Producer Teases Possibilities of 'Top Gun: Maverick' Sequel

Los Angeles, December 11 - One of the biggest success stories of the year, Tom Cruise's Top Gun: Maverick shattered the box office records. Joseph Kosinski's directorial grossed over $1.4 billion at the global box office and become the highest-grossing movie of the year. ## "Top Gun 2" is currently the eleventh-highest-grossing film of all time. The sequel also earned an impressive Rotten Tomatoes score with a 96% critics rating and a 99% audience rating, and with such mighty numbers, the talks for its sequel were always going to make the headlines. ## Recently, director Joseph Kosinski and producer Jerry Bruckheimer spoke at Deadline's Contenders LA3C panel and addressed the possibility of another Top Gun movie.## "Is there another story that is compelling enough that we need to go back to?" Kosinski was asked and he said, "It seems to me at the end of this film that Maverick has some gas left in the tank. He's not settling down".## Kosinski further said that it will be some task to bring the same star cast to the movie though the makers are sure they will be able to bring Cruise on board. "I knew we'd be able to get Tom on the plane, but we weren't sure about the rest of the cast," Kosinski explained. ## "Tom devised this three-month course for all the actors, to start with a very simple airplane and work their way up to the Navy jet. They all were able to do all their scenes in the jets for real, which is just phenomenal because you can't imagine how physically difficult it is to do what they're doing. They're flying with real Top Gun pilots", he said.## "I think a couple of them had a hard time, but they wouldn't let me know. They would actually kind of keep it under wraps just because they wanted to make sure we were getting everything we needed to get", the director added.## Stay tuned...

James Gunn Gives Massive Update On Henry Cavill's 'Superman' Comeback

Los Angeles, December 11 - The fans of Superman, the iconic DC superhero character, have been on an emotional rollercoaster of epic proportions over the last few weeks. ## It has been five years since Henry Cavill's Superman was last seen on the big screen in a full-fledged role. It was recently when Henry Cavill announced via social media that he would be returning as Kal-El and even made a theater-shaking mid-credits appearance in Dwayne Johnson's "Black Adam". ## The DC Universe, however, is going through a transition period in which the top Warner Bros. Discovery brass is taking some harsh decisions to shape up DC's future for the next 8-10 years. The studio also appointed filmmaker James Gunn as co-head of DC Studio and things are already heating up under his leadership. ## While Cavill announced "Man of Steal 2", earlier this week, reports surfaced that suggested Cavill's highly-anticipated sequel could be on the chopping block alongside a slate of other DC projects. This came as a big shock to the fans and they keep asking Gunn to clear things about the future of Superman. ## It has been alleged that James Gunn does not want Cavill's superman return, however, the filmmaker has himself clarified things and confirmed that Superman is DC's one of biggest priorities. Amid the cancellation rumours, a fan on Twitter asked Gunn "if we're gonna see Superman", to which the filmmaker responded, "Yes of course. Superman is a huge priority, if not the biggest priority".## Yes of course. Superman is a huge priority, if not the biggest priority.— James Gunn (@JamesGunn) December 10, 2022 ## Stay tuned...

Box Office: Avatar 2 Projected To Take $200 Million Opening In China

Mumbai, December 10 - James Cameron's Avatar: The Way of Water is less than a week to go before its long-awaited blockbuster release. ## As reported earlier, "Avatar 2" will need to score, at least, $2 billion at the global box office to turn a profit and for that, the movie will need key international markets to come into the game and one of them will be China.## China is the biggest movie market in the world and when it announced the release date of "Avatar 2", which is December 16, it came as a major relief for Disney which was finding it tough to get its movies released in the country. ## "Avatar 2" is tracking a mammoth opening in China. The movie is having a super solid advance booking for the weekend and has already crossed $20 million (till December 13) with 3 days still to go for the release. As per the projection, the sequel is tracking a $185 million - $205 million start in China, which is higher than the opening weekend projection in the domestic market. ## The first "Avatar" movie, which was released in 2009, grossed $202 million in its lifetime run in China (not counting re-release numbers of 2021). "Avatar 2" has a shot to outgross its predecessor's collection in China in the opening weekend itself. ## Meanwhile, the sci-fi epic, which is 3 hours 12 minute-long, has been projected to score $175 million in the opening weekend in the domestic (North America) market. Some of the local box office analysts are even projecting a $200 million start, which will be more than the 3X opening of the first movie. ## Stay tuned...

