Speaking about the project to Pinkvilla, Madhu said, "The ambition that we have for Ramayana is larger than what our country has seen. The responsibility to tell this story is so larger that it requires a lot of work. We have taken it on ourselves to make it as well as anything else in the world. We are trying to follow the process that James Cameron did for Avatar. The ambition is so larger that we are going into the minute details of everything. We need to show the world what Ramayana is and it needs to portray all the magic that Valmiki wrote. This isn't a project, it's a purpose, a purpose to tell Ramayana in all its glory to the world", he added. ## Over the past year, there have been reports claiming that this trilogy will feature Telugu superstar Mahesh Babu as Ram along with Bollywood superstars Hrithik Roshan, and Deepika Padukone as Ravana and Sita respectively. When asked to comment on the same, the filmmaker neither denies nor confirms the news, but revealed that people can expect an announcement of the star-cast around Diwali this year. ## "Please expect the biggest cast ever in the history of Indian cinema. You can expect an announcement of the star-cast around Diwali this year. The characters of Ravana, Ram, Sita, Laxman are larger than life. You will see actors who are the best in class in terms of performances, coming on board the film. When I say the biggest cast ever, I mean it. It's going to be really exciting", he promises.## "We will be getting the best artists from across the country. It's not about North and South, it's about unifying the country. We are doing this as India", Madhu added. Talking about the budget of the film, he says, "We don't know the budget yet, but it's going to be bigger than anything that India has seen to date. We are making Ramayana for posterity. It's not a story, which will come and go, but something that will live on forever".## It is said that over 200 artists from across the globe are working on various aspects of the film for the last 2 years. Top Filmmakers Have Written Against The Government's Proposed Changes To Cinematograph Act

Mumbai, June 30, 2021: Some of the top filmmakers of the country - Vetrimaaran, Anuraga Kashyap, Kamal Haasan, Hansal Mehta, among others have slammed the union government for proposed amendments to the 1952 Cinematograph Act, which, after the proposed changes, will grant the Centre "revisionary powers" and allow it to "re-examine" films that have already been cleared by the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC). ## These actors and filmmakers have written an open letter to the Information and Broadcasting Ministry (I&B) opposing the government's proposed amendments to the 1952 Cinematograph Act. The letter was written just days after filmmaker-musician Vishal Bhardwaj used Twitter to urge his peers in the industry to oppose the move. ## I urge the Indian film fraternity and film lovers to oppose this unfair and unreasonable provision by writing an email to [email protected] and sharing their opinion before the deadline of 2 July. @producers_guild @DirectorsIFTDA @fwicemum— Vishal Bhardwaj (@VishalBhardwaj) June 25, 2021 ## On Sunday evening, filmmaker Prateek Vats and documentary filmmaker Shilpi Gulati, along with an academician and a lawyer, produced an online letter with over 1400 signatories from various walks of life.## "As another blow to the film fraternity, the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has proposed new amendments to the Cinematograph Act under which the Central Government would have the power to revoke or recall certification of films which have already been cleared by the Censor Board", the letter read. ## "Undermining the sovereignty of the Censor Board and the Supreme Court, this provision will effectively give the Central Government supreme power over cinema exhibition in the country potentially endangering freedom of expression and democratic dissent".## "This will also render filmmakers powerless at the hands of the state as more vulnerable to threats, vandalism, and intimidation of mob censors. The proposal to amend the Cinematograph Act comes two month Centre dissolved the Film Certification Appellate Tribunal (FCAT) in April 2021", the letter said.## Kamal Haasan, who has often criticized the BJP-led central government, has again come hard on the government and slammed the proposed changes. "Cinema, media and the literati cannot afford to be the three iconic monkeys of India. He had said that he will be producing this action thriller film under his banner JA Entertainment. ## While the casting of the film was not announced then, it has now been said that John Abraham will play one of the lead roles in the film. And to make things even more interesting, Abhishek Bachchan, who has starred with John in Dostana and Dhoom earlier, will reportadly reunite with him in the Ayyappanum Koshiyum Hindi remake. ## The official announcement on the casting is yet to be made, but according to reports, John and Abhishek will step into the shoes of Biju Menon and Prithviraj Sukumaran respectively. Mumbai, June 29, 2021: Recently, it was reported that Akshay Kumar will be doing one more film with the makers of his upcoming spy thriller film, Bell Bottom (scheduled to release on July 27). It was said that producer Vashu Bhagnani narrated the script to Akshay during the shoot of Bell Bottom and was agreed to star in it. ## Now, according to Peepingmoon, the reports were indeed true and the movie is the official remake of the 2018 Tamil psychological crime thriller film, Ratsasan. The report said that Akshay will be stepping into the shoes of Vishnu Vishal in the critically-acclaimed film. Rakul Preet Singh has reportadly been cast opposite Akshay to play the female lead. ## It will be directed by Ranjit M Tewari, who also helmed Bell Bottom while Vashu Bhagnani of Pooja Entertainment will be producing it. The film is currently in the pre-production stage and will go on the floors in August in London following the bio-bubble protocols.
