Box Office: Selfiee Opening Day Early Estimates

Mumbai, February 24 - Selfie starring Akshay Kumar and Emraan Hashmi released today. The release of the film is not as big as other Akshay Kumar releases of the past but there were expectations of good numbers from the film at least initially, but it proved all the expectations wrong and took one of the lowest openings of all time featuring a major star. There was not an expectation of the 20Cr or 25Cr mark but at least a double-digit start should have been there but is not even one-third of that. The opening day early estimates suggest around 3 crores net which is disastrous. Last week, Shehzada featuring Kartik Aryan who is an upcoming star took a disappointing opening but now that opening looks far better as it is more than a double of Selfie. The film will probably emerge as one of the lowest openings ever for Akshay Kumar and In real value, it will be the lowest ever. ## Akshay Kumar who is one of the most popular stars in the industry has struggled the most after the pandemic era. He has given a series of disasters that did not even take an opening. Forget taking an opening, the audience did not even care for his films. A genuine star like him should not be working in the films like Selifee or Bell Bottom or most of his post-pandemic films which gave a feeling of a B-grade cinema. Also, he needs to cut down his releases to one or two max in one year which will enable the interest among the public in his films.## There is a hope that the upcoming films of Akshay Kumar should match his stature as a star as he is capable of delivering big openings and huge hits as he did in the past with films like Rowdy Rathore, Welcome, Singh Is King and others. Akshay Kumar had a dream year in 2019 just a few months before the pandemic struck the box office as those films have a feeling of a Hindi motion film rather than a B-grade cinema.## Stay tuned...

Pathaan Third Friday Early Estimates

Mumbai, February 10 - Pathaan is heading towards another good day at the box office going by the early estimate figures which suggest around 5 crores net mark on its third Friday. The hold once again has given a chance to the film to cross the collections of Bahubali: The Conclusion.## The third Friday collections will take the total tally of Pathaan to around 464cr net box office mark and now the film needs just another 50cr collection to emerge as the highest-grossing film in the Hindi language beating Bahubali: The Conclusion. ## There will be a growth in the collections tomorrow as it is a Saturday when multiplexes see huge walk-ins while single screens will see it's the best day on Sunday. If Pathaan manages to collect around 18-20cr net on Saturday and Sunday then even a 525cr net mark is also possible.## There have been a few films that have seen a release due to valentine's week like Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jaayenge, Jab We Met, and Tamasha but these were limited to one or two screens only. Mumbai, February 9 - Pathaan is continuing with its steady run at the box office as the early estimate collections suggest 5.50-6 crores net on its third Thursday which is around a 10-12% drop from yesterday's collections. Even yesterday the film had shown a similar drop.## The third Thursday collections will take the total collections of Pathaan to around 459cr net box office mark as per early estimates. Pathaan has another free week and the first sign of competition will arrive the next week with Shehzada. Overall the job has been done and Pathaan has emerged as one of the biggest box-office hits of the last 15 years. ## The overseas numbers are never seen before as the film is heading for close to the 50 million mark. The previous best were Dangal, Padmaavat, Bajrangi Bhaijaan and Dhoom3 all of them were in the 28-30 million range. The overseas record will stay for some years unless another Shah Rukh Khan starrer gets huge appreciation there which is possible with Dunki which is directed by Raj Kumar Hirani. Also, the release date is better than Pathaan as Xmas is the best period for overseas business. ## The overseas numbers helped Pathaan to put a massive worldwide collection where it has beaten every film in the Hindi film industry in the first phase. When the run of Pathaan will end it will be among the greatest worldwide grossers along with Dangal, Bahubali: The Conclusion, KGF2, RRR, and Bajrangi Bhaijaan.## Stay tuned...

