Valimai Makers Rejects 300 Cr Direct To OTT Deal

Chennai, Jan 8, 2022: Ajith's 'Valimai' was supposed to hit the screens during Pongal on January 13, accordingly, the makers were building a great buzz ahead of the film's release. But the pandemic situation and increase in corona number of cases, have resulted in the postponement of the film release. ## Now, the latest report suggests that Ajith's 'Valimai' has rejected a 300 Cr direct OTT deal However, the makers turned down the deal since the film is made for the audience to enjoy on big screens, and they feel that the film's expectations will never go down due to the delay. ## Valimai is Boney Kapoor’s second collaboration with Ajith Kumar and director H Vinoth, after Nerkonda Paarvai, which was the Tamil remake of Bollywood film Pink. Recently, it was announced that Valimai will also be made available in Hindi and Telugu, making it Ajith’s maiden film to get a multiple language release. ## Meanwhile, Ajith will be commencing the work for his 61st film soon, and he is reportedly teaming up with H Vinoth and Boney Kapoor for the third continuous time. ## Stay tuned.

Bollywood Box Office Report: 2021

Mumbai, Jan 7, 2022: The cinemas remained shut for most of 2021 due to Covid 19 but things were back to normal with the release of Sooryavanshi on Diwali 2021. There was a total of 73 films released in 2021 and 32 of them were theatrical releases. Those 32 films have contributed around 550cr collections at the box office which is a fair result as there is something in the bag rather than nothing. These 32 films also include the dubbed version of Allu Arjun starrer Pushpa: The Rise. ## The Biggest plus of the year was the business of Sooryavanshi and dubbed version collections of Pushpa. Released on Diwali, The Akshay Kumar fronted Sooryavanshi was the first film that brought back the audience to the theatres in a big way if we ignore the dubbed version of Pushpa which is a non-Hindi film. With collections of around 196cr - Sooryavanshi has become the Biggest Grosser of the Hindi film industry. ## After Sooryavanshi, the only other film which did decent business was Salman Khan and Ayush Sharma starrer Antim: The Final Truth with collections of around 40 Cr. After this, there was a Tadap that had done okayish business with 26cr collections. Tadap was the launch of Suniel Shetty Son Ahan Shetty and according to that, the business is decent. ## The Biggest disappointments of the year were the rejection of big films like Satyamev Jayate2, Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui, and 83. While John Abraham starrer Satyamev Jayate2 was expected to put big box office figures as the first part was a huge hit, Ayushman Khurrana's Chandigarh Kare Aashiqui was expected to draw a premium multiplex audience due to its premise but both the films have failed to live onto the expectations. The big Xmas event film of the year starring Ranveer Singh - "83" was expected to challenge the numbers of Sooryavanshi but the film has failed to do that with just 95cr collections till now and nothing is coming from the theatres now as the cinemas across many states got shut. ## There were some Hindi films which released in February and March like Mumbai Saga And Roohi. Roohi had collected around 22crs at the box office while Mumbai Saga did 17cr approx business. ## The Top 5 Highest Hindi Net Grossers Of The Year ## 1. Big Brands Signs Allu Arjun For Commercials

Hyderabad, Jan 7, 2022: Leading Food Aggregator App, Zomato has signed Icon Star Allu Arjun as it's Brand Ambassador. A commercial is being shot at a Star Hotel in Hyderabad. Director Krish who directed Allu Arjun in Vedam is wielding the megaphone for this commercial. ## Neha Shetty is seen alongside Bunny in this ad. The Brand will announce the association very soon at a grand gala event. The star is reportedly paid a hefty amount for this endorsement, we are told. They are planning a massive promotional campaign with the Stylish Star as its face in the coming days. ### Allu Arjun amazed the audience with excellent transformation in his recent release, Pushpa. The movie will be out on Amazon Prime Video today at 8 PM. The film has got a seriously good run in the Hindi markets and so, the Hindi version OTT release is delayed. ## Meanwhile, Pushpa‘s second part will go on floors in February or March. With the sequel, the makers are taking a 24-year leap, as the story unfolds in the times of the 1971 war between India and Pakistan. The movie happens to be the third instalment of the Tiger franchise and will mark Salman’s reunion with Katrina Kaif after the 2019 release Bharat leaving the fans excited. ## Tiger3 will also see Emraan Hashmi as the lead antagonist. This will be the first time that Emraan Hashmi and Salman Khan will share the screen. Mumbai, Jan 4, 2022: The much-awaited Akshay Kumar fronted Prithviraj has been postponed due to the rising threats of Omicron in India resulting in the closure of theatres. The news came out today but that was a likely scenario and everyone predicted that the film will be postponed. ## The government of Delhi was the first one to shut down cinemas as early as December 28. It led to the postponement of Jersey, starring Shahid Kapoor. The sports drama was scheduled to release on December 31. The year 2022, meanwhile, began with the news of S S Rajamouli’s RRR being pushed ahead indefinitely. ## YRF was waiting till the last minute to see if the situation in India and overseas improves but the pace with which Coronavirus cases are accelerating, forced their hand to hold on to the biggest title. Everyone is looking at Prithviraj to take the box office by storm and set some new milestones in the post-pandemic era and YRF is committed to this belief. The recent development is not good news for the makers of the Telugu film RRR. ## Directed by SS Rajamouli, RRR stars Jr NTR, Ram Charan, Alia Bhatt, and Ajay Devgn. The movie was scheduled to release on January 7, however, the surge in coronavirus cases across the country and the subsequent restrictions have compelled the makers to postpone the movie indefinitely. ## According to a report by Bollywood Hungama, nearly Rs 18 to 20 crores were invested for the promotions of Rajamouli’s much-awaited magnum opus. The whodunit drama brilliantly blended a progressive love story with Hindi pulp fiction. While stitching various genres together, the celebrated filmmaker created quite a stir with his project. ## Haseen Dillruba broke several records on the OTT platform when it was released. And now, the film has garnered another acclaim to its credit. According to the latest survey, Vinil Mathew's venture is the most-watched film on Netflix. Haseen Dillruba minted more than 24.63 Million views between July to December, followed by Akshay Kumar's Sooryavanshi which reportedly got 22.34 million (even after theatrical release), Kriti Sanon's Mimi with 21.81 million views, and Kartik Aaryan's Dhamaka with 11.37 million views. ## Haseen Dillruba is a 2021 Indian Hindi-language romantic mystery thriller film directed by Vinil Mathew and produced by Aanand L. Mumbai, Dec 31, 2021: Akshay Kumar fronted Sooryavanshi which was released on Diwali with all the hype & hoopla has become the Top Grosser of the year for the Bollywood industry, debuting Akshay Kumar into the list of Highest Grosser Of The Year stars. Before this, Akshay Kumar had come close in 2007 too but his Welcome failed to beat Shah Rukh Khan's Om Shanti Om by a few crores margin. ## Released on Diwali, This Rohit Shetty directorial had collected 195cr collections at the box office and this goes without saying that no film was able to come near to the business of Sooryavanshi. There was a general expectation from 83 to put a strong fight and challenge Sooryavanshi's collections but that hasn't happened as the film got rejected by the audience. ## With Sooryavanshi being the first highest grosser of his career, Akshay Kumar has now joined the club of his 90s contemporaries actors. Prior to Akshay Kumar, all his contemporaries have delivered at least one Highest Grosser of the year at the box office.