James Gunn Responds To 'Wonder Woman 3' Cancellation And Other DC Movies' Changes

Los Angeles, December 9 - Filmmaker James Gunn, the new DC Studios co-head, has responded to the chaotic reports about the cancellation of Gal Gadot's "Wonder Woman 3", and other DC movie changes, as far as the future of DC is concerned. ## It was reported yesterday by The Hollywood Reporter that Warner Bros., under the leadership of James Gunn and Peter Safran, is not moving ahead with the next Wonder Woman movie as the studio was not happy with the script presented by Patty Jenkins. ## Apart from the "Woman Women 3" news, it was also reported that the newly announced Henry Cavill may or may not reprise Superman while the upcoming "Aquaman 2" may be the swan song for Jason Momoa as the studio is not willing to take the franchise forward. ## Responding to the reports, James Gunn took to Twitter and said that "some of it is true, some of it half-true, some of it is not true, and some of it we haven't decided yet whether it's true or not". Gunn and Safran have been appointed to shape up the next 8-10 years of DC studio and the former said that it will take some time to build the franchise. ## As far as "Wonder Woman 3" is concerned, Deadline reports that writer-director Jenkins was given another chance to re-develop the story as the top Warner Bros. motion pictures brass were concerned about character arcs and payoffs, and the threequel emulating similar structural problems ala "Wonder Woman 1984", but Jenkins wasn't ready. The studio, however, still wants Gal Gadot to play Wonder Woman, but it is not yet sure she would do it without Jenkins at the helm.## Gunn continues and said that there will be hard steps taken, and by doing this, they will not able to please everyone. He says "Peter & I chose to helm DC Studios knowing we were coming into a fractious environment, both in the stories being told & in the audience itself & there would be an unavoidable transitional period as we moved into telling a cohesive story across film, TV, animation, and gaming".## "We know we are not going to make every single person happy every step of the way, but we can promise everything we do is done in the service of the STORY & in the service of the DC CHARACTERS we know you cherish and we have cherished our whole lives", Gunn says.## The filmmaker goes on to say that all the DC characters and their stories will be given enough time and attention they deserve. "As for more answers about the future of the DCU, I will sadly have to ask you to wait. We are giving these characters & the stories the time & attention they deserve & we ourselves still have a lot more questions to ask & answer". ## Although this first month at DC has been fruitful, building the next ten years of story takes time & we’re still just beginning.— James Gunn (@JamesGunn) December 8, 2022 ## But, in the end, the drawbacks of that transitional period were dwarfed by the creative possibilities & the opportunity to build upon what has worked in DC so far & to help rectify what has not.— James Gunn (@JamesGunn) December 8, 2022 ## As for more answers about the future of the DCU, I will sadly have to ask you to wait. Priyanka Chopra Received Equal Pay To Her Male Co-Stars For Amazon Prime Video's 'Citadel'

Los Angeles, December 8 - India's international star, Priyanka Chopra revealed in an interview with BBC's 100 Women that she has received equal pay to her male co-stars for Amazon Prime Video's upcoming series Citadel. ## This is the first time that Priyanka is getting equal pay in her 20 years of an acting career. She revealed that in Bollywood, she used to get only 10% of what her male co-stars got to star in a movie.## "I've never had pay parity in Bollywood. I would get paid about 10% of the salary of my male co-actor", the actress said. "It [the pay gap] is large, substantially large. And so many women still deal with that. I'm sure I will too if I worked with a male co-actor now in Bollywood". ## Priyanka, who has worked in over 60 Bollywood movies, also revealed that she had also faced sexism and body shaming while working on Bollywood productions. "I thought it was absolutely ok to sit for hours and hours on set, while my male co-actor just took his own time, and decided whenever he wanted to show up on set is when we would shoot".## "I was called 'black cat' and 'dusky'. I mean, what does 'dusky' even mean in a country where we are literally all brown?" Chopra Jonas continued. "I thought I was not pretty enough, I believed that I would have to work a lot harder, even though I thought I was probably a little bit more talented than my fellow actors who were lighter skinned", she added.## Talking about "Citadel", it is a spy actioner from "Avengers: Infinity War" directors Joe and Anthony Russo. The show features an ensemble cast that is headlined by Chopra Jonas and Richard Madden. ## Stay tuned...