Mumbai, February 8 - Pathaan continues to hold well after a fantastic second weekend where it emerged as one of the biggest second weekends ever. As per the early estimates, the movie scored around 6.50-7 crores net on its third Wednesday. ## The film is showing a drop of around 10-12% daily which is a good sign. The ticket rates of the film are now more to regular levels and hence the collections are looking good only but with the same pricing as on weekends, the collections would have been excellent. The ticket rates should have been kept on the higher side as it would have helped the film to cross the Bahubali2 numbers which are still possible but not easy. ## The third Wednesday collections will take the total collections of Pathaan to around 453Cr net box office mark becoming the only Bollywood film in history to cross this landmark. The film needs around 50Cr to join the 500cr mark which will make it one of the biggest blockbusters of the last 15 years and 60cr to emerge as the highest-grossing film ever in Hindi languages. ## Pathaan has a free run of another week or so and this has proved to be a huge plus for the film. There should be higher footfalls in the next couple of days for Pathaan due to valentine's week which although is not an official holiday but multiplexes do see higher walk-ins. The worldwide numbers are historic and overseas numbers are never seen before for Pathaan. Mumbai, February 7 - Pathaan is continuing its winning streak at the box office with superb holds after a fantastic second weekend. As per the early estimates, the movie scored 7.50-8 crores net on its second Tuesday. The film will continue to show similar sorts of drops in the next subsequent days which is a regular for these types of front-loaded biggies. The ticket rates have also come down to regular levels from blockbusters weekend pricing and considering that the hold here is a huge plus. ## The second Tuesday collections will take the total collections of Pathaan to around 446cr net box office mark depending on the actual second Tuesday numbers. Tomorrow the film will cross the landmark figure of 450cr and become the only second film in history to cross this benchmark in the Hindi language after Bahubali: The Conclusion. ## The lifetime business is hard to predict but that historic 500cr number looks within the range unless the film shows far bigger drops than expected. Whether the film will beat Bahubali: The Conclusion to emerge as the highest-grossing film of all time is still a question but let's hope for the best that it does cross Bahubali2 to show the true potential of films in today's time. The film has shown a growth of around 25% compared to yesterday which is simply unbelievable as yesterday the film had a growth of close to 65%. Only universally accepted films show this sort of growth and there is no doubt that Pathaan is a universally accepted Blockbuster. ## The second Sunday collections will take the total collections of Pathaan to around 428cr net box office mark depending on where the actual second Sunday numbers fall. The mass centers have once again come in full force on Sunday due to the holiday while multiplexes were also good. There were expectations of 30cr Sunday and Pathaan was in the race to achieve that but the late evening and night shows have seen a fall in collections due to the next day being a working day.## At 428cr net box office collections, Pathaan has emerged as the third highest-grossing film ever in the Hindi language behind KGF2 and the biggest blockbuster of this century Bahubali2. Mumbai, February 4 - Pathaan annihilated the box office on the second Saturday of its run with collections likely to be more than 60% compared to yesterday. The collections are heading towards the 23 crores net (Hindi - 22 crores) on the second Saturday, as per the early estimates. This is extraordinary growth for a mass front-loaded film that has already created historic initial records. ## The growth was always on the cards due to the superb holds on the weekdays but this sort of growth was unexpected and tells a lot about the public appreciation for Pathaan. East, West, North, and South Pathaan has superb growth all over the country across every circuit. There are a few underperforming centers as they are not at the historic levels but as standalone centers, they are doing well.## The second Saturday collections will take the entire collection of Pathaan to over 400cr net box office mark. The film has crossed the lifetime business of Dangal to emerge as the highest-grossing film in the Hindi film industry and it is also the first Hindi film that crossed the benchmark of the 400cr club. Pathaan is also heading to break many lifetime circuit records which might start in the next subsequent days. ## Sunday is set for further growth and a freaking 30cr plus Sunday cannot be ruled out the way the film is being appreciated. The second weekend stands at around 37cr net box office mark with a Sunday to come which will take the second weekend total to over 60cr marl easily or even a 65cr mark. The South biggie KGF2 can also be crossed on Sunday but for that Pathaan needs 30cr plus Sunday numbers. West Bengal is an SRK-driven circuit and is doing pretty fine. The film has beaten some of the biggest blockbusters of the last decade today like PK, Tiger Zinda Hai, and Sanju to emerge as the second highest-grossing film in the Bollywood film industry. The film requires another 40cr net box office mark to beat the highest-grossing Hindi film Dangal which will be crossed by Friday. ## The extended first-week collections (Nine days) are set to be around 365Cr net or even higher. As per the early estimates, the movie scored around 23 crores net. Few films had a higher Monday number than Pathaan on nonholiday but this 23cr is coming after a business of 280cr net which makes it an extraordinary Monday. ## The first Monday collections will take Pathaan to over the 300cr net box office mark and this is the first Hindi film post-pandemic to cross this benchmark. It is also the first Shah Rukh Khan film that crossed the benchmark of 300cr. His contemporaries Salman Khan and Aamir Khan have multiple tipple-century grossers but Pathaan is sure to beat all of them by a margin. ## Pathaan now stands at 303cr net and by the end of the second weekend, the film is sure to beat the numbers of Dangal to emerge as the highest-grossing film in the industry.
