Irfan Pathan Picks Up Retired XI To Take On Current Team India

Amid the talk about a farewell match for the recently retired Mahendra Singh Dhoni and Suresh Raina, former India all-rounder Irfan Pathan has come up with an interesting idea. After the retirement of the legendary Sachin Tendulkar, many Indian players have retired from the international cricket who didn't receive a proper farewell. ## Irfan Pathan has suggested a 'charity-cum-farewell game' between a team comprising retired Indian cricketers who didn't receive a proper send-off against the current Indian team led by Virat Kohli.## Pathan, who announced his retirement from the cricket earlier this year, has picked up some of India's biggest match-winners who never received a proper send-off. The 35-year old has picked up the following names along with picking himself – Gautam Gambhir (retired in 2018), Virender Sehwag (retired in 2014), Rahul Dravid (retired in 2012), VVS Laxman (retired in 2012), Yuvraj Singh (retired in 2019), MS Dhoni & Suresh Raina (2020), Ajit Agarkar (retired in 2007), Zaheer Khan (retired in 2015), and Pragyan Ojha (retired in 2020). ## He tweeted, "Many people are talking about a farewell game for retired players who didn't get a proper send-off from the game. How about a charity cum farewell game from a team consisting of retired players vs the current Indian team?". ## Many people are talking about a farewell game for retired players who didn't get a proper send-off from the game. However, a senior BCCI official has said that the board is willing to host a farewell match for the former India captain and the two-time world cup winner MS Dhoni. He said that the board will have a word with Dhoni during the IPL regarding his desire to play a farewell game.## Stay tuned...

PM Narendra Modi Greets Suresh Raina With An Appreciation Letter

Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi has acknowledged Suresh Raina's contribution to cricket and greeted him with an appreciation letter. Raina who played for India for almost 15 years, hanged his boots from the international cricket along with former India captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni on the evening of Independence Day of India (August 15). ## Yesterday (August 20), Mahendra Singh Dhoni had shared the letter sent to him by the PM on his Twitter handle and thanked the Prime Minister for his nice gesture. "An Artist, Soldier and Sportsperson what they crave for is appreciation, that their hard work and sacrifice is getting noticed and appreciated by everyone. thanks PM @narendramodi for your appreciation and good wishes", Dhoni wrote on Twitter. ## To begin with, the PM wrote about the toughest decision of 'retirement' taken by Raina at such a young age and wished him for his second innings after a 'fruitful innings on the cricket field'. The PM further recalled Raina's cricket journey from began early in life in Muradnagar to representing India in all three formats. ## Apart from being a fine batsman, Suresh also came handy with the ball and had often provided breakthroughs when the situation 'demanded'. The PM remembered all this especially his fielding which was fierce and cool at the same time. Through his alertness in the field, he used to save crucial runs for the team and taking some breathtaking catches. ## Suresh Raina who started his international career with ODIs, modified himself as a T20 specialist. Raina is the first Indian to score a century in the shortest format of the game and also the first Indian to score a century in all three formats. I saw you live in action at the Motera Stadium, Ahmedabad, during the Quarter Final against Australia. Your anchoring innings had a big role to play in our team's victory. I can confidently say that most fans will miss seeing your elegant cover drives, one which I was lucky to witness live that day".## One of the most admirable aspects of Suresh Raina has been his game spirit. He was one who celebrated his teammates' success more than of himself. Writing about the same, the PM said, "You played not for personal glory but for the glory of your team and the glory of India. ## The PM also admired Raina for the social work he is doing for the 'women empowerment', 'Swachh Bharat' and helping the needy and wrote that "I am glad you are attached to India's cultural roots and proud of deepening youth's connect with our glorious ethos as well as value systems". ## He concluded wishing a fruitful and successful second inning and wrote "I do hope you will use this opportunity to spend even more quality time with Priyanka (wife), Gracia (daughter), and Rio (son)". ## In response to the letter, Raina thanked PM for his gesture via Twitter and shared the letter PM sent to him "When we play, we give our blood & sweat for the nation. Dhoni who has a habit of keeping himself away from the limelight announced his retirement via an Instagram post and video. ## Over the 16-years of career, Dhoni has achieved a lot as a captain and as a player. He is the only captain in the history of cricket to win all three ICC trophies - the ICC T20 World Cup (2007), the ICC ODI World Cup (2011), and the ICC Champions Trophy (2013). ## And now, looking at his achievements, BCCI believes that MS Dhoni has done a lot for India and deserves a proper farewell. And therefore, the board will reportedly have a word with Dhoni during the IPL regarding his desire to play a farewell game. ## "There is no international series right now, maybe after IPL, we will see what can be done because Dhoni has done a lot for the nation and he deserves all the respect. We always wanted to have a farewell match for him but Dhoni is a different player. He announced his retirement when nobody was thinking of it", the official told IANS. ## "Surely we will speak to him during the IPL and that would be the right place to get his opinion about a match or series. Well, there will be a proper felicitation ceremony for him no matter if he agrees on it or not. That will be our honor to felicitate him", he added. ## Former Indian all-rounder Madan Lal also said that Dhoni deserves a farewell match and BCCI can host a series in India after the IPL so that fans can see Dhoni in action in the blue jersey for the last and final time. ## "I would be really happy if the BCCI hosts a match for Dhoni. He is a legendary player and you can't let him go just like that. His fans would want to see him again in action". ## Although MS Dhoni has said goodbye to the Indian jersey, he will be in the action leading Chennai Super Kings in the 13th edition of the Indian Premier League starting on Septemeber 19 in the UAE. ## Stay tuned...

Dream 11 Bags Title Sponsorship For The IPL 2020

Fantasy cricket platform Dream 11 has bagged the title sponsorship for the Indian Premier League 2020 with a winning bid of INR 222 crore.## Dream 11 beat Unacademy (INR 171 crore) and Byju's (INR 201 crore) to clinch the deal which will run from 18 August to 31 December 2020, IPL chairman Brijesh Patel confirmed to Cricbuzz. ## Earlier, BCCI had suspended the VIVO's title sponsorship for the year 2020.