Gal Gadot's 'Wonder Woman 3' Put On Hold Indefinitely

Los Angeles, December 8 - Warner Bros. seems to be clueless or maybe thinking too far ahead to shape up its DCEU future. The studio is moving on from its established superheroes and is on the cusp of a new era as far as the DC movies are concerned. ## The Warner Bros. Discovery CEO, David Zaslav recently roped filmmakers James Gunn and Peter Safran to shape up DC's future for the next 8 to 10 years, and now, according to The Hollywood Reporter, one of the first and big moves by the studio is that it is scrapping the planned 3rd installment of Gal Gadot-fronted "Wonder Woman". ## The report says that Patty Jenkins' "Wonder Woman 3" is not moving forward and is considered dead in its current incarnation. It is said that Jenkins recently submitted her treatment, co-written with Geoff Johns and that Gunn and Safran, as well as Warner Bros. Pictures co-chairs and co-CEOs Michael De Luca and Pamela Abdy, broke the news to the filmmaker, telling her the project — as it stood — did not fit in with the new plans. ## Jenkins directed and co-wrote the previous two "Wonder Woman" movies, starring Gal Gadot and released in 2017 and 2020. While the 3rd movie has been put on hold indefinitely, no decision has been made about next steps regarding its future.## Possibly clueless about this unfortunate development, Gal Gadot recently took to Twitter and shared that she couldn't wait to share the next chapter of "Wonder Woman" with fans while thanking the audiences for the love showered on the first two movies. ## Stay tuned...

James Cameron's 'Avatar: The Way of Water' First Reviews Are Out Online

Los Angeles, December 7 - James Cameron's sci-fi Avatar: The Way of Water is giving all indications to become the next big thing in the world of cinema. The sequel to Cameron's 2009 movie "Avatar" is scheduled to hit screens on December 16 and it is expected to create the same magic its predecessor did nearly 13 years ago.## The movie has had its world premiere last night and the early reviews are calling it phenomenal and better than the first part which grossed more than $2.90 billion worldwide and is the highest-grossing movie of all time. If the early critics' reviews are anything to go by, "Avatar 2" is by far the best movie in many many years despite being more than 3 hours long.## Set more than a decade after the events of the first film, Avatar: The Way of Water tells the story of the Sully family, the trouble that follows them, the lengths they go to keep each other safe, the battles they fight to stay alive, and the tragedies they endure. It stars Sam Worthington, Zoe Saldaña, Stephen Lang, and Kate Winslet, among others in key roles.## Have a look at some of the reviews of Avatar 2 - ## This is James Cameron leaning right into that Cameron playbook. There are Titanic vibes, True Lies vibes, Abyss vibes, Terminator 2 vibes - it is Cameron in top form, matching tremendous visuals w/ a VERY entertaining & emotional story that leaves you wanting more. LOVED! pic.twitter.com/Dz1FL6a2It— Erik Davis (@ErikDavis) December 6, 2022 ## James Cameron's #AvatarTheWayOfWater is a monumental filmmaking achievement striking a great balance between technical & emotional. The 48fps 3D experience features some of the most jaw-dropping immersion I’ve ever seen. Felt like a kid again watching T2 for 1st time. Astounding. pic.twitter.com/cfiMADJzU4— Kevin McCarthy (@KevinMcCarthyTV) December 6, 2022 ## Avatar: The Way of Water, being more than 3 hours long, is both fulfilling and indulgent. It still ends wanting you to know a third is coming.Constantly a visual feast, creative plays with frame rate, and never boring despite. Overall, I liked it. pic.twitter.com/0Wxxc8ZC9L— BD (@BrandonDavisBD) December 6, 2022 ## As someone who LIKED -- but didn't LOVE -- the first AVATAR, let me tell you:AVATAR: THE WAY OF WATER blew me away.Vastly superior in visuals, story telling and performances, the sequel left my jaw on the ground for the entire runtime.James Cameron is the GOD of sequels. pic.twitter.com/1cw6C94O4f— Jake Hamilton (@JakesTakes) December 6, 2022 ## Avatar: The Way of Water once again teaches us to respect animals & the environment, but it's also all about family & our bond with one another. Certain moments seem drawn out purposefully to enhance the eye candy (I wasn't complaining). It's a must watch in 3D IMAX! #Avatar pic.twitter.com/qzPCpZ8I7y— Tessa Smith - Mama's Geeky (@MamasGeeky) December 6, 2022 ## AVATAR: THE WAY OF WATER is breathtakingly beautiful with the most incredible VFX I have ever seen (I saw it in 3D); the story itself is weaker than the first and feels drawn out at 3 hours & 10 minutes, but it’s always great to look at & the last hour is amazing. #Avatar pic.twitter.com/8dEhtvRb4P— Scott Mantz (@MovieMantz) December 6, 2022 ## James Cameron once again shows filmmakers how it’s done. I’ve said it a thousand times. Never doubt him. AVATAR: THE WAY OF WATER is how you do epic blockbuster-ing. Emotional, visceral, and as big as movies get. @officialavatar— Josh Horowitz (@joshuahorowitz) December 6, 2022 ## Should we be surprised? Probably not - the man doesn't half-arse anything, as almost everyone I spoke to at the premiere mentioned! Standouts are Stephen Lang's return and the brilliant young cast. It won't be for everyone (and I personally have a huge aversion to "baby girl" 😖)— Tori Brazier (@dinotaur) December 7, 2022 ## #Avatar2 // #AvatarTheWayOfWater is better than its predecessor in that there’s more going on with the story and characters and its ASTOUNDING technological advancements. Great escapism with enriching sentiments.— Courtney Howard (@Lulamaybelle) December 6, 2022 ## I was, uh, not exactly champing at the bit for an Avatar 2 (even if “James Cameron + wet” tends to work out pretty well). now I can’t *wait* to see Avatar 3. that’s basically all I wanted out of this and it delivered in a big way.— david ehrlich (@davidehrlich) December 6, 2022 ## Unsurprisingly, #AvatarTheWayOfWater is a visual masterpiece with rich use of 3D and breathtaking vistas. It does suffer from a thin story and too many characters to juggle, yet James Cameron pulls it together for an extraordinary final act full of emotion and thrilling action. pic.twitter.com/opr6CRyOwk— Ian Sandwell (@ian_sandwell) December 6, 2022 ## Stay tuned...

