Mumbai, July 31 - Actor and filmmaker R Madhavan's Rocketry: The Nambi Effect, based on the life of former ISRO scientist Nambi Narayanan, has been a silent success story at the box office in Hindi. It has been one of the films which went unnoticed in media headlines but found appreciation among its target audiences. ## When the movie was released on July 1st, it had a huge task in hand to deliver at the box office. The opening of the film in Hindi was approx. 95 lakh, and at that time, it looked like the film will also meet the other box office failures. However, with strong positive audiences' word of mouth and constant push by Madhavan through social media, the film started getting recognition and carried a consistent run at the box office on a lower level. ## The film managed to touch the hearts of the audience who respect the film as their own, which clearly reflected at the box office. Shetty said that he always wanted to make this film, but he had a different reason to start this film in the pandemic. ## The "Singham" director has often insisted that his technicians are his biggest strength but because of the pandemic, they were left with no choice but to sit home without any job. During a recent interview with Pinkvilla, Shetty said that he wanted to restart the cycle of filmmaking for his technicians so that they could earn their livelihood. ## "Much like Sooryavanshi, Cirkus also has a history. It was the first film to get into the production stage. So many producers and directors visited our sets to see how we are shooting. Mumbai, July 29 - Yet another Yash Raj Films production bites the dust as Ranbir Kapoor-fronted biggie Shamshera, also starring Sanjay Dutt, and Vaani Kapoor, succumbed in the first week itself without putting up even a fight at the box office. ## Directed by Karan Malhotra, "Shamshera" was YRF's best bet among the five films in its current slot. The initial response to the movie was positive, as far as advance booking is concerned, but it couldn't sustain that momentum and ended up the first week with approx. 41 crores net, which is disastrous, to say the least. The worldwide gross collection is a little over 52 crores marks.## The period action drama film, which is made on a budget of around 150 crores, got largely affected by the reviews from critics, who slammed the movie left, right, and center as if, it was the worst movie ever made in Bollywood. The word of mouth was mixed, but that was not going to save the film from the wrath of self-claimed critics. ## "Shamshera" has nothing left in its show from hereon as it is another Bollywood movie post-pandemic to ended up becoming a one-week wonder. With "Ek Villain Returns" releasing today, things become even more difficult for Ranbeer Kapoor-starrer to retain screens. ## Yash Raj Films' next release is Shah Rukh Khan's comeback movie "Pathaan", which is scheduled to release on January 25, 2023. Since then, both got busy with their respective projects, and there has been not much development on their next project together. Mumbai, July 28 - Another Friday arrives and there is another big Bollywood film, in the form of "Ek Villain Returns", releasing in theaters. But the biggest question remains to answer, will fortune change this time? or will it meet the same fate as the previous films? It is something that is very difficult to predict in these changing box office dynamics post-pandemic. ## There was a time when Bollywood was the synonym for Blockbuster, however, that time has become a thing of the past as the blockbuster status, nowadays, becomes a blue moon for the industry. Forget about blockbuster or hit or superhit, taking a decent to good opening has become a hard nut to crack for the Hindi film industry despite a lot of promises. ## Talking about the Mohit Suri-directed "Ek Villain Returns", one thing is sure the stakes are not that high in this film as compared to the last Friday's release "Shamshera" of which, the box office result is there for everyone to see. The dismal show of Ranbir Kapoor-starrer could actually benefit EVR, which is looking to take a decent to a good start and the rest, makers hoping, the content will do the job for them. ## The advance booking of the film is around 2 crores gross (till 3:30 PM on July 28), which may not look big, but definitely decent, considering it was opened just 48 hours before the movie officially releases in theaters on July 29. Looking at the advance booking so far and the fact that it is a sequel to a successful film, the opening is expected somewhere between 5-6 crores. ## "Ek Villain Returns" is a kind of film that doesn't rely on heavy advance and hence, this 2 crores, which is likely to finish somewhere around 3 crores before the first show starts, can be seen as a positive trend so far. To keep our expectations low is a safe bet nowadays and thus, the opening of 5-6 crores is looking sure shot, but the industry is hoping at least 8 crores starts as spot booking is expected to be good as compared to advance. ## Produced by T-Series and Balaji Motion Pictures, "Ek Villain Returns" is reportedly eyeing a wide release on over 3000 screens across the country. The duo is currently working on, probably the biggest film for them, Prabhas-fronted "Adipurush", and it is said that Bhushan Kumar left super impressive with Raut and signed him for more films. ## Om Raut made his Hindi directorial debut with Ajay Devgn's "Tanhaji: The Unsung Warrior", which was co-produced by T-Series. The film became a massive hit and Om Raut's direction was praised to the top. On top of that, the movie was awarded National Award for Best Film in Providing Wholesome Entertainment along with Devgn winning the Best Actor award. ## The deal between Om Raut and T-Series is said to be existing much before the release of Tanhaji and now, the duo is further strengthening their collaboration by doing more films together. ## It has been reported that Bhushan Kumar has great belief in Om Raut's vision as a filmmaker and has provided him with the budgets that justify the scale of the film. Mumbai, July 25 - Junglee Pictures has announced its next film, an epic thriller drama "Dosa King". The studio has collaborated with the Tamil director, T.J. Gnanavel, who famously directed the Suriya-starrer "Jai Bhim". "Dosa King" marks his debut in Bollywood cinema. ## "Dosa King" is inspired by a woman called Jeevajothi Santhakumar and her tribulation with a restaurant mogul and hotelier P. Rajagopal, an accused in a 2001 murder case. P. Rajagopal was accused of a crime that shocked the nation resulting in a conviction after a trial that went on for 18 years - P.Rajagopal v. State of Tamil Nadu.## Sharing his excitement, Gnanavel, said, "I've observed the subject closely, following the case during my days as a journalist. I hope to bring out new dimensions through Jeevajothi's legal battle on screen. Today, directing this project & working on its characters feels surreal. I'm excited to begin this journey with Junglee Pictures which is known for developing some of the most iconic films in contemporary Indian Cinema".## The story of the upcoming film depicts Jeevajothi's fight against a powerful opponent, the owner of one of the largest South Indian restaurant chains in the world. An Indian restaurateur, better known as a family man who was worshipped for his huge-hearted generosity by not only his employees but also by the diners.## As per media reports, Rajagopal, who was the founder of the popular South Indian food chain - Saravana Bhavan, wanted to marry Jeevajothi, who was the daughter of one of his employees at his restaurant. ## Jeevajothi, however, was already married. To change things in his favor, Rajagopal hatched a criminal conspiracy to eliminate her husband, Prince Santhakumar. And in 2001, Prince Santhakumar was murdered and his body was found in Kodaikanal city of Karnataka. Rajagopal was eventually convicted for the murder of Jeevajothi Santhakumar's husband by the Supreme Court, a justice that was delivered almost two decades after the crime.## Junglee Pictures acquired the rights for the story of Jeevajothi Santhakumar in July 2021. Bhavani Iyer has penned the script of the film.