Box Office: Dwayne Johnson's 'Black Adam' To Face Theatrical Losses

Los Angeles, December 6 - One of the biggest movie stars in the world, Dwayne Johnson's superhero debut with DC's Black Adam couldn't bring fruitful results at the box office, despite grossing approx. $387 million worldwide. ## Directed by Jaume Collet-Serra, the superhero movie will end up facing losses of $50 million to $100 million in its theatrical run, according to Variety. Though the box office numbers of "Black Adam" are no less knowing how things have gone post the covid-19 pandemic, it is the budget and marketing cost that proving to be a big hurdle for the movie to turn a profit.## The Warner Bros. film was made on a budget of approx. $195 million, making it one of the costliest movies ever made, while it additionally cost $80 million to $100 million on marketing. The report says that the movie needed to do a business of around $600 million worldwide to break even and turn into a profitable venture for the studio, which is unlikely to happen. ## However, according to Warner Bros. sources (via Variety), the movie will break even at $400 million. When the film was commissioned, the break-even was believed to be $450 million, but that figure has dropped given the particularities of the new home entertainment landscape, one in which "Black Adam" has over-performed projections. ## Despite all the above figures and projections, "Black Adam" won't be a profitable venture for Warner Bros. which had high hopes for the movie. It might still be enough for "Black Adam" to get greenlit for its sequel. ## Stay tuned...

Avatar: The Way of Water Tracking For $170 Million Opening In North America

Los Angeles, November 26 - The long-awaited sequel to James Cameron's "Avatar" - Avatar: The Way of Water is set for more than the double opening of the first film at the domestic (North America) box office. ## According to The Hollywood Reporter, the sci-fi epic is tracking at least $150 million - $170 million in the opening weekend in North America. These are conservative estimates and may go higher. The first "Avatar" movie, released in 2009, opened to $77 million and later enjoyed extraordinary legs to project a $785 million lifetime total (re-release included).## One of the reasons for the conservative opening weekend projections of "Avatar: The Way of Water" is that it is 30 minutes longer than the first movie with a runtime of 3 hours and 10 minutes, meaning the sequel will have fewer showtimes per day.## "Avatar 2" is not the only Hollywood movie with longer runtime. The second and third highest-grossing movies of all time, "Avengers: Endgame" ($2.79 billion) and Cameron's "Titanic" ($2.2 billion) are more than 3 hours long. As reported earlier, "Avatar 2" is eyeing a minimum $2 billion worldwide gross collection in its lifetime run. ## Produced by Cameron and Jon Landau, and distributed by Disney, "Avatar 2" stars Zoe Saldaña, Sam Worthington, Sigourney Weaver, Kate Winslet, and Stephen Lang, among others in key roles. The movie is scheduled to release on December 16 in over 100 languages worldwide in multiple formats.## Stay tuned...
